Il Mulino Prime - SoHo
Savor prime dry-aged meats and inspired Italian cuisine at our modern SoHo steakhouse. Sun-dappled by day and sophisticated by night, Il Mulino Prime is a versatile venue that is easily customized for any crowd or occasion.
BADLY PREPARED FOOD, TOO EXPENSIVE.
WINE LIST GOOD, BUT OVERPRICED
Overpriced, over-seasoned, and over-cooked. They must know their quality is sub par because they gave everyone having dinner some free cheese and prosciutto platters, which was very nice. Fried dishes here are not great - avoid them. Lamb was overcooked and dosed in wasabi, pistachio, and other random flavors. Our favorite was probably the truffle ravioli. Keep it simple if you have to eat here.
Great atmosphere and wine list. Prices are a little out of control ($40 chicken parm?) but the food is solid and the portions huge. Took my parents who were visiting us and they enjoyed it. Service was great until the server set down a main course that I didn’t order — and actually tried to pass it off as the special that I had ordered. It was pretty obnoxious and I was quite stunned. His colleague, another server, caught the move and came over and apologized profusely and switched my meal immediately.
Food, the company and the cute bartender were a great way to spend a sunny Saturday.
We went during the Italian Restaurant Week - 3 course lunch for $29. The place is lovely and bright. The tuna tartare starter was beautiful and delightfully mild. The NY prime strip main dish was well done, although the steak was a bit too fatty. The truffle mashed potatoes was very delicious. The ricotta cheesecake was fantastic - milder than NY cheesecake.
2nd time in 6 weeks, definitely our favorite restaurant in all of SoHo
I was surprised when the waiter did not provide the restaurant week menu. He was unaware that it was even restaurant week. When we asked for the restaurant week menu, we were all surprised that it was totally different than the menu advertised. I made reservations based on the menu. The waiter was totally oblivious. I noticed that he did not provide the other guests with a restaurant week menu. There is a vast difference in price between the restaurant week menu and the regular menu. My meal ordered from the changed 'restaurant week' menu was very good. My husband ordered the steak which was very tough. Another guest ordered the tortellini from the restaurant week menu for the main course. It looked more like an appetizer.
The whole experience from top to bottom is perfection. Hospitality, food quality and ambiance cannot be better. We are frequent diners here and always will be. Thank you for making our anniversary celebration perfect. We will see you next time ♥️
The food was excellent and well prepared.
The waiter did not offer us the Italian Week menu and when he begrudgingly gave it to us one of the two appetizer was not available. It took a long time to get our food and he really ignored us. He did not offer anyone else the special menu.
We so enjoyed the food that we would go back again.
Service could be better host was great but waiters need to be more attentive .. food was great
Wonderful Italian cuisine and wines. Service was not intrusive yet attentive. Ambiance reminds me a little of Bistro Grille Da Pier, Sermione, IT (my imagination).
Very enjoyable! The food, service and ambiance was very good. We had a wonderful time!
Delicious. A must go to. Very consistent. Always a good meal
Always consistently excellent. Service is perfect, food delicious, and a wonderful addition to the Soho neighborhood. We love using this place as our go to in the hood.
We had a totally delicious dinner. I think we ordered more than half the menu! From anti-pasta to dessert, it was all ridiculously yummy. The special mint papardella with lamb ragout was the best combination of flavors. Plus all served efficiently and with a lot of smiles. The atmosphere was casual but sophisticated. The perfect evening.
Clams oreganata were tasty. The burratta and tomatoe needed salt, and it was not very soft. The out shell was tough. My husband ordered the sirloin and was over-cooked. It was flavorful but over-done. I ordered the taglietelle with lamb stew. $44 and not worth it at all. It doesn't not need the pistacios on top. sauce and ricotta mixed in were tasty but not a $44 pasta dish. Drank a coke cola, espresso and capuccino = $230. Geez. Not worth it.
The food was amazing. The real Milanese was the largest i have ever seen. I had the lagastino risotto, which was wonderful.
I was very unhappy with the veal parmigiana, the manager comped my meal. I have eaten in other locations and was always very satisfied with the food. I was very impressed with the way management handled my dissatisfaction.
Disappointed in overall experience. Thought food would be better. Extremely overpriced.
The Service was rushed and unfriendly, as if speed reading and mumbling the specials is good enough. The atmosphere is very affected and self important but the food and overall experience do not back it up. The Chicken Parmigiana is $40 and it is literally a piece of chicken on a plate ... for $40.00. No pasta, just a piece of chicken. And the chicken was ... average. Nothing to back up the price or the attitude of the staff. If you are seeking an authentic Italian meal in NYC, skip this bourgeois waste of money and head one mile away to Little Italy.
Modernized Il Mulino experience. Location and space are great. Service is exceptional.
I cannot believe this supposedly fancy place to overcharge me without specifying pasta served as appetizers and full course is differently prized. They should have written that on the menu or made it clear by waitress.
Service was awesome, bone in Veal Parm is fantastic.
Not happy would not return
It was our first time there. It was fabulous!! Looking forward on going back real soon
Food was very mediocre. Would not recommend to a NY-er
Incredible steakhouse / spot for pasta / breads / all things that are delicious! We ordered incredible cocktails, wine, steak, and the brussel sprouts. Not a single bad thing on the menu - it's as good as it gets and the vibes are wonderful.
Our experience was wonderful. We were very well attended by the staff and I had the best pasta I’ve ever eaten. Everything was perfect, except the noise level was a little loud and it was a bit too dark to see the menu properly but other than that perfect!
although it was empty, the service was very poor. The food was okay. Would not go back.
We chose this restaurant because we had a great time at another Il Mulino restaurant in NYC. In general, the food was very good except for the steaks which were burned and overcooked. Il Mulino prides itself on being an Italian steakhouse. They reluctantly remade one steak but the second steak was also charred and too fatty to eat. We all had ordered our steaks at a medium temperature and they arrived well done. In addition, there was a big lag between our first courses and entrees. I had noted it was our daughter’s 21st birthday on the reservation and when we arrived. They offered nothing special. We paid our very pricey bill and left before considering dessert. Atmosphere is very dark and noisy. An expensive disappointment.
One of my favorites. Food is amazing. Trendy and cool place to have dinner. Highly recommend
Always a go-to when I have a special friend or relative in town!
They didn't have our reservation in their system, they could read the birthday special occasion. I had to tell a waiter about it toward the end as discreetly as possible. At this time we had finished dinner and gotten a large portion to go because we filled up with appetizers. 1 person came by with a candle on the desert I ordered, "happy bday dear lady" obv since they didn't have the name on the Rez. We still waited for our "to-go" but they threw it out by mistake. Honestly prob a fluke, but at this location the entire Thursday night was empty, maybe bc of this service
Great service. Authentic Italian menu from seafood to meats there’s something for everyone
How is it possible to have such an amazing menu with about 12 tables in the restaurant? Everything was outstanding: veal milanese, steak tartare, pork ragout, cheesecake, etc. Service was professional and attentive. The only issue was the noise level which was too much at times and hard to hear the others across the table of 4.
A little too quiet for lunch.
I really like Mulino, but this one was not special. Food is good, but service could be really more attentive. I had to wait for a long time and had no explanation at all. One of the dishes was kind of cold.
Perfect for a date! Atmostphere is trendy and romantic. The servers make you feel special and the food was great!
Dinner was the first date my husband and I have been on in a while (young kids, crazy jobs). I specifically wanted the nice, romantic, fancy dining experience. Food was excellent, service was superb, but the ambiance suffered because the music was NOT what I expected for this type of restaurant. Loud, bar music, not appropriate for the fine dining experience. When we arrived, I think Dean Martin was playing but as the evening went on it became almost club music. Our reservation was at 7pm.
Very good food and great service, great atmosphere for date night
