We feel that Il Fornello could’ve put a little bit more effort into their decor and ambience in these restaurants. We were just at the Sherwood Village one which is new and it was quite nice. In addition the menu at the Sherwood Village was different and had what I feel to be nicer options. The location of this restaurant in St Catharines was not easy to get into. But mostly the worst part was the decor and ambience.

Everyone enjoyed their meal in a lovely setting. Wait staff were very pleasant and attentive.

The host showed us to a table promptly but didn't give us any menus. The server however was attentive and turned the music down when she noticed us looking towards the speakers. The food was okay. The small Caesar salad was not that small but the dressing was a little too acidic for our tastes. The pizza was good but we couldn't recommend this restaurant because it has the ambiance of eating in a warehouse. Not for us unfortunately.

The place was dead only 2 tables and our food took 40 mins a bit ridiculous and then one of the meals was cold. Anyways the food was yummy!

Item price was high based on the low quality of the food. The atmosphere was cafeteria-like. It was a disappointment compared to the IL Fornello in Oakville.

I booked this reservation for my wife's birthday. In the reservation, there is a space to enter info aboit a special occasion. I wrote birthday, but the server made no mention of it. For a place that is deemed to be italian, and for the cost of the meal ($27) I found it odd that there were no sides (salad) or bread to start. Though the food was OK (my shrimp scampi noodles and my daughter's penne were cooked al dente and the taste was fine, it left me wanting more. I shouldn't leave a restaurant feeling hungry. Also the kids meal at $15 was overpriced. I have been to places where the same meal is less than $10 or even free. The service was OK, but average in terms of attentiveness especially since the place was less than a quarter full. No top up of water. We won't return.
