Just disappointed. I was excited to try this place since it was nearby, great ambiance and on the waterfront. I booked a table at this restaurant for my mother’s birthday and requested a table by the window and we were sat in the middle of the dining room. A little annoyed but I got past it. The server took a long time to get to our table, I wasn’t sure why but it looked busy so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. What made me upset (and eventually leave without getting food) was that the server was going to other tables in the middle of taking our orders or serving our table... It was as if we were not really thought of or acknowledged. Even when he approached our table, he was rushed and didn’t even introduce himself. Yikes. Not to mention when we tried to place an order, a good portion of the menu was unavailable... so I didn’t see the point of suffering through the service. I had high hopes for this place, and thankfully I'll never think to go to that place again.
The food was really good. They even allowed us to have our own birthday cake served.
It was my birthday, the experience was good. It was not great, due to waitress.
She could had been more pleasant. The waiters on the other hand were more attentive. Even the way she put the bill on the table was dry, no contact. She could had said thank you for coming, hope to see you next time...
My husband and I fell the same way. Nevertheless, that would stop me from recommending the restaurant and or going back, everyone else and the overall experience was good.
Always a pleasure coming here, friendly staff, great food and view of the water.
Our first time at Il Fornetto. It was a friend's birthday. Food was,fantastic...espoecially the chicken cardinale and truffled linguini. Fantastic tiramisu...huge piece! Wish we could have sat on the deck overlooking the, water but there was a party so were by the parking lot under a tent...it was a lot nicer than it sounds. The service, was excellent and felt very safe with their health precautions. And they have valet parking on weekends which is great in that neighborhood. Definitely going back!
Me and my wife have had dinner here on many occasions celebrating anniveraries and birthdays. The staff is always so accomodating and friendly . The wait staff is always so polite. The ambiance is always so calming and the water views add to the experience.
And of course the most important part is the food!. Its always delicious. We definitely
will be back!
I had a awesome evening. Excellent! There is not much more I can say but excellent excellent excellent
It was an okay experience. The server was good. Food was okay. I was not wowed
Excellent food, excellent service!!! Our server was Jose, and he was great! The calamari was delicious, and the salmon was even better!
I want to start by saying that I can imagine being in the restaurant business is extremely stressful during the pandemic. However, even with a reservation we were told outside seating with a water view would be a 45 minute wait. That was after waiting ten minutes. We were told we could sit on the side of the restaurant. The service was very slow, and it took another half hour to receive our drinks, after three requests. The food didn’t taste good. The bathroom had no paper towels, just a hand blower, which I thought was a no-no during the pandemic. The woman’s bathroom had toilet paper spilled all over one of the toilet seats. I’ve rarely eaten out in restaurant since the pandemic started, but this was by far the least comfortable in terms of rudeness, bad food and unsanitary bathrooms.
Was good place to visit
Great Oceanfront Patio , Large ceiling to floor open Windows for ventilation.
Our first NY dinning experience since Pandemic. Menu was very limited but I guess that was due to everything going on right now.
This was our first time at this restaurant. And it was a pleasant surprise. The food was very good, but the service was outstanding! Karissa was amazing, her suggestions were spot on and she made the evening very enjoyable. We will be back.
Beautiful beautiful venue. I took my dad for his bday and he was in love. Beautiful view of the water, service was top notch and the food...omg...it was sooooo good. The pasta cooked to perfection and the seafood nice and fresh. It was so relaxing and the tables are appropriately social distanced. It was very relaxing. Please support and i will definitely be back!
Great food. Beautiful view. Excellent service. Will be sad to see it go 😔
Great food, excellent service, beautiful environment!
Good place for water front dining. Nothing special. Very small parking lot. Difficult to find a spot in the street.
I accidentally left my “doggie box” on the table when we left, and the food had been amazing, so I am angry at myself.
The wait staff was so nice and accommodating and even brought out a piece of cake with lit candle for my sister-in-law’s birthday and then he led us in song.
She was thrilled and both sisters want to revisit.
Safety measures were in place, and the open windows with the wonderful natural view was so relaxing and lovely.
Thank you.
Exceptional even in exceptional times! The food and service staff was excellent. We had the full experience of great wine, appetizers, entrees and dessert. The view on the water is breathtaking and allowed my native New Yorker Family feel like we were away. This is one of our favorite neighborhood gems.
Lovely location on the waterfront. Food is pretty good but not stellar. Calamari was excellent. Mushroom pasta also delicious. Fish oreganatto was tasty but nothing to write home about. Salads were good. Service was so so. My daughter’s sangria accidentally slipped out of her hand and most of it spilled on the table before she drank any. The waitress was quick with extra napkins to clean up but did not offer to replace the drink. Would have been a nice gesture. Most restaurants would have offered a replacement or at least asked us if we wanted another. They did refill our water glasses often. Parking right in the restaurant lot out in front is valet only and $10, plus tip of course. Kind of ridiculous. Ambience is plain. Some candle lights on the table or white lights strung up would be a nice touch and background music would have helped soften the loud din of voices. There is a lot of potential for making the dining experience beautiful, but they kind of missed the boat. They do take mask wearing And social distancing seriously, which is great. Plenty of space between tables. We go to this restaurant about once a year, and that’s all. It’s a nice change of pace to eat on the waterfront, but not our top choice as far as restaurants go.
We were seated at our reservation time and promptly attended to. We were given a basket of bread but had to request butter and/or oil. We shared Baked Clams for an appetizer and they were good. She had Linguini with garlic, oil and clams which was delicious. I had salmon and pasta in a cream sauce that was okay. For desert I had the Tiramisu which was good but my coffee wasn't hot.
Overall we were pleased and will return again.
At first we were going to be seated in the middle of a family party in a crowded room which was open on both sides but had a covering… We requested a switch and ended up seated outside along Emmons Avenue… Too many mosquitoes. Portions were small especially my $34 seafood plate in which I literally got two bites of lobster and two clams and two shrimp. Our server was amazing she continue to check up on us and had appropriate conversation but then disappeared when it was time to come back for the signed bill. The place was not crowded so there’s no excuse.
The advertising of the place is misleading. We were initially seated on a terrace facing the parking lot. We were the only customers there.
Be ware that you need to add a special request in order to be seated in the outdoor space facing the water.
After waiting 40 minutes, the manager found us a decent table in the area facing the water.
You should be aware that in that neighborhood very few people wore masks, but all the restaurant personnel was wearing masks and gloves, and the tables were 6 feet apart.
This is my first visit to your restaurant. I made my reservation through here and expected to dine by the water view. But instead I had to be seated in the front where it was noisy from the traffic. Otherwise, food and service were good. It’s the ambience that I wasn’t too happy about.
Beautiful setting, social distancing is practiced and my family and I felt very safe. Service was excellent, however the food can improve a smidge. Calamari were a little rubbery but otherwise everyone enjoyed their meals. The views are amazing and make this a great spot for a special occasion!
Service great. Staff friendly. Food fabulous, view beautiful.
Been coming to Il Fornetto for years and they have yet to disappoint. Took our nephew and his fiance to dinner to celebrate their move to Boston. They both love the place, the food, the ambiance, overlooking the bay. We shared so many great dishes from mozzarella de carroza to little neck clams and caprino salad to bruschetta. Lovely entrees from pasta al salmon, St Peter's fish oreganata, linguine vongole and Penne fornetto over a bottle of Chianti. Everybody enjoyed their dinner and had a wonderful time celebrating the new adventure of our dear nephew and his fiancee.
Nice place
We enjoyed the ambiance, the service from the Valet Parking attendant to the food service Everyone was great! , food was delicious
Will be back it’s a great spot to eat too right by the water
My friends and I picked this place because of their setting (outdoor and by the water). The food is okay and raw seafood that we ordered was editable but not as freshly as we would like (probably due to slow business). We will come back again because the food is okay, the ambience is great, and the services are good.
Had a very pleasant experience celebrating my wife’s birthday; she was quite happy with everything. Thank you!
Fish loaded with way too much bread crumbs, potato was extremely dry and pasta was not great. Otherwise the service was good.
My experience was wonderful, ambiance was good and I enjoyed it would definitely recommend anyone to go to this restaurant. 10 stars across-the-board.
Nice view, very good service from front of house and other waiter. Poor service from female server.
Celebrating our cousin’s wedding. Overall a good experience, will try again.
Have been to Il Fornetto several times to meet our friends since it is a midway point for us from Suffolk and our friends from NJ.
This was the first time we enjoyed the open air waterfront room with all the windows removed that gave us front rower seats on this waterfront gem of a restaurant.
Our waiter Eric provided excellent professional service and we all had a great time. I had the Truffled Linguine which was EXCELLENT. Definitely would recommend if you like mushrooms. Everyone else had the Shrimp and Rigatoni and they all were happy with their selection. The Caesar salad with real anchovies was a great way to start. We will definitely be back. Bravo!
We were surprised at how great of an experience this was. We went on a Saturday for lunch. They took all of the necessary precautions to keep us safe, the view was awesome, we absolutely loved our server who was kind and warm but thorough and on it, and the seafood tower was fantastic. We will go again.
Excellent!!! Right on the water!!! Very cozy!!!!
Me and my cousin dined here all around excellent....had a beautiful time the servers were so nice food delicious beautiful ambience I have been there many times before I always leave happy...
Everything was perfect. The manager and waitstaff took extra care to make everything right and make sure the experience was great, especially during these trying time of Covid. We felt comfortable and everyone was distanced. . The food was delicious, as usual.
