We always order from the specials menu...Lentil soup and Grilled Dover Sole this time.
Outstanding with super service and great wine.
Busy for a Monday night and possibly the wait staff was not prepared. We had to wait awhile to put a drink order in and had to ask if there were specials. We had to wait to place our order, too but once we did , each course came out perfectly timed. Pasta with clams was delicious.
Excellent food and service. Our first time there but it won’t be the last.
A phenomenal find, great food, atmosphere and service!
Always one of my favorites. Recommend it to everyone
Went to Il Gattopardo on Saturday evening at 5pm prior to a show at Radio City Music Hall. Perfect timing to have a relaxing dinner before a 7pm show. We were greeted very pleasantly and service was efficient and timely. The manager came over several times to make sure we enjoyed our meals. All the food was delicious. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. It is somewhat expensive but great for a special occasion.
Fantastic! Everything was outstanding: food, service, ambiance! Had my meals several times and never was disappointed! Will definitely recommend for brunches, lunches and dinners!
Wonderful dinner experience.
A superb formal restaurant- a rarity these days - with professional service that is charming. Fit for foodies. Beautifully prepared and simply delicious meal.
Loved everything about this place. The wine they selected was perfect, and the food what similar to what we experienced in Tuscany. I recommend this place for any special event or evening.
Loved our experience.
Food was delicious and we would absolutely go back again.
Food was good. The table next to us received an amuse bouche which we did not. They said it was not that good. Had very long wait times between courses. Pasta was very aldente. Main courses; rack of lamb, sea bass, branzino very good. Finished dessert before coffee and cappuccino arrived. They did take coffees off the bill. The waiter said there would be some sort of candy which we were to get at the end of the meal but did not. I asked as we were leaving. One of the managers said they were out but then the front desk girl produced one for our group of 4. Waiter kept stepping on my foot to refill water which was annoying.
Picked Il Gattopardo based on other recommendations online. 35th Anniversary dinner and really could not have picked a better place. The food was fantastic and our waiter was very attentive. They even brought out candles with our desserts as I had put a note in the reservation that it was our anniversary. When we are back in NYC we will be back. Only change I would make would be to request a table along one of the walls of the restaurant, we were in the middle so while not a big deal, we would just recommend it.
We always have a fantastic meal here! Excellent food, and the peraonalized service cannot be matched anywhere in the city.
From the moment the Host greeted us, till we sadly had to depart, Gattopardo was not just a gastronomical delight that is a MUST RETURN TO on every trip to NYC to navigate through the entire menu, but a warm, welcoming, customer first embrace that left us lingering as long as possible. If we had come for dinner, we would have indulged on the Whole Branzino, but the Branzino Crudo and Carbonara were a wonderful compliment to the Jazz for an unforgettable brunch. Bravo to the chef and staff for a full dining experience that will make any diner understand what five star service and food are meant to be.
Very lovely antipasti, salads, secondi pastas and mains. Excellent wine selection. Can be a bit noisy for conversation. Excellent waiters and hostess.
Great food and wine. Service could be faster.
Impeccable food beautifully prepared and served.
Had a lovely experience. Post-theater dinner wit friends. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was attentive without being stifling. They were very accommodating when we asked to be moved due to the noise of the next table. Will definitely go back.
Love this place!
We loved the pasta, the salad, the bread. The service was superb. The desserts are heavenly.
What a wonderful dining experience. The food was delicious, the service perfect. A beautiful sophisticated ambiance in a local neighborhood gem. Will be back next time we’re in New York.
Son visiting from California so a MOMA visit followed by a great dinner at Il Gattopardo. With the kind help of Vifardo we enjoyed our food and wine. The fiano, falanghina, and aglianicicoI I, all Campania wines were all fine. Each started and main was delicious and well proportioned: mozzerella en carroza, The crudo, faro salad were fine starters
The mains and pastas: succulent rack of lamb; delicious lasagna with meatballs and the seafood ragu; and the codfish were all spectacular.
If you will be near MOMA or fifth ave Saks, etc, this is the best restaurant in the area.
Great! Very fantastic food
Il Gattopardo was recommended by one of my Italian friends, and first time I've visited I was awed entirely. Since then I've been here many times, as the food and service is always exceptional, you'd actually remember how well they present everything and want to keep coming back. The location is right in the heart of midtown, but it is tucked away from the busy streets which makes it feel like a hidden gem. The ambiance is perfect for special occasions, date night, dinner with the parents or for a business dinner. Il Gattoprado is one of my favorite places to go and would highly recommend to anyone visiting near the area.
Excellent as always!
They have an extensive wine list, nice ambience, and very attentive wait staff.
Perhaps they had a new chef, but, for our taste, every entree was too salty, (two fish dishes and a veal dish). We had expected more interesting flavor, given the favorable reviews.
Fabulous. The food was amazing, and the servers were attentive. I have an allergy, and they took care of me. Where is the Michelin star? 😄
I was looking for an upscale Italian after Circo closed. The space is the original Aquavit completely redone into a modern, comfortable Mediterranean. The service was excellent, but the menu was eclectic Italian. I had the ravioli filled with pheasant and partridge. They were tasteless, small, and probably frozen. The dessert my wife ordered , however was excellent . It was a warm zagblione with berries and she knows her zagblione. We will give it another try.
What an incredible experience! We were last to dine at 11:30. They could have turned us away. Instead they invited us in. The waiter and staff treated us so well! The food was the best Italian food we have had, especially my linguine with white clam sauce!
Divine food! Wonderful service, amazing menu.
Handmade pasta, delicious bread.
The staff is always warm and welcoming, and the food is great. I usually eat there at lunch, as it's near my office, so I usually have an appetizer and a pasta. This time it was gnocchi which melted in the mouth! The waiters are helpful in selecting a good wine by the glass (remember, it's lunchtime!)
Food was alright but not great and not worth the price I paid - Everything was generally too salty. Service was slow. Noise level was also too loud to hold conversation without yelling across the table.
Fantastic dinner in almost every way, but nearly ruined by an amazingly rude group of 5 people, and I’m sure the restaurant knows who I mean. Near the end of the night, a fellow diner stood up and gave the “shush” sound/finger on lips to the obnoxiously loud woman at that table, who SHOUTED to her companions all night. Result? Applause from the other patrons! PLEASE ban that table from this wonderful restaurant! Otherwise, terrific service, delicious food...
This WAS my go to elegant restaurant until Saturday evening. What was once a neighborhood jewel is now a restaurant for the masses. I had a special guest ( a producer) in from LA and had requested a table in the front of the room (for a 630 reservation). We arrived a few minutes early and I saw there we 2 tables up front and asked if we could sit at one of them. NOPE. We were escorted to the bar and asked if we would wait " a few minutes". 25 minutes later we were escorted past the open tables and to the back of the room next to a family of people getting up and down from the table all night. When I asked about sitting at the front table, I was told it was being held for a special request. WTH was mine on the opentable rezzie?
On the way out ( 830ish) the front table was still open and when I mentioned my dismay to the
maitre'd , I was again told it was being held for a "special request". Again, WTH was my request? Sorry Il Gattopardo, I have recommended you to many friends, but those days are over. Arrivaderci NOT.
BTW, I am not a disgruntled customer, as I almost never take the time to write a review, and if I do, it is only a glowing one.
As usual, the food, service and ambiance was perfect. I enjoy eating with folks who haven’t experienced it, and share Ing it with then
Great service and food, phenomenal wine, great ambience. Pricey but highly recommended.
Professional and enjoyable in all aspects: food, presentation, service, setting. Frequently take friends and clients and family.
The food and service were extraordinary. The ribeye steak done Pittsburg rare was the best steak I have ever eaten, They served a delicious amuse- bouche of arancini and pizzette. We ordered negronis which were generous and perfect. The service is excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.
