Just steps off Ocean Avenue in downtown Carmel, California, Il Tegamino is Carmel's favorite hidden gem. Wander past Carmel's iconic candy shop to find us tucked behind boutiques in a courtyard off the beaten path. We are a tiny restaurant charmingly hidden in Carmel-by-the-Sea's first courtyard. Dine al fresco in our outdoor space within The Court of the Golden Bough courtyard complete with standing heaters and an awning or feel transported to an authentic Italian bistro in our bustling small dining room. We welcome you to come grab a glass of vino in our new wine room. As a local small business, you will often find owner Giuseppe at your table side to welcome you and serve his menu of Italian comfort food inspired by his upbringing in Southern Italy.

Really poor entrees - $45 for a seafood pasta that was tasteless, lacked seasoning, with extremely rubbery seafood.

In my husband's words: "The best braised lamb ever." And I couldn’t agree more. From the cozy atmosphere to the unforgettable flavors, this little gem of a restaurant completely won us over. We had the braised lamb and the fig and asiago raviolini. Both were absolutely delicious, but the lamb was truly something special. Tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Yes, I’m still talking about it. The service was just as wonderful. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the owner took the time to personally check in with each table, which made the whole evening feel extra special. And the tiramisu? Light, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet. A perfect way to end a perfect meal. Already looking forward to our next visit.

The ambiance and food was delicious. The table next to us was very loud so it was hard to hear but other than that we completely enjoined our dinner. The menu is limited but has a really nice variety of choices. We didn’t have room for dessert but the dessert menu looked great as well. The service was so friendly and attentive. We will definitely go back soon.

Absolutely amazing. We got the burrata, meat ragu, gnocchi, and fig and Asiago ravioli and then the chocolate lava cake. Every single thing was amazing.
