Il Piccolo Verde is an Italian restaurant that offers pasta, New York-style pizza, Napoletana-style pizza and other traditional Italian dishes. The comfortable atmosphere is highlighted by a wall of windows that allow plenty of sunlight into the restaurant and gives the tables an al fresco feel. Il Piccolo Verde has several dishes that are marked with the Verde Naturale icon, which indicates that they are low-calorie dishes and have been created with organic, unrefined raw and cold-pressed oils, gluten-free organic whole grains and Celtic sea salt.
Il Piccolo Verde offers a wide variety of wine vintages and spirits that pair well with the dishes. Pickup and delivery options are also available.
This is the first time we've actually dined in here. There are so many Italian restaurants in Brentwood that some can get lost in the sauce so to speak. For this to be my first foray into dining here I can say that I enjoyed the ambience and overall service. The food was good and the bread and olive tampenade definitely started our meal off on a great note.
It was a quiet night so we felt like we were provided with exceptional service. I believe it was just quiet because it was a Monday and it was during the same night when many would be at home watching the NCAA Final final game. The game was playing on a TV and other than us there were probably 2-3 other tables being waited on. I can assure you that the food and service was good. I feel that was probably the main reason it was relatively quiet.
With fresh ingredients and homemade flavors I have to say that we enjoyed sharing a Pollo and Pesto with Fusilli Verde pasta on the side. We've ordered the Pollo and Pesto Pizza a few times and figured we'd stop in to experience it fresh from the oven. We were satisfied. The pasta dish wasn't bad but wasn't what we expected. We liked it but didn't love it. The service was great. They were attentive and pleasant. We just found out that they host a Karaoke night on Fridays so we may check it out.
I feel like we definitely had too much bread and pasta but it was all so good. I would consider this a neighborhood gem that's off the beaten path. I would suggest this place for nice casual ambience, music and a menu with a nice variety to choose from.
The service and the food was delicious. The waiter very attentive and kind. A wonderful time.
Consistently good food and service.
This was our 3rd visit over the past couple of years. It's a convenient place to go when going to Royce Hall at UCLA for a concert. This time we decided to share a salad and a pizza. The spinach salad was fantastic, with goat cheese, dates and walnuts and plenty large enough for two to share. This time we chose a N.Y. pizza instead of the Neapolitan crust type. It was loaded with the toppings we chose and, frankly, we liked it better than the Neapolitan type. We will return.
After a good (but overpriced) meal, I asked the waiter if we could receive a complimentary desert for my girlfriend's birthday. He promptly said yes, and offered to bring her chocolate cake (which he did). We enjoyed it well enough, though it was clearly not freshly baked nor baked in house, but then were charged *nine dollars* for that slice!! When I asked if we were charged for it, he said yes, as if he had never promised a complimentary desert. Then, he handed me brusquely an iPad-type payment system, pressed 'accept' to the charges (before I was ready to accept) and stood over my shoulder while I had to leave the tip. Food is good, atmosphere is OK, everything is overpriced, and the desert is *not* complimentary (and you better be prepared to tip heftily, or feel shamed!). Would not return.
WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL NEIGHBORHOOD GEM. LOVE THE SERVICE, LOVE THE FOOD, LOVE THE AMBIANCE. NO RUSHING IN AND OUT HERE --TAKE YOUR TIME AND ENJOY.
We have been to Il Piccolo Verde several times. We can always count on good food at reasonable prices. Their Naples pizza is made in a special oven imported from Naples. It produces a crust unlike any other that I have had. Superb! We will continue to return, as the menu definitely appears to be worth exploring.
I went to this restaurant after finding decent reviews on yelp. However what I found was a loud environment, poor customer service and mediocre food. I arrived at the restaurant and immediately placed my order (filet mignon and potatoes) and the food took approximately an hour to come to the table. The manager gave a lame excuse for the delay of the food stating the meat takes a long time (really). The food is nothing to write home about and the service is poor. I have no plans of ever returning.
Since my wife had a craving for cioppino, I Googled where is the best restaurant in Southern California that makes the best cioppino. Even though we have our own favorite Italian restaurants that serves cioppino, I wanted to try a new restaurant. Google provided an article from examiner.com that rated Il Piccolo Verde as having the best cioppino in the United States! That was reason enough to try this restaurant located in Brentwood Village. Before ordering, the waiter brought out a thin pizza-like seasoned bread with minced olives and butter instead of the usual bread served with virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. That was different and tasty. For appetizers we had zupetta (mussels and clams in what turned out to be the same sauce as the cioppino). It was squisito! The examiner.com article was spot on about the cioppino. For only $25, the cioppino couldn't have tasted any better. The only ingredient that could have made it better would be the addition of lobster chunks but, it would cost a lot more than $25. For dessert I had their homemade tiramisu. I only had tiramisu this good at a restaurant that went out of business which had their tiramisu flown in from New York twice a week. Il Piccolo Verde's homemade recipe is the way tiramisu should taste. It's moist but not soggy, not overly sweet and with a hint of rum. Our server, Carlos was attentive, volunteered suggestions and very was friendly. We will be back!
We were a group of 7 old friends meeting for a dinner at PV. We were greeted warmly although they didn't seem to review the days reservation list! But tables were put together quickly and we had our waters and orders taken even though we were nonstop talking.
We did not wait long for our dinners and everything looked very good!
We tried a couple of deserts that were outstanding! Their wines by the glass/bottle were quite fine as well.
I think we all will be going back, if not together with our significant others!
The excellent service.
Good food and nice service. Casual and friendly. Good for the whole family.
Food was average. Service was horrendous. We had to shout at the top of our lungs to get the wait staff to bring anything to the table. They were running around like chickens with their heads cut off. They couldn't stop long enough to listen to what we were asking for. They also couldn't figure out where to place things on the table but rather they waited for us to move things around to make room for them. If you remember San Gennaro, then you will know what this place is like. It's what American's imagine Italian food is supposed to be like BUT this Italian can tell you, this stuff isn't even close.
We had a lovely dinner. The "natural menu" was fantastic. Great for folks who care about what they eat.
We stayed at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard and this was a very short drive away in Brentwood Village. The food was very good and VERY plentiful. There were lots of kids and families and also couples from 70's to 20's. I'd go there again!
The staff is so welcoming and friendly. The food is always excellent. They have a great fresh chopped salad. Great variety of foods. Amazing Tiramisu. Easy parking. Excellent for getting together with friends, celebrating birthdays with family,. Warm ambience of a family -owned restaurant and also great for pizza take-out. Highly recommend this restaurant.
We have eaten here twice and will not go back. Unfortunately the restaurant is was freezing cold with A/C each time and although the staff said they turned the air off - we remained cold and uncomfortable. The food is decent but the atmosphere is not cozy and the service was not great.
We went to this Il Picolo Verde for Valentine's night dinner. We went there because it was once another great local Italian neighborhood restaurant and we just did not want to deal with the amateur night eaters on Valentine's night. The place was swamped. I appeared to me that management just did not know what to expect. Surely short on staff. Waits were long and what is usually really good friend service was just not there. We came at 8:00 for our reservation and it looked like the place was a war zone and staff had had enough..
That being said. The food was good, actually really good. The chef cooked pasta excellently and the sauces for our meals (arrabiata and salmon/cream sauce/farfella) were terrific. The appetizers (calamari and burrata/tomato/basil) were good and looked like the were just thrown together. The food at the other tables around us looked terrific, We will definitely give this place anopther try. But, will not go there on Valentine's again. Will let you know what we think after our next dinner...
I don't live in the Brentwood area, but every month or two I am there. Il Piccolo Verde has become my go-to place for a satisfying meal in a relaxing atmosphere at a reasonable price. The menu has a multitude of choices, especially the pastas, as well as a helpful and personable staff.
This feels like old time Italian, with great food and rustic ambiance. We went at lunch and it was a little slow, but the food was great and the wine was super!
This was my third time here. However, I can only comment on the pizzas and salads. Their pizzas are so good that I haven't ordered anything else. I have promised myself that I will order something else next time. Their menu is extensive and I saw a number of items listed that sounded delicious. I would have given the food 4 stars, but the lovely chopped salad was tasteless. I added some of the tapinade that came with the basket of wonderful pizza bread, which helped. The house wine was quite pleasant.
Not real fancy, but very lovely. Easy access, with outdoor seating on a quiet street. Fantastic bread and an incredible variety of reliably wonderful Italian dishes. Diverse list of good wines, reasonable priced. Friendly waiters with attentive service. What more could you ask for? I have been having business lunches and family dinners here for the past year, and only wish I had tried it earlier. Not as flashy as other Brentwood eateries -- but that is exactly what we like about it. You can relax, enjoy a quiet, peaceful lunch or dinner without the drama of celebrities or self-important types. Just your neighbors enjoying good Italian cuisine in a friendly setting just down the street.
This was our third time at Piccolo. It is definitely on our go-to list when we are in the Brentwood area. The feeling is relaxed and understated and the service is very good. It's also a steal, as the low prices do not reflect the quality and preparation of the food.
Food is quite good. Loved the trout, ciappino and salads. Will return.
Loved this place and have been back since! Great and moderately priced Italian food that is a neighborhood gem, quiet but great ambiance. Amazing service which is rare in LA these days!
This was my 5th time at this restaurant and by far the worse experience I have had. The service was so slow, the food was terrible and the waitress seemed like she was spacy and having an off night.
It took 20 min for us to be noticed and I had to call from the outside patio to ask for menus. It took another 10 min for drinks to be served. I ordered a salad I normally order but I guess the chef did something different and it came out tasting bland and not at all what I ordered. I basically got a bunch of shredded lettuce and a few small veggies sprinkled on it.
They did bring a plate of added raw veggies when I asked but still. Also, their beers are EXTREMELY expensive.
This was our first time at this restaurant, but definitely not our last. The choices for a glass of wine or a beer were extensive and reasonably priced. The bread was pieces of pizza crust just out of the oven (light and very good) and the tapanade was excellent. We each started with an okay salad and then split a 12" pizza cooked the Naples way. This means that they had a pizza oven that was especially designed for them in Naples, one that was capable of cooking at 800 degrees and making the pizza in one minute. (They also have New York style pizzas made in a regular pizza oven.) Ours was perfect, with what may be the best crust we have ever had. We need to go back and try other pizzas and their extensive pasta list.
This restaurant is an amazing hidden gem, quiet, gorgeous, and delicious plus what a refreshing experience with suburb service! We came here for dinner on a Friday night and ordered a salad, appetizer, and chicken diavola. Everything was delicious plus large portions. The service was incredible as everyone was very friendly and attentive. Nice patio space too! Will definitely be back
We went here for lunch on a sunday afternoon, there was only 1 other party in the entire restaurant, so noise was not an issue. Food was good. We got their lunch special - salad and a sandwich. They left us alone for the most part, needed to flag them down for water that went completely empty and a persistent fly that kept zooming near our food.
There were 3 in our party. I was disappointed that the waiter did not suggest any "SPECIALS" for that evening, my dinner was just ok. took half of it home and tried to "doctor it up" but it still was tasteless for me. the salad was just ok. The others in my party seemed disappointed, also. I am not sure if we will go back.
Thank you for my second great meal at Il a Piccolo Verde! The food was delicious, brought quickly once ordered and served HOT!! Our waitress was a sweetheart!
The food is good and service is great!!!
Oscar and Eleazar were so nice and helpful
So noisy we couldn't hear or understand our server. Took forever to get our drinks, and then our food. They also gave our table away to a party that didn't have a reservation.
Went there after looking for something close on the OpenTable app. It is tucked away in a little commercial area in Brentwood. I checked out the reviews and it did not disappoint. The service was great and attentive an the food was great. Good portions, great flavor.
Great service from Nannete. Excellent food! Love this place.
7 of us went on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday. With the attentive service, excellent quality of food, portion size and reasonable prices we will go back again and they also gave us 2 free desserts the birthday person. What a great find!
I have been here a few times since it opened in my neighborhood.
The food is always consistently outstanding.
Some of the best pasta I have ever had is here.
Our server was attentive and friendly.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone--in
or out of the area.
Love this charming little restaurant.
Huge portions, great prices, & a friendly staff all makes for a great dining experience!
This place is consistently good. Have been there many times now and never had a bad meal.
Prices are very fair.
This cute little restaurant serves beautiful food. I recommend the Carrot Cauliflower Soup! The salads that we ordered were beautiful but bland…try something else. Along with the favorites you would expect in an Italian restaurant they also have a "green" menu - good for vegetarians.
