Creating dishes from century old recipes, Ritrovo truly captures the taste of classic Italy with signature dishes " Orecchettie della Casa. Truffle pasta tossed is a pecorino romano cheese wheel.
Praised for their “pizza come una volta” (pizza as it once was), a family tradition passed down through many generations, is now shared with all who visit. Come and experience a true taste of Italy in the southern valleys of California.
Parking in the rear available Sunday - Thursday.
Served way too much pasta. Pizza was warm not hot and the crust soft.
An absolute treat to us after our New Year's mass. Very accommodating despite the fact that they were closing at 9 pm and our online reservation, thru Open Table, was 9 pm. Thankfully, the staff called us and gave us the information so we could rush to the restaurant so as not to hold them up. Our waiter, I believe, Mitch or Nick -- sorry... was amazing, professional, did not miss a beat, attentive, kind.....and more. Just made our dinner that much more enjoyable. Thank you... we will pass on the word regarding the restaurant and we will certainly return very soon.
Used to love this place but the food that we had unfortunately it wasn’t very good the salad and the salmonwere not
mediocre Italian restaurant with bad service with an attitude. I would skip it and find another.
Ritrovo is my favorite Italian restaurant in the Palisades. Excellent food, good service but it is pricey. Expect to spend at least $30-50 per person. Aside from the price, it is a great restaurant.
Service etc was fine. Two of the main dishes we ordered were excellent--ravioli and gnocchi with 4 cheeses, I think. My dish--pappardelle with clams, shrimp, was mediocre. Three tiny clams, a couple of small dry shrimp, and no sauce to speak of. This selection needs a lot of improvement.
Over all, reliable neighborhood restaurant with reasonable prices but not more. My red wine was too cold, pasta was overloaded with heavy creamy sauce, fish had a bitter aftertaste from burned pistachio nuts. Other guests had more luck with good burata and salads. Good tiramisu.
Terrible service, waited an hour for food to come
It was a tough nite for them. They were opening another store and the regular chef was not there, plus the fires kept several employees from showing up, we were told. Unfortunately, it showed. Took 40 minutes to get served and there were only about 4 tables. The only waiter did his best, but was overwhelmed. Pizza was good as usual, but nothing else was close to acceptable or the usual Ritrivo experience. We like the place, and will be back, because everyone deserves a Mulligan.
Given how relatively quiet this restaurant is, I wish it were better. The food is not up-to-par with the better LA Italian restaurants; OK for families, but definitely not fine dining.
Have been coming to Il Piccolo Ritrovo as our 'go to' for date night for some years. The menu, quality, and pasta cooked just al dente, plus the Neapolitan pizza, will make this our fave for years to come. Diva the owner is terrific and takes time to come chat with all her guests. Brava!
I’m a little bit puzzled. This place came recommended by two separate friends and I was expecting a cosy Italian with good food. Admittedly it was a Tuesday evening so the place was empty and I guess that’s not the restaurant’s fault and maybe didn’t help. The ambience was a combination of a baseball game on the TV and a Phil Collins/Madonna playlist on the TV speakers. The view of the gas station across the road was only obscured by the noisy dual carriageway. My burratta pizza came out worryingly quickly, was cold and had a base made of cardboard. My friend’s vongole, like my pizza, remained largely uneaten. The staff were friendly and warm and the price wasn’t outrageous but I won’t be going back. I can only imagine it’s sort of buzzy on the weekends and that’s why people rate it?
This place is a favorite of mine and several of my friends. The food is always excellent, the staff is friendly and professional, and we always stay and linger for drinks and dinner. They always make us feel welcome and never rush us. Plus the location is very convenient. I highly recommend Il Piccolo Ritrovo to all my family and friends.
We came in with 4 very loud toddlers after the beach. The staff was amazing, accommodating, and patient. The food was yummy too.
Great little restaurant for dinner with friends. Food is very good, service was great, patio is a favorite.
Great food at a reasonable price. I especially recommend the pappardella and the tiramisu.
Pasta was just wrong. Tasteless. I expected much more from this first time visit. The lamp chops were ordered medium rare and came rare to the table. The bread is quite nice. The server Tony was wonderful. I can’t say that we would return to this restaurant.
Waiter was incredible. Food was timed perfectly. The food was DELICIOUS. Found my new favorite white wine, “ La Playa”. And the desert was the perfect finish. One of the best Italian dining experiences in the States.
Open Table allowed us to book a reservation for Mother’s Day lunch when the restaurant was closed and didn’t open until 5 pm. Not cool!
Favorite Palisades restaurant!!
Everything was perfect!
I discovered this charming restaurant a few months ago and have returned several times. The food and service are excellent and parking is easy as they have complimentary valet. It is the perfect place for friends to get together, family dining, or a business meeting meal. I highly recommend giving it a try.
Terrific restaurant, great attention from staff, a neighborhood gem and worth traveling to.
We returned to this restaurant when we heard that it had improved. It remains a pleasant neighborhood cafe, but the evening was spoiled when I was served the wrong dish which I accepted since we had waited. I was surprised how the staff were barely apologetic and how they showed little pride in their service.
Outstanding in every way. Courteous and professional service, a wide variety of excellent food and pleasant atmosphere indoors or on the delightful patio. Charming owner makes every customer seem welcome and the dining experience a special occasion even for everyday dining. The authentic wood burning pizza oven turns out pizza as perfect as it gets. A best bet for dining in Pacific Palisades and worth a drive if coming from elsewhere.
Valet is surly. For service, our waiter tried, but must be hard of hearing. And if theres a confusing menu item, they should be proactive to check. He messed up our appetizer order and the next table over’s pizza order. There’s an easy way to fix that... repeat the order back to customer and don’t make menu items with similar names!
Food was generally reliable as usual.
Good, reliable local Italian. Great wood fired pizza
Great little place and convenient in the Palisades. Weak parking but they have valet service. Avoid the rush for take-out by going early or late, as the kitchen gets taxed.
A good place for a comfort Italian meal with family. Some links with inexperienced staff but overall good value. The manager works hard to make this place a very good choice in the area.
This restaurant is under a new owner, and the food has improved a lot from the previous operation. It is worth a visit.
We had immediate seating by a very friendly staff. The food was delivered quickly when we said we had a deadline. We loved the food---that was our first visit and we would go back in a N.Y. minute.
Jad a wonderful experience. Delicious food...pappardelle bolognese was so tasty and the meat so tender. The burrata and tomato appetizer so great. The special pasta...chicken also delicious.
Tony was our waiter. I had him the last time. He is absolutely outstanding. Cant wait to go back.
The new owners of Il Piccolo Ritrovo have made a fine restaurant even better. The owner/hostess Deva is pleasant, knowledgeable, accommodating - simply delightful. The entire dining experience is truly Fantastico! Outstanding salads, antipasti, pasta, fish, grilled meats, etc. Their signature dish - Orecchiette con Tartufo (made in a huge wheel of Parmagiano-Reggiano) with truffles - is not to be missed. Really outstanding pizza, including perfect regular crust pizza from a conventional pizza oven and even better thick crust pizza from an amazing imported Italian wood burning pizza oven that is the architectural focal point of the open kitchen. Save room fot the wonderful deserts. Many of the highly attentive staff have been there for years and it feels like family. Very expertly done and comfortable space, including a lovely patio. Always seems to be ample parking on Sunset, but they even have free valet service. Il Piccolo Ritrovo seems to be doing extremely well - and fine food at reasonable prices are the secrets! Also a very appropriate and fairly priced wine list. Love this restaurant and plan to visit again soon - and often!
