Il Mattone is very much like the little neighborhood cafes that we enjoyed in Italy. The atmosphere is casual, the food simple and nicely prepared. The service is relaxed but always polite and attentive. The portions are generous, and served without garnish or fuss. It’s move to come here for a good unhurried supper and a time to catch up with friends’ news, or lunch with the girls. The artichokes are very good!
We always get the pizza!
This is agreat venue for Italian good on IE.
Il Mattone was a pleasant dining experience. Best bets are probably the simple salads and pastas. Avoid overlay ambitious fare.
Staff was pleasant and allowed us to enjoy our meal. All desserts looked great
Everything was delicious as usual.
I wasn't familiar with this restaurant and picked it blindly off the internet as a place to take my wife to celebrate our 34th Anniversary. Upon arrival, I was a little disappointed at the lack of ambiance/décor. It was cold enough inside to require you to keep your jacket on. The food was just ok but certainly not reflective of the price being charged for it. It basically lacked proper seasoning. I'm not giving a bad review but I just expected more.
Great food and great service. We will be back!!
Solid Italian offering! Great cappuccino!
Great food, good service with unique menu items along side of many standards. the grilled brussel-sprouts are really special as was the eggplant.
Worse tapas ever! Wine was passed its time. Ordered Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay. Both had to be returned and they opened new bottle of Chardonnay. Wine was just ok. I will never go again. The place was dusty and dirty. Place was really bad.
New Years Eve Dinner.
My wife and I love this restaurant mainly for their delicious food and helping us remember the good times we have spent visiting Italy. They serve several great dishes and appetizers. The grilled artichokes are out of this world. All the main courses are so flavorful and presented well with good size portions. The owner is there working hard to make sure his customers are happy. Excelkent Italian restaurant!
We have gone to this restaurant since it first opened at La Parolaccia. The owner, David, is almost always on site to make everybody feel welcome, whether it's your first time of your 50th! It is a fun to place to go as it's much like going to "Cheers" where everybody knows your name. The name changed several years ago, but ownership is the same. The food is consistently wonderful and very well priced. They take reservations and have a back room for large parties. I highly recommend it!
Very very noisy which reminded several of attendees why we prefer to eat at home. Noise is not limited to this particular site. But the caramelized Brussels Sprouts and the baked beet au gratin dishes were superb.
It was our first time there, and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good, the service excellent, and the atmosphere was very nice for our family. The restaurant has a very nice and appealing look on the inside.
Good Italian food, kinda pricey...lunch would be a better option.
We have enjoyed its proximity to the places we go to (the movies, shops, etc.) The food js very authentic Italian. Pasta is served al dente, as it sbould be. The menu is e,gensi e to include delicious, thin crusted pizza. My only criticism is that their meatballs are hard.
Food and service was very good but the tables are too close to each other. You can hear your neighbors conversations.
Food, service and environment was very nice....a little noisy-there seems to be a lot of young kids
One of our favorite Italian Restaurants for quality and taste. The pizza and pasta are always fresh and delicious. Cole has been our waiter every time we have eaten at Il Mattone and he, as well as the rest of the staff, are always attentive, cordial and right on the ball with everything we need. Great place!!!
A fun and energetic vibe with excellent food at reasonable prices. It has a sort of famlily feel to it. Loved our time there!
Was a little slow on the service which I believe was a direct result of the kitchen. The waiter was friendly, the atmosphere great, the owner even stopped by to say hi, which is always the sign of a good restaurant.
This was middle ground to meet our friends visiting from Texas. It was an overdue get together...the restaurant staff was friendly and attentive. Food was awesome and atmosphere was perfect, quiet allowing our conversation to be fluid. Overall, it is the perfect spot...we will be back.
The food and service are excellent and a very good value. The owner is friendly and treats you like an honored guest. Wine selection is very good and very fairly priced. Great spot for great Italian Food.
Wonderful experience, would recommend Would revisit when occasion arrises
Great menu and service. Good balance of semi-formal atmosphere and relaxed vibe.
I really wanted to like this place more than I ended up liking it. Having one server for the whole main dining room made things challenging (though she was great and really did her best). The food itself was just average. My gnocchi with gorgonzola had very little flavor. My wife had to return her arugula salad (simply did not look or taste fresh), and her fish was a bit above average. We were treated well and with courtesy throughout. Perhaps it was a bad night, but the food experience was just...average.
Not our first time here and certainly not our last.
The ambience is simple. Tables and chairs with enough room that you don't feel packed in.
Service was great. Server was knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients. Special preparation request was no problem at all.
Food came out hot, well plated and perfect portion.
Try the Bombollito. It's outstanding!
Lovely seasonal soup and salad! Very nice wait staff and fun spot to dine!
Interesting menu. Well-prepared food. Good wine list.
Wonderful food, never disappoints. Service and servers are very good. Our group of friends love this place.
Food was delicious and served hot. Service was great. One of the best Italian restaurants I've been to. Highly recommend it.
Great Italian restaurant in Claremont. Pizzas from the traditional wood oven are as close to traditional pizzas as you will find in the US. Rest of the dishes are great, too, but the pizzas are the reason to come to this place.
I ordered the filet mignon. It was honestly the worst filet I have ever been served. It was doused in a flavorless gravy. The mashed potatoes it was served with tasted like they came from a box. Terrible presentation. The service was extremely slow and we had to repeat all of our requests multiple times. It took 15 minutes to get the glass of wine I ordered. My salad arrived before the wine did. There was bread and a sauce to accompany it served. We requested more of the sauce and it took 10-15 minutes for it to be replenished. I would not return to this restaurant, nor would I recommend it to a friend.
Excellent food -great taste and great service. Menu is not ample at all, but all they serve is very tasty.
I enjoyed the eggplant very much! The service was excellent
Food was excellent but service was poor. Server was inattentive and lied when order was incorrect. Got dessert wrong too. Very noisy. Not a good place to talk.
Very good food, home made fresh pasta, tasty.
The best deserts ever, bread pudding and lemon cheesecake, both home made. The wine selection is somewhat limited but one can find a good glass of wine or one can bring their own bottle for a $15 corkage fee.
Highly recommend it.
I have eaten here several times. Usually it is pretty good. Tonight, the food was average. They had four good sized groups at once (8 each). Our table of four was served about 45 min. after our order. One person had their dinner 10 min. before the next one, then two others 10 min. later. Unfortunately, this was not their best effort. Usually they do a pretty decent job. I'll try again and hope for a better experience.
