impeccable service, quiet yet cozy with outstanding, homemade pasta. Very authentic.
Very good food great service terrible interior design. The dining room is in a townhouse but looks like it was decorated by someone whose day job is decorating office space. Remodeling the the room would go a long way toward improving the overall experience
Great service and food, We had special requests for our daughter and they did it without a problem
The food, service, etc. was fabulous!!! Can't wait to come back.
Exquisita la comida.
Wonderful anniversary dinner! Attentive yet not intrusive service! Excellent meal!
Comida muy exquisita
Maybe it was an off-night for the Chef, but the food was sub-par. I ordered the veal and it was tough and lacked flavor. My friend ordered a combination seafood dish and it was overcooked. This was a birthday celebration Service was OK, nothing extraordinary. I don't mind paying for a good meal --- this one stung a bit.
Amazing food. Always a pleasure. Wish we could come more frequently. Really high quality fish. Happy to be back!
Very good food, despite the strictures of the traditional Italian menu. Calm and elegant ambiance. Warm and welcoming service from a knowledgeable and sensitive waiter. Will come again!
Always with elegance. From selection of wines to cheese to waiter's knowledge and services.
Visiting New York for Christmas and decided to have Christmas dinner here. A great selection! The food and service were excellent.
Very unhappy. Food poor. Service ok.
Service not correct...
Fabulous Neopolitan cuisine that never fails to please. Reservations are a must
Fabulous Brunch/Unique and Delicious. Outstanding service. Very special Highly recommend.
The service was incredible and we loved everything we had!
Very attentive great food with delicious fresh fish
The food is always exceptional as is the service! It was incredibly busy due to the holiday and therefore somewhat noisy. It is one of my favorite go to restaurants, the food never disappoints!
I enjoyed this restaurant so much that I have visited twice in the last month. The food is outstanding. I had the thin-sliced sea bass served on greens. It was light and fresh! Service is attentive. It tends to be more quiet which is great for a night chatting with friends or business associates.
Great food! Great service! Great time! What more can I say!
Exceptional food and great service. A definite gem sitting in Midtown.
Thought we would give this restaurant one last try (used to come here a lot but our last dining experience here was horrible). The restaurant has increased their prices, and with the quality of the food that they are serving at these prices, it really isn't worth it. We won't be back. Except for their lasagna, the food is pretty mediocre (my cod fish was actually bad: under cooked potatoes, chewy fish and way too salty). With all of the Italian restaurants in NYC, there are far better choices.
We had a disagreeable waiter and a foolish looking man in an oversized scarf walking about the restaurant surveying the tables. We sat as all of the tables around us were turned with new customers. Then, they all got served ahead of us. The disagreeable waiter stammered about our dinner ticket being misplaced. Dinner itself was so-so. I’ve had better salads, pastas and desserts. The place is do ‘80s it’s embarrassing, down to mirrors on the walls. The place is yesterday’s news and even when we were served I longed for a better meal.
I really want to be able to write a better review. I had hoped that in a former Rockefeller townhouse the ambiance would have been better but this is a nicely finished modern basement. The staff was absolutely fantastic. No complaints whatsoever there. The cocktails were great. It was the food that was lacking. The tomato and cucumber salad was almost tasteless. Perhaps that is the season but we were hoping it would have been better. The farro lasagne was dry. Farro might be good for gnocchi but not for lasagne. The branzino was fantastic. I can recommend it. But the meatloaf was also dry and not particularly flavorful. Perhaps worst of all everything was mostly tepid but definitely not hot. I can recommend the zabaglione. That too was good and full of berries and the coffee was good as well. Lastly the price was not as much as could have been expected so that was some compensation for a rather lackluster meal. We had hoped for so much more.
I visited Il Gattopardo with my fiance for her birthday and we had a very pleasant experience. The staff is incredible with their attentiveness. The moment a plate was finished it was whisked away without delay but done so inconspicuously so as not to interrupt the experience. The food was delivered very promptly and the pasta was still steaming and al dente. The food itself was a little underwhelming to be honest. We started with the Parmigianna Zucchini which was delicious and our favorite dish of the evening. We then moved on to the pasta and chose the Spaghetti with Grey Mullet Botarga and the Mezze Maniche Pasta. Both dishes were slightly bland although the pasta was perfectly al dente which cannot be understated in its importance. The cocktails were very good as well but nothing earth-shattering. Overall a very good restaurant but I would've thought an authentic Italian restaurant would have pasta dishes with a little more flavor and panache.
All around excellent experience and food!
Great food nice atmosphere
Service was prompt and what you would expect for price
Quality of food exceptional
Great food, great location and great ambience
How is it possible that one smallish restaurant can pack people into a place as if they were sheep????
Human beings are humans, not animals!
The noise level made me sick; the fish I ordered was smelly and old.
Never in my life will I visit this forsaken place again!
We often chose I Gattopardo for dinner when we visit NYC. The food is unbelievable. The staff is super
friendly and the experience is delightful. We had a cod dish that was on the menu that night and my husband and I both agreed it was the best fish dish we have ever had.
Always eat here on our visit to New York food is outstanding and service very personable
Great restaurant- always pleased w our meal and service.
Excellent as usual. Very kind and efficient Brazilian waitress.
Went here while visiting and we wish we would’ve spent our last meal in NYC elsewhere. Arrived early and was told to take a seat at the bar. While waiting we saw that The manager was flustered and arguing with guests over coat checks and reservations. The manager handed people the wrong coats and sometimes someone else’s coat. Red flag one.
Once seated, a waiter came and provided us drinks and menu. Went through the specials very quickly and didn’t allow us to ask questions and if we did he was clearly frustrated at repeating himself. Red flag two.
Other reviews say the food is bland, but Our food was over spiced. Our fish was soaked in vinegar and our pasta was just okay. I had to send back one of the specials because it was so salty that I couldn’t taste anything. Nothing special about the food or drinks.
All in all, this is not a place I would recommend. We spent a good amount of money and if we could do it over again I would have spent elsewhere. We ate $2 pizza that was better than this place.
First rate, as always.
It was a enjoyable evening. Good food and good wine
Lasagna was served cold. sent back. reheated, crispy burned on top. very disappointed
Thoroughly an outstanding experience! The meal, ambiance & service were beyond impeccable! The meal was absolutely delicious. We were going to the Christmas Show at Radio City so within walking distance and not your typical "kid friendly" restaurant and though our 12 yr old daughter was the only “young” person in the restaurant they treated us with such kindness and she loved being treated like such a young lady. They catered to her and to us and we felt like we were the only ones in the dining room. It was truly a spectacular evening. Miguel our head waiter was out of this world! Watching the teams of staff serve was a true delight and it is an art form at Il Gattopardo. Il Gattopardo is a true NYC classic! Cannot wait to go back. Thank you for making our quintessential New York Christmas weekend complete.
Wonderful and special experience. Wine and food exceptional.
