Il Gattopardo Ratings and Reviews
Meh. Wanted to like it a lot more than I did. Service was well-intentioned but execution was not there. Twenty minute long wait after our reservation start time, friendly host but he never brought us menus, wound up eating at the bar and the bartender disappeared on us. Would not recommend. Expensive and unremarkable food.
Very attentive staff and excellent if you are going for an Italian dinner. We went for brunch - The food was barely average and the pricing for orange juice and coffee was too high. Orange juice was served with tons of ice cubes instead of straight up. We were very disappointed.
The music at the Jazz Brunch was not jazz. The musicians were unprepared for the venue and after each song would discuss what they wanted to play. The food had great flavor but portions were way too small. Brunch selections were not really good and not what one would expect for brunch options. Service was lacking from the waiter. The manager was warm and welcoming.
Visiting NYC for my husbands birthday and were double booked at another restaurant. Caught in a bind, we found Il Gattopardo on a list of great pre-theater restaurants in Midtown. The dinner ended up being the best meal I have ever had. Unfortunately, I am unable to share the dish I had because the waiter had recommended it and I never even saw it on the menu. It was heavenly. The wine list was great and the dessert menu was divine. The staff was attentive and saw to it that we had a great evening.
The setting is great and the food is so authentic.
Unbelievable from start to finish!
Authentic and genuine Italian with the same vibe as Italy.
The food is for particular foodies and it won’t disappoint.
Wine complimented the food and was recommendation from our waiter.
Grazie for an unforgettable experience
The unique uncomfortable situation was at the reception when the Maître tried to place us in a bad table, close to the door in a freezing windy day, having available tables best located, even if I had done the reservation almost one month before. But the rest was perfect, the waiters, the food, the ambiance, etc.
Overall, I thought it was overpriced, even for New York City. I had the roast pork with braised broccoli rabe. I am not that familiar with southern Italian food, but this dish as uninspired. The pork was tender but not very flavorful. The broccoli rabe was good. My wife had the seafood risotto and we both thought it to be very, very good. I would certainly recommend that dish. Overall, I think that next time we will eat at Bistro Milano again. That restaurant is only half a block away and the food and wine present a better overall value with an excellent experience.
