Il Gattopardo Ratings and Reviews
Unbelievable from start to finish!
Authentic and genuine Italian with the same vibe as Italy.
The food is for particular foodies and it won’t disappoint.
Wine complimented the food and was recommendation from our waiter.
Grazie for an unforgettable experience
The unique uncomfortable situation was at the reception when the Maître tried to place us in a bad table, close to the door in a freezing windy day, having available tables best located, even if I had done the reservation almost one month before. But the rest was perfect, the waiters, the food, the ambiance, etc.
Overall, I thought it was overpriced, even for New York City. I had the roast pork with braised broccoli rabe. I am not that familiar with southern Italian food, but this dish as uninspired. The pork was tender but not very flavorful. The broccoli rabe was good. My wife had the seafood risotto and we both thought it to be very, very good. I would certainly recommend that dish. Overall, I think that next time we will eat at Bistro Milano again. That restaurant is only half a block away and the food and wine present a better overall value with an excellent experience.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. Lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Wonderful selection of authentic Italian dishes with a touch of creativity. We had a zucchini parmigiana (not eggplant) with smoked mozzarella which was light and very tasty. I also had fabulous butternut squash soup and my husband enjoyed his paccheri pasta with Genovese sauce. The staff was attentive and friendly. The owner, Gianfranco, is always welcoming and charming. Such a civilized gem in midtown. We love the Leopard as well !
This is the real deal. The service was exceptional, the food fantastic, and the Italian wine list was extensive. They know their stuff. I would go back in a heart beat. We were dining pre-theater and had plenty of time. Great for a dinner meeting, or an intimate night for two.
No atmosphere downstairs. Used to visit and recommend often to colleagues. No more. Manager who checked us in looked at my children 6 and 8 and said "downstairs". And had reservations. My kids were better behaved than adults upstairs creating scene. Had my family and some old decrepit family next to us. Called manager and said Mandy will call to address. Never did. Food is adequate not great and horrible for price. See ya and don't recommend. New location stinks.
Loved everything about this restaurant - the only complaint was the live music - it would have been nice if it was not as loud and jazzy - we were seated near the performer and we had a hard time having a conversation - I would say something a bit low key would be much more enjoyable although I have to say the performer was very talented and in a different venue would be very enjoyable.
My wife and I found the staff very good and professional. Our meals were not great. My wife had a sea bass dish which she enjoyed very much. I tried it as well and it was excellent. My meal however was at best mediocre. I had the veal loin. It was over cooked and cooked unevenly. Mean it was well done two thirds of the way thru and medium the other third. I also found it a bit tough. We were also disappointed and frankly surprised by the very sterile decor. Being such a grand old town house with such a great history we would have thought the decor would have been more representative of the historical background of the building. The white and black color scheme and the bare walls certainly did not create a warm comfortable dinning environment.
