Il Mulino New York - Tribeca
a pale shadow of the uptown location (which is excellent). Spent the whole meal flagging down anyone willing to serve us
Fantastic experience in the heart of tribeca. Excellent food, exceptional and friendly service.
Everything was great — except that the service was somewhat sporadic.
Very nice. Just not as Italian as I expected
Brought 4 adult children, one fiancee, and one granddaughter here in remembrance of the first anniversary of my wife's passing away as she and I loved visiting NYC and sampling great food. No disappointments. Pleasant staff with excellent service. The mushroom risotto was fabulous. Expensive but worth it!
Very modern space compared with other restaurants in this mini chain. Service was good. Veal parm has bone removed and on the side, first world problems, but like when it’s all connected. I prefer the more intimate look of other restaurants they own, but close to my office in Lower Manhattan.
My wife and I have eaten at the Miami location several times but decided to get the Tribeca restaurant a try. We were not disappointed. Food was excellent as always. The accommodating staff ensured our meal and needs were met to our liking.
Highly recommend Il Mulino
Service was pretty good. Food was really not very good. A flattened and dry chicken paillard made me feel sad, especially as an entree course.
Great service. Very loud ambience but there was an extremely loud Wall Street table. Obnoxious. Not the restaurant’s fault. Food was divine.
Very enjoyable. Excellent service. Pricey but this is NYC
It was amazing. The food. The service. I little weird when the waiter asked my pregnant wife if I’m coming back from having a cigarette. But other than that it was great
My significant other didn’t let me finish my meal but other then that everything was perfect
Delicious! Went for a client dinner and was very impressed. Easy to get “used to” meals like these in NYC but the service and hospitality here made the overall experience amazing. Thank you!
Let me start by saying that the food was absolutely wonderful - from the fresh and tasty salads, to the delicious, well prepared entrees, and the fabulous desserts. But despite the kitchen's wonderful product, the servers appeared to be having an off night. They brought out the wrong dish for one of our guests (a chicken dish instead of a veal dish, which they then replaced with the wrong veal dish) and insisted on giving another guest a dish intended for the guest next to him (our server didn't appear to know the difference between a veal piccata and veal scallopini). In addition, our server (or group of servers, it was difficult to tell) did not keep our wine glasses filled (we had to ask repeatedly), and even cleared the champagne glasses of three of our guests before the bottle had been finished (they then brought back two glasses). All in all, we enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere of the restaurant, but we were a bit shocked by the service we received.
Was disappointed that the appetizer that was recommended for $29 was missing my husband’s favorite ingredient would not have ordered it otherwise. Won’t be going back, don’t mind spending the money but I expect the value when I do.
Awesome overall experience
I was actually recommended this restaurant by a lifelong friend living in New York.
It did not disappoint. It was delicious. Dishes were spaced out perfectly. The rose I requested for our 10th year anniversary was waiting for us. The food was delicious, especially the potpouri of bread options and the delicious cheese, to say nothing of the handsome portions when our main courses arrived. We even tried Cannoli for the 1st time, on the house, and it was the perfect way to cap off the dinner.
No hesitation is needed when recommending this spot. I would only say that you must be willing to pay in order play.
Everything was perfectly delicious! It was a 5 star experience, all the way around!
Truly great dining experience. Chef Franco constructs a true Neapolitan Rigatoni arrabiata which was off menu, but accommodated. Superb. Branzino prepared expertly and served to perfection. Maitre d’ Marco always commands the room with warm, unobtrusive efficiency, for my money the best run Italian room downtown. After a long day of surgery Saturday, my meal at Il Mulino was like a letter from home. Having known Il Mulino for thirty years, Marco and chef Franco are carrying on the tradition with superb high quality food, service and ambiance. Highly recommend. Probably my favorite outpost of the Il Mulino brand since the brothers sold. Finally, a shout out to my Serbian friend David who also shares the responsibility for a very well run room and s great dining experience with Neapolitan flair. Bravissimo!!!
We really like both the other locations. The chicken parmigiano was very salty, as well as the pasta. ( and I like salt.) The spinach salad was so sour I didn’t eat it.
We did get a lot of attention but actually too much. Perhaps our server was new...?? Another server would come by and say “ Did your server see if you wanted pepper? Did your server give you cheese?” Two men, managers?? came over at least twice each to see if food was ok. Overall , we were a bit disappointed.
Overall the evening went well till the main entrees were served. One of us ordered Osso Bucco. When the waiter asked if everything was satisfactory my friend told her the meat was not tender. She said OH and just walked away. Later when the manager stopped by the table to say Hi and asked how everything was this evening, once again my friend stated the veal wasn’t tender. He didn’t eat his $70.00 Osso Bucco . The manager explained that each location follows the same recipe. My friend with a plate that was barely touched once again explained that the veal was tough, we all finished our entrees except for my friend. The manger removed his plate and just walked away. On top of this one of the other diners didn’t want the Zabione with berries and she asked instead of the Zabione can she have just whipped cream and berries. That wasn’t the problem, the problem was she was charged the $28.00 that the Zabione cost. It would have been nice if the manager would have been a little understand that a diner was disappointed. The good thing is after spending $600.00 for 4 people for drinks & food, we don’t have to go back. There are many restaurants that will be a little gracious to have us at their restaurant.
Unfortunately the noise was very loud. Even though the restaurant wasn’t full, there were a few large groups and a lot of staff. Our waiter left dueing our dinner without saying goodbye and when we got the bill presented, there was something on which we didn’t get. Our new waiter couldn’t check it with our original waiter and had to go see a manager. That’s a hassle. Besides that glasses fell, our small plates were cleared while we did not get our parmezane, which I came specially for
As usual phenomenal food!! Head maitre d’ offered an outstanding dining experience. Room well run - I must note that I go back to the original I’ll Mulino before it was il
Mulino, when the brothers were in Fort Lee NJ. J know the original and it’s siblings have changed hands but STILL one of the best Italian restaurants in the city. The TriBeCa location is more casual and I thoroughly enjoy my Friday nights there after a busy day of surgery. BRAVO!!!!
Great all around!!
Fantastic service and food
Had a fabulous meal at Il Mulino! Ambiance, food, service all outstanding. Although it was full, we were able to enjoy a conversation at the table. It is overpriced, but we knew that in advance. Will definitely return!!
Lovely. Excellent music set a perfect tone for a fun night.
very different ambiance than the Village Il Mulino but the food was equally as incredible
They filled the restaurant with extra tables on Valentine’s Day so we were stuck at a tiny folding table. My legs were cramped the entire time (I am only 5’4). They initially put us in the basement but we requested to go back up to the dining room because it was so weird. It was elbow to elbow and so noisy. The food was really great but not worth the money for the lousy experience!
overall great new location beautiful set up nice and clean great VD special as well
Service excellent!!! Food was great. Chicken dish a bit pricey for what it was
Pros: kinda cool venue that puts a Tribeca twist on the Il Mulino vibe, good food
Cons: Really terrible service. Not rude or unfriendly, but terribly organized and, as a result, incredibly unresponsive.
I ignored the yelp reviews highlighting this as an issue 6 months ago. That was a mistake; it is still a big problem today. I hope management is paying attention and does something to fix this.
For now, I’d recommend skipping the Tribeca location and going to any other location for your Il Mulino experience.
This is an old-style Italian place. Food is great, and includes a lot of extras brought to the table. But service is hit or miss. When I arrived, the person I was meeting was waiting at the bar. I told the host we were ready to be seated, but because of the noise level I couldn't hear my guest explaining that the bartender had her credit card and she needed to finish settling up. The host rushed me to the table, and when we looked around to see that we'd left the guest standing there, he just shrugged and walked away. Our waitress seemed to be new. She showed up with menus and started into her monologue. I eventually broke in to ask about the "restaurant week" menus, which she went to retrieve - apparently these are not produced unless you insist. It's a very loud restaurant, and because she stood some distance away rather than bending down to talk with us, we had difficulty understanding her, and vice versa. This is a branch of the original location on West 3rd, which has pretty much the same food but better atmosphere. Frankly, there are better options in this price range.
Amazing! Everyone was so attentive. 💕
Food was very good but service was awful. I can’t remember the last time I had such poor service.
No reason to include tomatoes caprese this time of year (very little flavor) but the dish was served ICY cold so IF the tomato had flavor, you'd never know. restaurant was VERY chilly even in the very back, near the kitchen (cold draft from the "heating" unit.) Everyone wore mufflers and some had on their coats throughout dinner. I understand the restaurant is known for its wine list - but the prices were really over the top for the lower end of the spectrum.
The service was spectacular!!! I’ve only been to a handful of restaurants that have such impeccable service — and that includes Michelin star restaurants.
The food was outstanding and the ambience just perfect.
I’m already planning my return visit.
Food was excellent as well as the service; Marco made sure they everything was taken care of
