Together with his brother, general manager Donato Cillo, the pair masterfully combine skill and passion to serve up traditional flavours that ooze authenticity. Indeed, Il Forno epitomises the Italian kitchen - literally. Donato's wife is a pastry chef; his brother a pizza chef; as is his son. The Cillos personally source the finest products from their Italian roots, from award-winning olive oil to the traditional flour that creates Il Forno's famous wood-fire pizzas.

The food was the star of the show for us! Exceptionally good for the price and we would certainly go back again. However, we may avoid busy Saturday nights! The restaurant was very very busy, noisy, hot (they have a very impressive pizza oven which takes centre stage!) and loud! The service was also slow. It was a Saturday night after Liverpool played at home so perhaps this is not the usual experience. Definitely a top choice for lovers of authentic Italian food, mid-week or when Liverpool is playing away!

I was there with a friend for our monthly Ladies Who Lunch. We had the lunchtime special, just the starter and main plus coffee. The choice was excellent and we both enjoyed every mouthful. The pudding choice was rather disappointing, so we skipped straight to coffee. The ambience was elegant and comfortable, the service was friendly and efficient and we enjoyed ourselves immensely.

Had to qué for 15 mins outside in the cold to get in. Even though we had booked it wasn't on their system.

Unfortunately booked Valentines Night. Totally overbooked, Queuing outside for half an hour. Given a table for two that wobbled. Set menu which was okay, but waited for two courses. Gave up before third course and went home. Good restaurant that I use regularly, but would not recommend Valentines Night.
