Your experience at Il Posto will be the ultimate journey for the time that you will spend with us.
Food looked interesting on the menu but was lacking in flavor once you got it. For the price I was hoping for more delicious food, the originality is there just not the follow through with flavor.
We were seated by the front door although there were open tables everywhere - we weren't given a choice. The service was subpar - after the first round of drinks, server completely forgot we were there. The hostess kept removing plates and asking if we needed anything. The main courses were just okay. I had much higher expectations.
Great food , great staff. Love Il Posto!
Food not like old restaurant
Execution average on risotto and scallops
Always a wonderful experience! From the host to the kitchen staff everyone makes you feel welcome. And the food is amazing!
Great Italian date night location.
The courses were outstanding, perfectly portioned and timely. Great friendly service, delicious drinks romantic atmosphere.
Service was auhmazing but the food was so so bad. I couldn’t believe it based on how the service was. I usually don’t write reviews but all of us walked away saddened by the meal especially since our server and the hostesses were so kind and accommodating. I had the pappardelle and my friends had the lobster gnocchi. Not only were the dishes missing flavor but the visual presentation was tragic. All of our plates looked as though they had been sitting for quite some time. The best part of our meal was the wine and bread. If this restaurant can take a serious look at the menu, or the chef preparations and make some changes then I would gladly come back here due to the amazing service. This by far was my worst experience with Italian cuisine, sorry II Posto! It was my birthday meal I really wanted to love it!
Our reservation at a different restaurant took too long because they were too busy so we went to Il Posto which was dead. We should have taken that as a sign. Our server treated us like we were a bother. The food was expensive and we were sorely disappointed. The calamari was recommended by our server but was unappetizing and too chewy. We were so excited about the handmade pasta, but all three pasta dishes we ordered were too dense and tasteless. We didn’t even finish them. For a $200 meal, we expected so, so much better. We went the next night back to the original restaurant we tried to go to and the difference between the two was night and day. We will never come back.
Best bread I’ve ever had. Wonderful service. Would certainly return next time I’m in Denver.
We had not been in a while to this restaurant. Service was slow and the waitress couldn't even crack a smile. the food quality was definitely less than it was before, entrees were cold and meat overcooked. Not in a hurry to go back there.
Great and fast wine service and a decent selection at reasonable prices.
View from the 2nd floor is primarily dust - time to shine up those beautiful lights and dust off the wine rack. Food was excellent. Service was good-ish for our group of 10 for company holiday lunch.
Great decor; menu is not as extensive, I did not like that I wasn’t able to add protein to a pasta; however the food did have great taste.
Great meal! The wife and I took a Lyft from Lakewood, then to Mission Ballroom for Colorado music hall of fame. We will be back with friends
Il Posto is a fantastic fine dining experience. The servers are friendly, the food excellent and ambiance welcoming.
Excellent food and service! Can’t wait to go back!
We were celebrating my birthday. They gave us a perfect table.......I had requested a romantic table. We thought dinner was excellent!! We had the Burrata with prosciutto, the kale salads, the pappardelle pasta bolognese and a nice bottle of wine. It was all really delicious. I was somewhat disappointed in the dessert selection (hence the 4 stars as opposed to 5). What we had was OK, but I was expecting something better. My husband had the carrot cake and I had gelato. Thank you for the Prosecco!!
Our server turned out to be a bartender who was slinging drinks in between courses and didn't know the food. The overhead music music was vulgar and the whole place was way too loud.
When we arrived the restaurant was pretty much empty but they sat us at one of the worst tables right by the back door where people were coming in and out. Asked to be moved to a booth and they moved us to the basically the worst booth in the place, facing away from the rest of the restaurant and right in front of the main entrance so we were getting a gust of wind in our face every time the door opened. So we asked to be moved again. The server was not rude but was not very warm or friendly either. The food was decent but nothing amazing. My wife ordered the Doppio and the pasta seemed undercooked. The whole experience just missed the mark for me. I realize it's a RiNo restaurant but the vibe just doesn't feel right and it never felt like I was out at a nice Italian restaurant, even a modern American take on one. They obviously think it's a cool joint but I just found it to be a bit too pretentious.
Absolutely amazing service from an amazing team great wine list and the food was perfect
The food was ehh, however our waitress was great. She knew what she was doing and was very nice.
Matt, firstly thank you for taking the time to share your experience. In regards to food and beverage knowledge, we at Il Posto consider consistent and continued education as a priority for our service staff, to maintain a quality level of experience for our guests. We're pleased to hear Emily, made a positive impression with her innate sense of hospitality. That being said, would you be willing to speak more in depth with us as to how the food did not hit that same standard of quality?
We went back after an awesome experience our first time, and it disappointed this time around. The pasta was tough, and the flavor was bland. We were excited to go back, and now we aren’t sure if we will.
Honestly, was super excited to bring my girlfriends there from out of town. Heard great things but was just disappointed. Two of the four girls truly disliked their meals , but were too embarrassed to say anything. Only thing that was wonderful was the Wine.
We very much enjoy hosting our out of town guests to provide a true experience of Denver hospitality. Additionally, we are truly pleased to be able to provide quality Italian wine in the neighborhood of RiNo. However, if food and wine are not working in harmony together there can be a perceivable lack in balance. We at Il Posto take all guest critique into very serious consideration to be able to curate an experience maintaining the standards of our company. Thank you for sharing this.
The ambiance was great and the hostess was wonderful. The service though was sooo slow. It took 2.5 hours for an appetizer, two pasta dishes and dessert. We weren’t in a hurry by any means but the spacing between courses was horribly long. So long that we asked to cancel our dessert but it was brought right away once we said we would like to cancel. The food runner for our first course brought us bread because no one else had offered even though all the tables around us had bread.
For the food - we had the Polpo - it was fresh and light but nothing special or memorable. The mussels were a good bowl of mussels. We had the pappardelle - the best dish we had. Also, the lobster gnocchi. Carrot cake was good but had an overwhelming orange flavor that wore on you with each bite. Everything was good but unfortunately nothing overly amazing or something we HAVE to come back for.
We were at the restaurant for 2 hours and not by choice. Took forever to get our food and it wasn't even a packed house.
Great lunch special. Wine a bit high priced. Good service. Room , clean and industrial..
Service was good and the ambiance/vibe is very cool. Drinks were excellent. Food was just ok - we ordered several apps and four entrees. 2 of 4 entrees were good. 2 of 4 were very average at best. Overall, decent meal, not worth nearly the price.
Disappointed. One too many issues for the price.
The service wasn’t great, we seemed to be a burden from the introduction and when asked about a wine on the ‘by the glass’ list our server couldn’t describe the wine because it was a blend.
The food portions are small. The Pappardelle dish had 6 pieces of pasta. Good flavor but could have been much larger. The risotto, was flat, served on a dish like a shallow soup, and would have made a better base with a protein on top.
Food was fantastic, but service was not great and we were one of only a few tables in the entire place. Took a while to be greeted and sat, even though we were right on time for our reservation, basically they didn’t have a host on a Thursday night. I guess just plan on spending a lot of time here because service and food takes a little bit longer (food is worth it).
Honestly we left this meal just feeling so confused. we ordered two appetizers and an entree and the meal took over two and a half hours to complete while the restaurant was dead. my husband was never offered a refill on his drink and beyond that the food was extremely unimpressive.
Il Posto always has delicious, consistent food with beautiful presentation. The service is wonderful, everyone is very friendly and helpful, plus the drink/wine list is top notch! This will be one of my new staple restaurants.
Great Food, and Great Presentation on all but one dish. Octopus appetizer was very Elegant. Paper thin sliced, with touches of acidity from sliced peppers, and notes of anise. Seared Foie Gras was excellent. Salmon was simple but cooked perfectly. Simplicity seemed to be the theme here, but plate and flavor was a bit too plain for my taste. Perhaps, a touch of sauce, a smear of a simple gastique etc. on the plate would have made the dish pop a bit more. The Tiramisu was velvety perfection and perfectly balanced, with a spoonfull of chocaltey decadence on the side.
Front-of-house has an opulent feel, friendly vibes from the wait staff however we had an easily overwhelmed waiter. In-house Sommelier was great and provided an offering and range based on our divided preferences of wine. The culinary experience is where things took a noise dive. I choose II posto expecting to have dishes that had delicious flavors and what I got was an instgram menu. I am well aware this team of chefs prepares everything from scratch, however this menu needs work. Fall mixed with Italian flavors are some of my favorites and each dish was satisfactory at best. The roasted squash, squash pesto, charred onion vinaigrette, chestnuts, brown butter powder, vegetables were cooked properly however the dish was tasteless and bland. Next course the Primi - Gnocchi w/ fennel cream, lobster, apple, pecorino (I think the lobster was the worst flavor and texture attempt at Lobster I've ever had. The crumbled meat almost tasted like tuna fish, the dish was totally off, fennel cream wasn't nearly as flavorful as I expected and that sliced apples just didn't have anything done to them. Find better lobster, toss the apples with a maple glaze or nutmeg, something to give this dish some life. The Pappardelle was good. Last and worst of all, Risotto- the cauliflower cream, bagna cauda, truffle oil bread crumb, sottocenere, pine nut - The dish was served on a flat plate, you don't serve risotto like this unless its at a cafeteria. Plate presentation looked good with the pine nuts, (hence Instagram) but no one ever checked the risotto, under-cooked arrozzo was crunchy and the waiter explained it was the pine nuts. No sir, the dish was a total flop, thankfully I said something and they offered to comp it. I don't like pushing back on the culinary efforts to hurt a restaurant but I honestly couldn't believe it was a $26 dollar dish. Weak experience, won't go back again an I love Italian.
The food was amazing ! We loved it all! Everything was so delish!
Jonah was absolutely fantastic - made great recommendations, was funny and attentive, and made the experience special (it was a birthday). The food was outstanding (get the scallops!) and the wine Jonah recommended for pairing was just perfect. Our only nit was that it felt really bright in the restaurant, for how sexy the food and music was... but when we mentioned it jokingly to Jonah he agreed and fixed it immediately. 10/10 will go back!
We sat at the chef’s counter. Everything was spectacular. Will return.
This was one of the worst date nights my wife and I have had in a while. We had to wait for our table to be ready, the server barely gave us any attention, had long waits in between courses, and the main buffalo entree was over cooked and dry. My wife used to love the old location but it appears to have lost its allure.
I ordered the cozze (mussels with white wine) to begin with. Th they were done to perfection, and the broth was sublime. My cousin ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese for primo and I ordered the gnocchi with Lobster. Both were delish and well executed. My brother then joined us. They both ordered the scallops and I ordered the duck breast with sweet potato flan. Thus far dinner had been spot on, but when my dish was served, the sp flan was cool! I sent it back. The waitress brought it back a few moments later, but the flan was still not hot..
I just ate it as I didn't want to hold up dinner.
But I would suggest not ordering the big chunk of tough duck and cold flan. The scallops were ok, but I was put out by that point.
Octopus and Burrata appetizers were awesome, pappardelle was amazing, but the Crudo (tuna) was not good, the tuna had a grayish color, and it was a little tough. Other than that appetizer it was a wonderful dinner! We will be back!
