Really good - people are great setting was very nice
This is one of the loveliest restaurants. The service, and I cannot say this enough, is impeccable and welcoming. The mark of a great restaurant is foreseeing the needs of customers. Well done. We loved every bite too! Perfect evening!
Our second time! First for lunch and now for dinner. We will return when we return to NYC.
Read about this place on several websites, all ranking this establishment in the top ten places to have Italian in NYC. I reserved a table for my wife and I for our 10th wedding anniversary weekend. Honestly, I’m not sure why they are so highly regarded. We had reservations for 5pm. Upon arrival, we had to wait 10-15 minutes to be seated, although they had just opened. When we were seated, the service we were treated to was less than expected. It took around 15 minutes for our server to take our order. As our wine glasses set empty, we actually had to ask for a wine list for them to be refilled. Not something that I would ever expect from an upscale Italian restaurant. The food was mediocre. I had the seafood couscous and my wife had the Halibut. In the middle of our meal, the restaurant manager brought out two different appetizers (?) that the wait staff had forgot to bring out. No explanation of either one. My wife and I are both ova-pescatarian. The first was a croquet that was filled with meat. Not something we would order. The second was a pastry puff that was filled with an unknown substance that tasted more like dog food (sorry, just being honest). Once our plates had been taken and we said that we were done, we had to wait at our table with empty water glasses (!) and ask to get our check. We were not impressed at all with this restaurant. Both of us expected more. Both of us were disappointed.
Food was excellent, except that the duck was a touch over cooked. Just a touch but still, at a place of this general caliber.... Great service. A bit noisy at first, got better as the evening wore on. Expensive.
Excellent as always - super lamb and great service
Food and service does not justify the price. Won’t be going back.
Delicious food in an elegant surrounding. Their pasta dishes are perfectly prepared and the service is attentive.
We had a warm & wonderful evening out celebrating our 20th Anniversary! The staff was friendly and attentive making our meal that much more special and the food was deliciously authentic Italian!
Il Gattopardo is an excellent restaurant all around. The food is amazing! While they are absolutely entitled to be pretentious, they are not. The service is excellent yet warm and friendly. Their staff is some of the most knowledgeable I've ever encountered.
Everything was terrific, my manager's favorite place and now it's mine. The food was superb as the service! Highly recommend it.
Outstanding food and service. Flavours were out of this world and the service was top notch!
The Jazz brunch is a must. You can order amazing breakfast food like ricotta pancakes or something from their regular menu. The butternut squash stuffed tortellini in pistachio butter sauce was delicious. The sauce was creamy and buttery, just right. We had a perfect Italian white wine to accompany finishing off a great Sunday meal. Service is impeccable and the jazz is perfect.
Lovely restaurant. Beautiful setting in a townhouse in midtown. We had a wonderful dinner with friends. The owner worked with us on a busy Saturday night with friends coming in from out of town who's flights were delayed. He moved our reservation to a better time for us; still in the height of dinner hour. Food was incredible. Service was friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to going back.
The cuisine was authentic southern Italian, creative and delicious. The portions were ample and the service was great. The wine list had a nice range of Italian (and other) wines, but be prepared to spend at least $100 to get a recent vintage Barolo or Barbaresco, and much more from anything with cellar time.
Excellent service, staff could not be more welcoming and informative, and of course the food superb. First time here and definitely will be my go to for a great evening out.
Everything about this restaurant is always outstanding.
I have been to this restaurant several times over the past several years and it never disappoints. The food was beyond delicious, the service wonderful and the atmosphere elegant but not intimidating.
First class in all aspects
OUtstanding service and menu. Quiet back area. superb fresh tomato sauce - on special eggplant ravioli. Delicious radiccio salad, as was plain greens salad. Whole fresh sole beautifully prepared. And the fruit plate and the cassata Siciliano to finish. Wish they had an outpost in San Francisco.
I really love this restaurant, because of the food and atmosphere. However, if you remove one of those things, then the experience is greatly diminished. We ate there on Friday and our table of 6 needed to be extended to an 8 which, to their credit, the restaurant happily accommodated at short notice. However, we were very disappointed to find that our party was banished to the basement. The basement is a very odd space because it is split into two spaces: a traditional basement space, and then leading off that, an atrium. We were walked through the completely empty basement, into the atrium to sit with just two other tables that finished early and left us alone. Furthermore, it was very poorly lit, cold, lacked any form of ambience, and had the added bad luck of poor acoustics. We felt like the poor relations that no one wanted to sit with. Food was delicious as always, but I sincerely suggest you request to sit upstairs - for $125 a head, this was a disappointing evening.
Outstanding food and service. Excellent menu and wine list.
Unbelievable experience. A must destination for anyone in Manhattan. Lorenzo is a hands on presence throughout The Leopard!!
Exceptional service and atmosphere.
This restaurant is consistently great. The zucchini lasagna appetizer is my favorite, closely followed by the mushroom risotto. They are accommodating and welcoming. My daughter has a peanut allergy and the server walked us through the menu to ensure safety. Will definitely return.
Food and service both outstanding and authentic. The vibe of the restaurant comes from the many lively conversations at each table versus piped in music or something contrived - refreshing.
Many open tables and tried to stick us in the back. Never felt like we were important guests
We've never had a bad meal at this restaurant. The consistency is solid. We are always made to feel like special guests when we dine here. We enjoyed a Saturday brunch; the live music created a wonderful ambience. I'm glad we made a reservation. All the tables were full when we finished eating.
My third time at the restaurant and each one has been an outstanding experience. The food is great consistently, the service is intuitive and unobtrusive and the crowd is always fun to watch
Food fab service was lovely and accommodating
Great food , very attentive but not overbearing service, specials a tad expensive. Will return.
Excellent authentic Italian cuisine. Professional, friendly, service. Expensive.
It was for my husband’s Birthday celebration, even though I indicated on the Reservation, somehow they neglected to acknowledge it. Otherwise it was an enjoyable evening.
Highly recommended! I've been a couple of times now, for dinner and lunch, and both times the food and service were outstanding! The ambience is very nice and comfortable and the staff is friendly and professional. Pricing is typical for the area, which is to say, its expensive, but not more than others and very much well worth it.
I've never been to a restaurant where I've been asked to move tables half way though my meal. Before we even had our main courses, we were ushered to a table near the kitchen because another couple arrived and wanted our table instead. The manager knew it was rude since he offered us free desserts, which felt condescending, patronizing and cheap. A better gesture perhaps would have been to comp drinks or food that we had actually already ordered. It was humiliating to be treated as if our reservation and the fact that we were there first didn't count for anything. If the service hadn't been so slow we may have been closer to finishing our meal, but that was out of our hands and even if they were trying to accommodate two seatings, there was an open free table, just apparently not good enough for the new diners who had arrived, but adequate enough for us. Will not return and will not recommend.
Fabulous Italian dinner in a lovely setting on a quiet street in midtown. Food was spectacular from the Burrata salad, through the veal ravioli to the sole which was our entree - all specials for the night, and all wonderful. Strongly recommend Il Gattopardo. Like many top-end NYC restaurants, extremely pricey, but many superior wine choices for a reasonable price which helped. Two of us shared the three dishes and the wine but no dessert - and the dinner plus tip totaled about $250. Add an additional entree and we would have been north of $300. Still, a wonderful dinner and the service was helpful and attentive.
Excellent food and service in a city with no shortage of great Italian restaurants. Flavors were perfectly balanced, timing impeccable and perfect setting for an intimate or business lunch.
Speciality of the house cabbage wrapped meat balls in thyme sauce. Were dry, bland, no seasoning and o sauce
Enjoyed a great traditional Neapolitan style dinner!
Il Gattopardo is my favorite restaurant in New York. This was my fifth time eating here and I will continue to come back. I shared my salad, pasta and a huge ribeye steak with my guest and we were stuffed. The staff are polite, attentive and efficient.
A reservation is a good idea. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy.
