Il Poeta is an Italian restaurant with a Northern Italian cuisine. Chef and co-owner Mario Di Chiara has over 20 years experience in the most famous Italian restaurant in Venice and NYC with 10 years work experience in Cipriani’s restaurant. In summer 2011 the Italian Government award Il Poeta with "Ospiutalita Italiana nel Mondo" meaning that it is a truly authentic Italian restaurant (so far we are the only Italian restaurant in all Queens to have this award from the Italian Government).

Gnocchi gorgonzola were outstanding as usual, fried calamari crunchy and not greasy, excellent. Halibut tasty, love the capers and olives for a touch of salt. Lastly,the decadent napoleon with chantilly cream, am explosion of deliciousness. Compliments chef Mario. Buonissimo!! The staff is accommodating. Overall a 10.

Recently redecorated, the decor was lovely. The service very good as was the food. We shared appetizers of grilled octopus, stuffed eggplant and a salad. Perfect. The mains were pork tenderloin, manicotti Poeta and the fish of the day. Looking forward to a return visit.

Enjoyed the food and the service was excellent unfortunately we sat close to the kitchen door and there was a lot of traffic in and out of the kitchen The value was extremely good and everyone enjoyed themselves

As usual, we had a wonderful meal at Il Poeta. They do the best job with fish and seafood. My companion and I had the artichoke and shrimp appetizer, and it was delicious. We both had fish main courses and they were cooked perfectly. Also love their bread and lentils! The apple tart with ice cream was a wonderful way to end our meal. Would definitely recommend Il Poeta to any one for a upscale meal at a reasonable price!

Truly authentic Italian food and experience. The pizza is to die for, but also the pasta dishes are really good. One of my favorite italian spots in the city

We were having a day after Mother's Day dinner on Monday. The restaurant was very quiet, therefore, we had excellent service that day. The food was delicious, served hot and well prepared. The ambiance was fine since the restaurant was very quiet, however, in the past I must say that when crowded, the noice level can be very high and difficult to hear yourself talk. I like the variety of choices in this restaurant. Some interesting things that you don't always see. I had one of the the specials of the day, which was the Sea Bass which was really delicious. I enjoy this restaurant, and each time I have found it to be one of the gems of our neighborhood. Highly recommend!
