Il Gattopardo Ratings and Reviews
The Restaurant location is very good, the whole ambiance is nice and and the service quick and accurate. I have been eating all over the world for my business and I found this restaurant of good quality but not exceptional for what they charged. Definitely most of the dishes are way overpriced same for the drinks.
Absolutely delightful dinner. The service was outstanding and the food was amazing. We had two specials. The Dover sole tasted so fresh and delicious that it melted in your mouth. The veal and porcini ragout over housemade fettuccine was over the top. Great ambiance. All around a perfect place to celebrate an occasion. Can’t wait to go back.
A nice garden-level restaurant. A quirky interior from the 1970s and a pleasant staff make for a most pleasant meal.
Great Italian menu featuring appetizers, a pasta course and a main course, though you’re not obliged to order from all three courses.
We had a great time and enjoyed a full featured experience.
My friend and I at the last minute decided to duct into Il Gattopardo for an early dinner. We had never been before, nor heard of it. It is located on the ground floor of a beautiful townhouse. The atmosphere : there is a small cozy bar upfront when you enter. Perfect for a cocktail, or while you wait for your table. The restaurant is el-shaped. The front part is more open, while the back a little tight. We sat in the back area, which was fine, but get the front seating if you're on a date (we were two girlfriends hanging out). The food was very good. We questioned if one item on the menu was "in season" and the waiter not only asked the chef, but the chef came out to chat with us as well. Great service! It can get a tic noisy, but not so much that you can't hear your dinner partners.
Food and service was outstanding, could not be more attentive. From the minute you walk in to the minute you leave all the staff make sure you are fully catered for.
The food was amazing I had the soup from the special board and it was lovely, followed by the pasta with spicy sausage and this was also beautiful.
Would highly recommend here for a beautiful meal
Superb menu with an excellent chef; the rack of lamb has wonderful rosemary seasoning and melts in your mouth. Several fish dishes are standouts, including a baked cod served in the casserole dish. Chic, contemporary interior, perhaps a bit on the austere side. Best evidence they are doing everything right? This long-established restaurant right behind MOMA has doubled their space and they still don't miss a beat. Highly recommended!
The staff were friendly. A place I have been to several times before and decided to bring my family. The MD was sure to move us from a table set up for us in a lovely part of the restaurant to a table in the back of the restaurant, only assuming this was because neither my children nor my husband were not wearing jackets. I can understand and respect this choice as it is an upscale establishment, therefore jackets in the front. However, a few things; 1. dress code is not mentioned (and again, i am assuming here) 2. the level of service and the ambiance of our location should be equal to other locations i have experienced there and we were not provided with the same level of service, 3. the back of the restaurant is more bleak in atmosphere than the rest of the establishment. All seats in the house should have atmosphere and when in a restaurant, you should not feel as if you are sitting in the back. Be sure the decor wraps around to the back.
Way overrated. Don't waste your time or money. Food was average but prices weren't. Lamb chops were overcooked. I asked for medium rare and got well done so it wasnt even close! Crudo di branzino wasn't seasoned at all and had no taste. Big time gap between courses. Bill was incorrect with someone's bar food tab transferred to my check. It was $21 So I'm wondering whether they tried to sneak it in. Good thing I audited my bill. How can all of those things happen in one meal?
We were late due to a delay in arriving in New York. The staff were most accommodating and seated us promptly. The noise level is high because the restaurant is so popular.
The rack of lamb was seasoned perfectly and the veal loin was beautifully prepared. The service is prompt but not intrusive.
I recommend the restaurant for a lovely meal.
