Good food, nice ambiance, and a great location! I have dined at the Carmel location and the salmon risotto was amazing!
Had an outdoor table on a lovely, warm evening in Walnut Creek. We were no rushed at all. We enjoyed our dinner.
Reasonably good Italian food. Nice atmosphere and service was friendly and polite but a bit slow to bring meal and desert. Quick with the check though! :)
The food is always delicious. This is a special place that has never let us down.
As always, the food was outstanding. My veal was tender and flavorful, the veggies perfectly crunchy; the sauteed spinach was simply excellent. My wife enjoyed her lobster spaghetti. For desert, she had the cannoli with a scoop of dark chocolate gelato...heavenly.
We sat on patio and have a lovey dining experience.
It had been years since I last went to Il Fornaio - and I am so glad that I returned. I was able to get a table for four at an ideal time. There was valet parking available. The menu was extensive - but not overwhelming. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and made great suggestions. The cucumber cocktail was exactly what I wanted - light and refreshing. We had a mixed appetizer board to start (which was delicious.) Followed by branzino from the regional menu and raviolis. We finished with the seasonal panna cota. Our group enjoyed everything. The atmosphere was lively and I would gladly come back.
We had a very good regional dinner a couple of months ago, and tried this dinner about Sardinia. We were disappointed. The lobster was smothered in tomato sauce and the appetizer had only little bits of octopus. Not a good value or a good menu.
Mediocre food at expensive prices. I won't be back
was seated near the kitchen - too busy !!! Good food, nice ambience
As always, it was great! Food was delicious. Ambience terrific. So close to authentic Italian...
Super job to all involved. Always super helpful and it is greatly appreciated ! *they help with special issue every time.
Loved the open atmosphere-service much better than prior
Loved the choices and accommodation for gluten free!
Kids and adults enjoyed meals. Calamari tasted great though a bit greasy. Almost everything about the food was excellent, except an unexpected texture in the ravioli with sausage and fennel...I thought the fennel flavor would come from fennel seeds mixed in the sausage, but there were chunks of the fennel vegetable in the ravioli...I didn’t enjoy the ravioli only because of the texture I dislike so much. Great atmosphere though. Servers were also great.
Accomadating beyond belief. Arrived nearly an hour and a half before our reservation.
We were expecting to wait in the bar.
No problem, we were seated immediately. Fantastic.
Terrible service during all phases of the meal.
We enjoyed a delicious brunch with outstanding service.
Lovely experience. IlFornio is always a go to place for couples or with families!
It was nice, but the wait person was always stopping by our table wanting to take our food away before we had finished!
We came on Saturday night and the "special occasion" was just being together as a family as our children were both home from college. Our daughter has Celiac Disease and this is her favorite place to go whenever we go out for dinner. The food is prepared perfectly for her and you have a Gluten Free menu which we so appreciate. She is so comfortable eating at Il Fornaio without worry. We were all together and enjoyed a nice meal. The service and food never disappoint!
Very nice, thank you!
Il Fornaio has always been our favorite restaurant for dinner and happy hour. Their food is always great.
This has been one of our favorite restaurant but tonight was very disappointing. We had to wait 15-20 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation. Then the service was extra long - 30min+ to get our main course, 20 min for desert, server not paying attention and was not available, we got the wrong desert plate, and the food was surprisingly so-so: too much garlic in one, seafood pasta was cold and desert was too dry.
I have been here over two dozen times - a half a dozen in the last year. The restaurant has decidedly gone downhill.
I've had to send under-cooked chicken back, got shoe leather veal, the portion sizes are getting smaller, and the price point is at the higher end. There are just too many other great options - especially for Italian - in the area - and you might do better even at home.
The restaurant is one of my favorites and I had always enjoyed the food there. The last dinner visit as a disappointment. Though I love pasta and the seafood there, this time I decided to order the pizza. I had the Cristina before and I enjoyed it. This time was a disappointment. The toppings looked like leftovers from another pizza-the prosciutto was stale, the cheese and arugula looked like they were just "left there". My friend had a pasta with Alfredo sauce. It was a very small portion and I didn't see anything else with the pasta-just the noodles and sauce and we paid how much for it? My husband had the spaghetti with meat balls and we finally found the "standard" food from the restaurant!
I gave it a good rating and will still recommend friends there as most of my experiences with the restaurant have been positive.
This is my happy place. The food is wonderful and I love the changing menus that spotlight different regions in Italy. The service is always excellent, and the best part is sitting at the counter and watching the chefs at work. No matter how busy they are, they always find time to share a bit with you.
This is an expensive, but worth it, restaurant dining experience. Suitable for a special occasion or an important business meeting.
Was wonderful as usual.
The quality of the food was low. The service and ambiance were great, but the actual food was not good.
food was great as usual. service was good. disappointed they no longer have chocolate mousse. all desserts are sorbet, gelato, very few others.
We always forget about this place. A good reliable staple in Walnut Creek that never fails to please. Great warm Italian ambiance on a rainy winter night. We are trying to be Paleo so asked for no starch and extra veggies with our fish and meat and the waiter said, SURE!!! We received LOTS of perfectly cooked veggies on the side. I hosted a baby shower here a year ago and everyone was so pleasantly surprised at the quality and quantity of the food. A neighborhood gem.
We enjoyed our dining experience. Both had the delicious seafood salad and dessert!
We are 0 for 2 with visits to the Walnut Creek Il Fornio. My wife's pasta was literally noodles with chicken and broccoli, no sauce, no flavor. My daughters pasta was seriously lacking in sauce. My Spaghetti was saucy and delicious.
Our waitress was pushy and unfriendly.
We have learned our lesson, we will not be returning here.
It was a lovely lunch. The food was excellent, as was the service.
We had reservations for dinner and they sat us promptly and Sven our waiter was great! Love the food!
Excellent food and service. Table location was poor and the table itself was too small for a comfortable dining experience.
Met a friend for brunch. The service was impeccable, the dappled sunlight on the patio was lovely and the smoked salmon omelet was one of the best I've ever had!
Very nice wait staff
Great food and good service. Went there with three friends. Two of us had the seared tuna salad which was excellent. One person ordered a salad and the fourth a sandwich. Everyone was happy with her choice.
Tasty bread with OO and Balsamic vinegar. We’ll go there again.
We had a great server who was friendly without being pushy, attentive without being intrusive and had knowledgeable recommendations. The service was expedient, however the price is a little high for a lunch, however it is downtown Walnut Creek, but the food was excellent. I would go again.
