I was looking for an upscale Italian after Circo closed. The space is the original Aquavit completely redone into a modern, comfortable Mediterranean. The service was excellent, but the menu was eclectic Italian. I had the ravioli filled with pheasant and partridge. They were tasteless, small, and probably frozen. The dessert my wife ordered , however was excellent . It was a warm zagblione with berries and she knows her zagblione. We will give it another try.
What an incredible experience! We were last to dine at 11:30. They could have turned us away. Instead they invited us in. The waiter and staff treated us so well! The food was the best Italian food we have had, especially my linguine with white clam sauce!
Divine food! Wonderful service, amazing menu.
Handmade pasta, delicious bread.
The staff is always warm and welcoming, and the food is great. I usually eat there at lunch, as it's near my office, so I usually have an appetizer and a pasta. This time it was gnocchi which melted in the mouth! The waiters are helpful in selecting a good wine by the glass (remember, it's lunchtime!)
Food was alright but not great and not worth the price I paid - Everything was generally too salty. Service was slow. Noise level was also too loud to hold conversation without yelling across the table.
Fantastic dinner in almost every way, but nearly ruined by an amazingly rude group of 5 people, and I’m sure the restaurant knows who I mean. Near the end of the night, a fellow diner stood up and gave the “shush” sound/finger on lips to the obnoxiously loud woman at that table, who SHOUTED to her companions all night. Result? Applause from the other patrons! PLEASE ban that table from this wonderful restaurant! Otherwise, terrific service, delicious food...
This WAS my go to elegant restaurant until Saturday evening. What was once a neighborhood jewel is now a restaurant for the masses. I had a special guest ( a producer) in from LA and had requested a table in the front of the room (for a 630 reservation). We arrived a few minutes early and I saw there we 2 tables up front and asked if we could sit at one of them. NOPE. We were escorted to the bar and asked if we would wait " a few minutes". 25 minutes later we were escorted past the open tables and to the back of the room next to a family of people getting up and down from the table all night. When I asked about sitting at the front table, I was told it was being held for a special request. WTH was mine on the opentable rezzie?
On the way out ( 830ish) the front table was still open and when I mentioned my dismay to the
maitre'd , I was again told it was being held for a "special request". Again, WTH was my request? Sorry Il Gattopardo, I have recommended you to many friends, but those days are over. Arrivaderci NOT.
BTW, I am not a disgruntled customer, as I almost never take the time to write a review, and if I do, it is only a glowing one.
As usual, the food, service and ambiance was perfect. I enjoy eating with folks who haven’t experienced it, and share Ing it with then
Great service and food, phenomenal wine, great ambience. Pricey but highly recommended.
Professional and enjoyable in all aspects: food, presentation, service, setting. Frequently take friends and clients and family.
The food and service were extraordinary. The ribeye steak done Pittsburg rare was the best steak I have ever eaten, They served a delicious amuse- bouche of arancini and pizzette. We ordered negronis which were generous and perfect. The service is excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.
The restaurant has a great feel. Not too big but exceptional service and excellent food. It was very convenient to our midtown hotel and we really enjoyed it
I have been going to IlanaGattopardo for years. Food, ambiance, service are excellent. I would like to see more wines available by the glass at reasonable prices.,,
Somos de Buenos Aires, estamos de vacaciones en Nueva York y festejamos nuestro aniversario número 42 en este restaurante y realmente no hay palabras para halagarlo: simplemente MAGISTRAL en todo sentido.
A great Italian restaurant. On time seating, great food, excellent service - cannot do better in NYC. Try the wine from the big bottle - but be prepared for the price it commands.
Just a lovely place; a little dated, to be sure, but incredibly elegant. All food was well prepared, and the staff graciously split the plates.
Wonderful brunch completely enjoyed the meal and the ambiance. We will return next time in NYC.
Best Italian restaurant in Manhattan in my opinion.
Much too loud. Very annoying in such a good restaurant. You need a lot of sound-proofing because of your low ceiling. A real problem.
Meh. Wanted to like it a lot more than I did. Service was well-intentioned but execution was not there. Twenty minute long wait after our reservation start time, friendly host but he never brought us menus, wound up eating at the bar and the bartender disappeared on us. Would not recommend. Expensive and unremarkable food.
Il Gattopardo is an old-fashioned New York gem that always feel like a treat. The staff is impeccable, kind, attentive, and pleasurable.
The cuisine is incredible and not pretentious.
Very attentive staff and excellent if you are going for an Italian dinner. We went for brunch - The food was barely average and the pricing for orange juice and coffee was too high. Orange juice was served with tons of ice cubes instead of straight up. We were very disappointed.
Dining here is a delight. We do so whenever we have the opportunity to see a matinee in the area. Considering we live well outside of NY state, this is a true complement.
Spectacular as always
The music at the Jazz Brunch was not jazz. The musicians were unprepared for the venue and after each song would discuss what they wanted to play. The food had great flavor but portions were way too small. Brunch selections were not really good and not what one would expect for brunch options. Service was lacking from the waiter. The manager was warm and welcoming.
Food was great so was the service.
Best Italian restaurant this side of the Atlantic. Fanatical foodies, clairvoyant waiters, fabulous (and reasonably priced) wine list.
Visiting NYC for my husbands birthday and were double booked at another restaurant. Caught in a bind, we found Il Gattopardo on a list of great pre-theater restaurants in Midtown. The dinner ended up being the best meal I have ever had. Unfortunately, I am unable to share the dish I had because the waiter had recommended it and I never even saw it on the menu. It was heavenly. The wine list was great and the dessert menu was divine. The staff was attentive and saw to it that we had a great evening.
The setting is great and the food is so authentic.
A terrific lunch, very attentative and warm staff, delicious food wonderful space
Underwhelming food and service in nice atmosphere with average but slow service at a premium price. Noise level simply unacceptable for normal conversation. Would never return, nor recommend to anyone.
Wonderful food, great atmosphere and excellent service made for an awesome meal.
Service was disappointing. The two welcome appetizers they provided were dull and not tasty. Regular menu ok. Entrees were satisfactory but given the pricing, disappointing.
Seemed to be mostly business groups.
Would not book again
Always superb. Had not been to the new location since I moved from New York. Nicer space, but food just as delicious as before.
A very fine authentic southern Italian dining experience. Dishes were delicious; service was excellent
We had a lovely night out on the town. The food and wine was amazing. I highly recommend the Veal Loin and Halibut. Enjoy!
One of my favorites. Greeting is always so welcoming and friendly. The food never disappoints.
Excellent food. Recommended anytime.
Unbelievable from start to finish!
Authentic and genuine Italian with the same vibe as Italy.
The food is for particular foodies and it won’t disappoint.
Wine complimented the food and was recommendation from our waiter.
Grazie for an unforgettable experience
We go often and it is always great.
The unique uncomfortable situation was at the reception when the Maître tried to place us in a bad table, close to the door in a freezing windy day, having available tables best located, even if I had done the reservation almost one month before. But the rest was perfect, the waiters, the food, the ambiance, etc.
