All the way from Sicily, Lino and Gregory moved to New York City bringing the best of the Southern Italian culinary tradition. Nine years after opening a Sicilian restaurant and concept store in Noto (Sicily), the idea of honouring the Grandmas traditions is what creates the philosophy of their hospitality at Il Melograno. Buon appetito!

Pappardelle al Ragout di Salsiccia
Homemade pappardelle, sweet and spicy Italian sausage ragu (contains fennel seeds)
Ravioli di Vitello al Burro e Salvia
Homemade veal ravioli with butter, fresh sage and shaved Grana Padano
Cream-filled fresh mozzarella, seasoned cherry tomatoes and arugula salad
Appetizers - burrata, arugula salad - were terrific except octopus was little tough. Pastas were homemade. Chef was nice enough to make gnocchi even though it wasn’t on the menu but should have gotten it with tomato sauce instead of the mushroom sauce. Overall good evening and nice wine list.
Was recommended to us by friends did not disappoint. The four of us loved the food and small simple dining
Amazing food and excellent service! A real southern Italian osteria with spectacular family recipes and a very nice wine selection. The restaurant is owned by a Sicilian couple, the host and the chef, and it feels so good to see them interacting with each table. This shows how much they care! Thank you, we’ll be back soon.
We needed a quiet place for a relaxed dinner with a friend who is visiting from out of town. Il Melograno was a great choice. The noise level allowed for good conversation, and the service was efficient but not rushed. All of us were happy with the food.
The food was top notch. I’ll be sure to recommend it to anyone who asks.
One of my best experiences ever! Coming from an Italian family I felt like my grandmother was cooking dinner. This food is the most authentic in town!! The eggplant parmigiana is to die for, and so is the pappardelle.
The service is outstanding! The owner makes sure everything is ok at every single table, like an old fashioned host would do in a typical Italian Osteria back in the ‘60s.
These guys brought Sicily to New York! Can’t wait to go back!!
We were looking for something near the theater district but not in it and menu looked interesting. Northern Italian with some flair. It was all that and a great value. We ordered burrata and carpaccio to start. Both were delicious and the burrata looked amazing. A beautiful, fat ball perched on some baby arugula and tomatoes. We ordered octopus, veal ravioli in sage butter and triofe pesto to follow. All delicious. And very well-priced. We'll go back!
the owner was so gracious and the food was great....and seating was outside (inside was dark and would be lovely for the night/cozy)....the lasagna and the steak were amazing!
Il Melograno was absolutely wonderful! It’s a smaller restaurant, but that just adds to the charm. Great ambiance. Great service. And the food was so good!! Exceeded my expectations for sure!
I just got soup and salad but each was outstanding!! Low key seemingly average spot, but way above average food and service!
Luis did an outstanding job waiting on our table. This is the second visit and will be back next time back in the city.
As always, a great meal with top-notch service. We sat outside & really enjoyed ourselves. The staff is reliably friendly, courteous, prompt, and accommodating.
The meals were okay, but nothing that stood out. I felt like they overloaded the olives and capers on my swordfish. My daughters had pasta and the pasta was meh. It needed something to make it tasty. Neither one finished theirs. Overall, the appetizers were really the better parts of the meal. We tried it and now know
this place is wonderful; my wife and I have been here several times and never have been disappointed; we have been away do the pandemic and we finally was able to get back; they remembered us like we never left.
Great service, friendly ans attentive staff… food was great, especially the cannoli for dessert!
It was pretty good especially the food. The only issue was that my guest and I were seated and ended up waiting 15 minutes for even some water. Eventually, I had to get someone's attention, and then they were on top of things.
Enjoyed meeting up with friends and sitting outside for a nice Italian dinner! So many vegetarian options made it the perfect place for our guests! Food was delicious, small portions. Price was very reasonable. Service was good. Loved they left water bottles on our table so we didn’t run out so quickly! Food was great! Definately will return!
Excellent, attentive service from knowledgeable and helpful waiters. Food was great with good portion size and high-quality ingredients. Will definitely come back or order from here in the future.
Great local spot with excellent food. Service is always great. A real hidden treasure.
Come here whenever we visit NY. Never disappoints.
It was hot in restaurant
A wonderful experience and excellent food and wine…my favorite go-to.
Il Melograno was a wonderful find in Hell's Kitchen! We booked there on a Tuesday night to celebrate my son's birthday and requested outside seating. Immediately after we sat down, there was an unbelievable thunderstorm that started and lasted our entire meal. The staff couldn't have been more gracious, bringing us our food while holding umbrellas to shelter themselves from the storm. The food was outstanding. We will be back--hopefully in drier weather.
Atmosphere, service, and food was great. Plan to return again some day
Amazing food, staff, and drinks. Owner was great, love that he is authentic Sicilian.
I had a delicious pork chop and my table shared the lasagna. Wonderful food and a great indoor environment. We ordered a bottle of prosecco for the table the was served warm, but chilled at the table by the second glass. I would come back!
Awesome food - nothing on the menu is less than wonderful.
Great neighborhood gem. Delicious food and wonderful attentive service.
Always love dining at Il Melograno. Friendly service, really good food…just what a local restaurant should be.
Very nice outdoor dining experience in Hells Kitchen!
This is a quaint Italian Restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen. Small and intimate and the food is authentic. I would definitely come back. Make a reservation as seating is limited 4.5⭐️
The food was outstanding I loved my Pulpo dish I still can’t stop thinking about the amazing taste .
Outstanding food and service - as always! We eat here frequently and especially every year for our wedding anniversary.
We had a lovely evening, waited quite some time for our delicious food as the place was fully booked but the team surprised us with dessert on the house which was super nice
Definitely would recommend and we‘ll be back!
This is, without question, the best Italian food that I have ever had! Gregory and Lino, the owners, were so warm and welcoming and you can tell that they put their heart and soul into this restaurant and its food. Lino told me that the recipes that he uses are his grandmother's recipes from when he was younger in Sicily. He must have been one lucky grandson because the flavor and quality of this food is absolutely superb!
We got the Polpo Alla Grigia for the Antipasi and it was absolutely superb. The octopus was soft and perfect. Ot was not fishy and it melted in my mouth. I have no idea how they cook it in such a way that it does not get chewy but I was amazed. The greens and orange fruit mix below are the absolute perfect flavoring combination with the octopus and of optimum freshness.
I ordered the Ravioli Di Vitello Al Burro E Salvia and my wife got the Pappardelle Al Ragout Di Salsiccia. I am usually not that impressed with restaurant ravioli for the price but this was the best dish I have ever had in any Italian restaurant. The handmade ravioli melted in my mouth and the cream sauce was the makings of a food magician. My wife's Pappardelle was also one of those dishes that doesn't tend to stand out from restaurant to restaurant but oh boy was that not the case here! The sauce was so fresh and brilliant in flavor and the noodles perfectly cooked down to the second! I have no idea how they made Pappardelle taste like a magical experience like this but my wife stuffed herself until she could not eat another bite.
Then came the dessert! The Cannoli Siciliani was also a tastebud party of the finest kind. The perfectly crisp canoli paired with the perfectly balanced and vibrant filling flavor was... perfect! The finishing touch was the candied carmelized orange strip on top that was something straight out of Willy Wonka's magical flavor factory. It was amaaaazing! I was stuffed, my wife was stuffed, and yet we devouered this dessert!
The food was wonderfully crafted and delicious!
This restaurant is full of heart! You can taste the love in the homemade pasta!
Great food at reasonable prices. Service was excellent. A real neighborhood go-to place.
We made reservations for outside and sat outside despite a heavy rain, since the restaurant was bustling and full booked inside. The staff was great, extended the awning, and we never even got wet. The staff are all kind and engaging, and the food is delicious. If this was in walking distance from my home, it would be my neighborhood place for frequent dinners. I’ll be back!
I love this Place. The service was fantastic - our sever was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list- which is also terrific! I actually fell in love with this place because of the wine selection! The menu has a nice selection and the food has never disappointed!
We opted to sit outside and the noise level even with street traffic is not bad at all and they do a nice job with flowers and greenery.
Il Melograno is my neighborhood go to spot and I love to take friends and family who are visiting!
