goood food in a quiet room. very nice staff. wines are a bit too pricy
Business dinner. It was perfect. We will be back. When booking I asked for a quiet and isolated table. We had it. The food was great. Service is discreet and efficient.
Excellent staff and chef. Delicious meals in an attentive atmosphere. We will return!
Food was very good. Service was great. Waiter was friendly and had conversations with us. Made us feel at home. I am on a strict eating regiment and they prepared my dinner as requested.
The event was a birthday the restaurant set !
Ill Gattopardo —
My 25 year background as a chef leads me to this review - which I have never done before.
Wine service was poor by the glass - my first mistake @ 20 dollars a glass.
Half opened bottle brought to the table pouring 20 bucks / sloppy. Keep it at the bar.
Appitzer super expensive 4 bites / poor presentation!
Entree was the better moment that I’ll Gattopardo had - rack of lamb very good - ordered med rare - came to table very close to raw - chewy because it was under cooked.
Veal dish of my guest was very good - old school clean tasty.
Over all defiantly not worth the $260 price tag for 2 people — and I don’t drink !! Lol
Food is always top-notch. Service excellent. Welcoming atmosphere. Intimate setting. Bravo!
Accoustics are such that the noise level makes it difficult to converse
My fiancee and I were in town for the week and looking for some great Italian food. This restaurant was highly rated and a relatively short walk from our hotel on Central Park. The food was outstanding. The service was perfect; not hovering but there when we need the wait staff. Quiet dining, easy conversation partly because we ate early to get to a play and beat the rush. It was a great experience and we will be back. Brent & Deanna
We stumbled on this restaurant last year and it's just wonderful, a neighborhood gem, unfussy, comfortable and lovely. Great food, that's always fresh and delicious, with personable, yet stellar professional service, and the wonderful wines I've tried here have become my favorites. I could eat here every day.
We went to Il Gattopardo for a Sat brunch for the jazz. Every single part of our experience was excellent!! I cant wait to return at our next trip to the city. The tomato soup with basil was amazing. We had the frittata and omelet, both which was tasty. The food was served fresh and hot and the staff is very attentive. The music was lovely. Highly recommend!
very special Midtown location withoutstanding food and service
Very noise, waiters not friendly, bad cost-benefit ratio.
Lovely food and service! We went in for the dry-aged Rib-Eye we saw on the menu as we were strolling. Alas, we returned on a holiday Monday and they were out of it following the busy weekend. The dishes we selected were delicious and would have been a shame to miss. Branzino with escarole and olives was beautifully flavored moist and awesome as was the Clam Linguine. We'll be back.
We had a delicious antipasto sampler that the chef selected and a light tasty pasta course before the entrées which were equally well prepared. The wine selection was perfect.
Great food, great service
Everything is great at Gattapardo...almost like being in Milan. They are, however, not shy about their prices and raising them seemingly without reason. So be forewarned, but by all means go !
One of my favorite New York restaurants. Great food, service and ambiance.
It's been ages since we've visited, but it was worth the wait for our anniversary. Each course was a treat for our tastebuds, and the service was beyond stellar.
Stellar across the menu. Traditional Neapolitan food. Wine list is impeccable and long. Favorites are zucchini parm, branzino, steak. But I rate the restaurant most highly on experience and front of the house treatment. The team is first rate and the ambience is as well.
Restaurant came high recommended and was spot on. Excellent food and great service.
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at
Il Gattopardo. Our dinner and wine were exceptional as was the top notch service. This one of New York’s real restaurant gems, oozing an understated elegant sophistication. Gattopardo is a restaurant to take the special people in your life or important business clients. We look forward to our next dinner at Il Gattopardo. Bravo!!
Interesting and stylish but expensive for the quality of food served.
Food was absolutely delicious! Best we’ve had in a long time. Everyone is our party raved about each course. Service was attentive and pleasant. The atrium looks great but otherwise the ambience is lackluster, a shame as it is in a beautiful town house.
We live in the city and never visited, received a recommendation and were pleased that we tried the place out. The service was excellent - I would have expected some acknowledgment since we flagged that we were celebrating an anniversary. Will be back.
Overpriced, food was nice but not fabulous.Wines also overpriced.Service nevertheless was very good.
The specials were perfect and the Ribeye was fantastic!
This is my favorite restaurant in NYC. The service is impeccable, the food never fails to delight and you are never rushed through your meal so they can flip a table. It is not inexpensive, but it is a wonderful dining experience that we always make sure we have plenty of time to enjoy.
Been here four times. This is the first time I had a bad dish . Wheat pasta with mushrooms. The dish was rushed . No pasta . It was a plate of mushrooms. Main dishes have become very expensive. You have to go on a expense account only . That’s what all of the restaurant clients are anyway.
We visited Il Gattopardo for brunch this past Sunday. As we expected, everything was delicious. I had the ravioli special....this is homemade and you can taste the difference...so light and perfectly prepared with a very light tomato basil sauce....yummmm. My husband chose the french toast, he loved it. The jazz musicians were great, just a lovely meal. The service is impeccable as well.
I have eaten here many times before, but the food this time was just mediocre, especially for the price.
The food is extraordinary . Great flavors. Service is on point. Waiter was very knowledgable about the wines and what would go well with the dishes we ordered.
Only thing I would like to see on my return visit is gluten free bread. They have gluten free pasta so why not the bread.
If you want an outstanding meal with service to match. Go!
Always dine at Il Gattopardo when in NYC...never disappointed!
We have enjoyed Il Gattopardo for years and always counted on a wonderful dining experience in every way.
On Friday night, we brought 2 friends viaiting from Italy. Our waiter kept pushing more appetizers/suggesting the more expensive bottles of wine. We knew what and how we wanted to order.
He didn’t seem to pay attention to what was going on at our table, pouring frizzante water into natural water glasses, pouring more wine into the glass of one guest who said she didn’t want anymore.
Two of us ordered the branzino which is typically brought to the table for display, as it is an impressive fish, and then taken away to be de-boned and put on plates to serve. Our waiter “walked by our table”, briefly lifting the fish up, not stopping and continued off with it to plate.
As I have said, we have always enjoyed Il Gattopardo but when we spend $500 for 4 to dine, we expect a more thoughtful experience.
This is our must-go-to dinner restaurant in NYC. The staff, abundant but not hovering, knows without asking how you enjoy the food. (The waiter will ask once, but then is attentive to an eye or a hand.)
The cuisine is high Italian. Fish, branzino and the fruit de mare shellfish dish in our last visit, is exceptional. The eggplant risotto is a shareable starter, though you might not want to share.
Food was very good. Our waiter was overworked with at large party but still attentive. That large party was loud which was annoying. There is very little acoustical treatment in the restaurant. Even with this, we would recommend it.
Consistently Outstanding and recommend wholeheartedly.
Special branzino great and spring veg ravioli perfect! 2010 Chianti velvety smooth ! Xavier was one of THE best waiters in NYC! It has been a while since i was here but i will be back soon!!!!! Just fab!
Took my lovely girlfriend to eat here for a romantic dinner for her 30th birthday. She loved it. I loved it. Food was delicious. Wine options
Food overall was excellent. Quality ingredients and well prepared. My burrata was excellent, fresh, light with very sweet melon for tatse. The pasta with clams was probably the best I’ve had outside of Italy and definitely better than the highly rated Italian restaurants in New York. My guests had the Bottarga pasta which was also al dente and very tasty.
Staff were courteous and friendly and the
service was impeccable throughout; always there when you needed something but not overbearing. The restaurant was modern and just about cosy but not oppulent. All in all a wonderful experience and a place I shall return to.
I have been going there for at least 10 years and they never disappoint!
