Il Mulino - New York Ratings and Reviews
We loved the food and ambiance. It's very cozy, warm and inviting. Unfortunately, there was no air conditioning, and they wouldn't open the front window panels even slightly, their excuse being it was raining outside. It was only sprinkling out, and the breeze would have been nice. As well, they had a traditional Spanish performer with singing and dancing, which would have been nice, but it was so loud that it became unpleasant. The loudness coupled with the heat made it unbearable.
Went for lunch with avocado-worker and loved the ambiance and food.service was good and I was told for happy hour there was a flamenco show. Not sure if it's on specific days if the week though. Had de real tapas fishes for lunch including stuffed dates with goat cheese, shrimp in a garlic sauce mini beef empanadas. And mussels. Each of the fishes was tasty but a few of the mussels were not so good.
We went on a Sunday night. It was quiet and we were able to talk with our friends. The food was delicious, as always. Try the Cava Sangria.
The scene is quite different, but equally enjoyable, on Friday or Saturday when they have live music, flamenco dancing and a totally full house.
Went to this restaurant after reading reviews on TripAdvisor. A although the food was good the service wasn't. Ordered 5 tapas 3 arrived together the other 2 didn't arrive till much later. I appreciate tapas can arrive at different times but we were finished the first 3. Asked more than once about the other 2 and we're told they are coming in a minute which turned into 20 minutes after we were finished. The guy eventually brought them out at this point we didn't want them. He left them on the table anyway and we told him to take them back which he did
after he spoke to someone in charge. Wouldn't go back for this reason.
Tablao was a great date night out. We came for the flamenco and we're blown away by the food. Tablao has beautiful ambiance, the service was friendly, and we didn't feel rushed to enjoy our meal. Definitely check it out for an enjoyful evening with friends or your significant other.
I was really looking forward for the live music and dance show, I made reservations and they put me downstairs all the way in the back. I asked the waiter if we could ve moved up upstairs where the show is. They gave me the table by the entrance door. Really disappointed about this. Food was ok, nothing extraordinary.
The food here was very disappointing. I'm not a super picky eater and was excited to try a variety of tapas. The best was a goat cheese and pear tapas but the lobster empanillas, the croquettes and the octopus were almost inedible. The chicken was ok but a little too much spice for my taste. The service was deliberately slow (had to call the waiter over to order after we were waiting for more than 10 minutes with menus closed). The noise level was also loud. Too many good restaurants to dine here again. Very disappointing.
a colleague of mine recommended this and i have thanked her profusely...just an outstanding dinner, service & flamenco show. we took two of our most discriminating friend with us and they were thoroughly impressed. we will be back there again when we return to NYC
