Il Fornaio - Walnut Creek Ratings and Reviews
We wanted to go somewhere nice for our anniversary, but felt like we didn't want to pay extreme prices for over-the-top epicurean experiences. We were happy to find Il Fornaio. The decor is very nice, and the service was of the highest order. Having mentioned it was our anniversary, they gave a small flute of sparking wine (no so much as to stop me from ordering a glass of Chianti later!) The pear and endive salad was nice (and just large enough to share), and we each got pasta entrees to our liking. Service was friendly and attentive. We'll be happy to return.
I frequent this restaurant for it's easy accessability and ambiance. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
We had an alumni lunch for 14 and we felt free to move around by the fireside area and a pleasure to all be able to sit together at the long table set up for our group.
We ordered the price fixe regional menu with the half glass wine pairings.... and had a great meal ! Since we also each ordered different items, we got to try two appetizers, two second dishes and two main menu items. In all fairness, everything was delicious ! We ate at the bar that overlooks the kitchen area and really enjoyed watching the chefs prepare dinners !
When I order Eggs Benedict, I don’t usually expect the egg to be hard boiled... I looked around, and unfortunately it wasn’t just me. Two orders at my table as well as the table next to me had the same over cooked egg. Maybe it’s training? I don’t know. Boo. Will not return.
Reservations were for 5, and she wanted to put us at a table for 4, with one chair on the end, in the aisle, in the traffic path. Had to ask for another table.
Requested something special for birthday, and disappointed they don't do anything special for that. Service was not attentive.
Would not go back and will not recommend this restaurant .
Food was nice, not quite at the level that I expected for the price. Salads were fantastic! Bread served with the meal was also great. And the desserts were exceptional. There were several small and odd inconsistencies that surprised me for a higher end restaurant. My soup was served slopped all over the outside of the bowl; dinnerware was very old and shabby. We were there later in the evening, but I did notice upon leaving that the tile floor in the dining room was covered in spills from throughout the day (maybe they were permanent stains in the tile). It was a bit off-putting. Other tiny details gave the restaurant a somewhat shabby and worn out feel. Server was very friendly and attentive.
We went with 4 adults- us and my parents, and 7 and 12 year old girls. Food was delicious. Waiter service very good, they were also very nice to the kids. Drinks also very good. Only minor complaint is that it was very hard to talk without shouting yourself. Maybe some more soft furnishings.
This is our go to place in Walnut Creek when meeting friends for lunch....always very good food and excellent service in a beautiful comfortable setting whether inside or on the beautiful patio. This time we had one in our party that had a garlic allergy. No problem at all as her request was graciously accommodated.
I am a big pasta fan and loved the pasta bolognese! Others had delicious salads with shrimp. We topped it all off with a sinful warm chocolate cake with sea salted caramel ice cream!
Arrived at 1pm to eliminate crowds, seated right away, great bread, nice waitress Alessandra who happened to be Italian (nice bonus), she was responsive and friendly and could tell that she really loved her job. The food was awesome, ordered Conchigle Pollo which was delicious, great for garlic lovers that like big cloves in their food, also had the Tagliatelle which was a little more hearty with meat sauce it was fabulous, the portions were good enough for leftovers. The location is ideal with complementary parking and ambiance was excellent.
