Treviso-style tiramisù with ladyfingers soaked in rum & espresso, layered with mascarpone & topped with a dusting of cocoa powder
We had a great time. Our waiter Chris was super friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. The service was quick. Overall, great experience!
The food was outstanding and service, by Paula and by the bartender, was impeccable. We had trouble with uncorking a bottle of wine that we brought with us and received patient help. It was also nice that corkage fees are waived this month and housemade pastas were on sale.
Wonderful time! Great place to celebrate an occasion.
I have been to Il Fornio many times and specifically this location. I have always had good experiences which is why I chose it for a family gathering. Overall the experience was totally sub par to what I am used to. The service was extremely slow and inattentive despite our server only having a few tables. Drinks were not refilled and even after requesting things several times it seemed our server was in no hurry to get us things. The menu was unimaginative and uninspired (not to mention significantly reduced from prior visits) Even the plates were sloppy and sauce all over the edges and not wiped down before sending them out to the dining room.
I know everyone is struggling with staffing and is reducing services and staffing due to the pandemic. But it’s easy to use that as an excuse for poor service and poor unimaginative food.
At $130 I will choose something different next time I’m in Walnut Creek
Great pizza and wine…
It was an experience to remember! Our server, Augustine, made it perfect. Looking forward to our next visit.
Family in town loved it
We ordered the pasta pomodoro and it tasted like someone dumped a cup of salt in the sauce. We also ordered a salad with under-ripe peaches and pit fragments still in them. It was the worst meal we had of the many times we've eaten there. It was not busy so it's hard to believe this got out of the kitchen. We will try dining elsewhere until they get a new chef....
we still like the ambiance and would stop there for a quiet beer or glass of wine sometime.
We had 4 people in our party and we ate outside. The weather was beautiful and our waitress was wonderful. The drinks and food were delicious as well. We will be back!
Reserved a table using open table. Asked if there was a special occasion, specified it was a birthday. No acknowledgement of this at the restaurant.
Great food and the price is right! And they comp parking, which is nice now that the adjacent lot has started charging.
We had a special that included a margherita pizza and 2 drinks. Since there were 3 of us, one ordered minestrone zuppa. The 3rd person was concerned about some stomach problems which had been bothersome. Person 3 ended up eating pizza also. We ended our meal with tiramisu which we all shared. All was delicious!
Service throughout the evening until our departure could not have been better from getting seated to our leaving.
Friendly server but was unaware of promotional offer, never filled water glasses without asking and did not ask us about dessert. Food was good, fresh and veggies cooked perfectly.
It was disappointing that they now charge for bread. The waiter stated that they started about a month ago.
Service and food were great. Will be eating there again.
Great service. Outstanding house made pasta as always.
A wonderful place now that the pandemic is ending, we still sat outside but the restaurant is fully open. As always great food and service.
Everything was great- nice table, excellent service and delicious food!
We’ll be back
We loved out experience dining in last night. Our waitress was amazing & we always had full drinks! We will for sure be coming here again soon.
ll Fornaio is remarkably consistent in all their locations. Special salad was fresh & flavorful.
Pasta was excellent as was the salmon. Wait staff efficient and helpful, except for the receptionist. There were several people waiting to be seated while she was on a long phone call. She never acknowledged, the customers, didn’t apologize for the wait, and seemed annoyed we were waiting. Only blip.
The food was good as always. The service was slow because there were no workers. Not their fault. The service we did receive was hood and the food came out fast.
Great until we saw the 2% Covid surcharge… hmmm?
Great to be dining at Il Fornaio again! We sat outside for lunch on a pleasant week day. The food and service was great. Fresh, hot food. Friendly staff. Comfortable outdoor seating.
The food was awful. So disappointing. Pre-Covid we ate here several times over the years and the food was consistently good.
This visit we had to ask for bread 3 times, and once we did get it… it seemed like day (or two) old bread. Not like it use to be. My salmon was way over cooked, very dry and fishy. My salad… ‘Croutons’ were crostini… that’s ok but they were as hard as a rock. Again, probably old and/or not stored properly. The shaved cheese on my salad was dried out, as if it had been shaved the day before or not properly stored.
I over heard the table next to us complaining about their food and when our waiter approached us, she didn’t ask us how our food was, only would I like a box to go. Ummmm… no thank you!
Sadly, it reminded me of a place that was struggling to keep the doors open. I hope it was just a bad day for this Restuarant.
We had auxh
Great ambience and food! It would be much better if more menu selections.
We showed up an hour early; right before they opened. I asked if I could add one person and change our reservations to an earlier time. It was Father’s Day so I wasn’t holding my breath but the hostess was super helpful and accommodated my requested by changing my reservations 15 min earlier. That’s better than nothing! Turned out, they seated us right when they opened. 😄
Father’s Day lunch. The food was delicious and the service was great.
Used to be better.
Brussel sprout appetizer not worth ordering.
We were early for our 7pm reservation and seated right away. The table we were assigned was wobbly and we asked to sit at an adjacent table. Request granted. The waitress arrived for our drink order and she was not very knowledgeable about whiskey. We had ordered two of the same drinks and she brought back only one. She apologized and brought the second one. She did not rush us as we enjoyed a calamari appetizer before ordering the remainder of our meal. Calamari was lightly breaded and tender. We decided to split a Ceasar salad and the roasted chicken entree. Both were very good and flavorful. Ceasar salad would have been better with fresh anchovies. Chicken was served with roasted potatoes and some string beans and asparagus..perfect portion to share. We enjoyed some caramel Gelato for dessert 🍨. The manager came around and checked in, overall good food, pleasant atmosphere and nice experience.
Thanks Chris for the great service!! And the food was yummy too
Very nice lunch - food was delicious and Michelle was an attentive server. We will happily return
Wonderful to be back. Restaurant almost full. Service by a long term employee, good to see him. Food was good, enjoyable evening.
Fathers day dinner. Food was alright, ambiance was pleasing. Somewhat underwhelmed but it was a good experience.
Lovely as usual. Nice to be dining in again. Too bad there was a problem with the pizza oven and my friend had to order some thing different.
Always good, nice staff:)
I think that Il Fornaio has some settling back in to being open. They were a little slow on service, the food was okay but not up to their standards, and everyone on the staff seemed new and wondering what to do
Convenient location, very good food. Foursome for lunch; three of us ordered pasta special with ragu coniglio. Had to have that as not that common on menus in USA. Very good
This used to be a fabulous restaurant. Looks like the pandemic did a number on it. The food was pretty good. We only got a few words out of our server, there was no enthusiasm. But the hygiene in this place...OMG. First the bathrooms had that sewer smell which is understandable, but they did nothing to combat it. No air fresheners, cob web on the walls, vanity and lighting in disrepair, and filth on the walls and floors. Really with $2 and a can of Comet and a couple hours in there could be a huge improvement. Even after telling the manager about the bathroom, when I went in later they had only picked the trash up from the floor and this time they were out of paper towels. For the cost of the meals I expect a whole experience, walking into that bathroom made me feel like I went from luxury to camping.
Nice location, great feel to the restaurant. Delicious food. Chris E was an excellent waiter. Pleasant and friendly, made the experience very enjoyable for our first indoor dining event with friends.
