Once again a delicious dinner, pre-theater show. The food selection, regular menu and special fresh sheet, is varied and offers something everyone will enjoy. Lots of wine by the glass or bottle, and I like the option for a 6 oz, 9 oz pour. Our service was exemplary. Love the window seats where the hustle of Seattle is just outside.
I had the butternut squash ravioli, and it was delicious. I would definitely order it again.
Il Fornaio is a decent place for essentially being inside a mall.
The food itself was fine, however nothing extraordinary. Service covered the basics, but again nothing really stands out.
If you are hungry and they have a table, it is a fine place to grab a bite. I would not reserve or make it any sort of destination meal. There are simply too many other places in Seattle that are much better.
I’ve been here a few times, usually for happy hour. This time server was a bit slow and they had run out of one of their main pasta dishes, poor form for an Italian restaurant. Salmon was very good. As mentioned server was a bit slow to the point that I was going to order coffee and dessert, she dropped off menu and I tried to order as she was going by table after a bit of a wait. She said she’d be right back. She disappeared for long enough for me to just pay my bill when she did return.
I was hungry for Italian food and I was not disappointed. The seasonings in my salad and ravioli dish were excellent. Also like the grating of "fresh Parmesan cheese" added to my entree. We had a few servers and they were all great! My friend and I split our meal; so the servers divided it in front of us on a separate serving tray. I actually felt like the servers treated us like royalty. The maitre de also came to our table to ask about our meal. Oh...and the dessert was "soooo delicious"!
Delicious fresh made pasta! Fun location downtown Seattle in Pacific Place.
Il Fornaio always has delicious food and great service.
Great meal before Hamilton! Staff was friendly and helpful.
Took my parents and sister to dinner before a show at the Paramount. Our server was cognizant of our time restraint, and ensured our meal and bill came out in a timely manner. Food was delicious, and service was excellent.
The service was poor; they were out of the first five things my husband tried to order; then when his food arrived, the potatoes were cold.
Great waiter. Loved my salmon ravioli but others in my party weren't as thrilled. Starting bread is to die for. Amazing, fresh, and pairs great with everything.
After a hard day at Emerald City Comic Con we were looking forward to nice meal. The person that brought us to our table didn’t offer any place to park my wife’s walker. Everyone around us had menus in nice holders while we got menus that were just sheets of paper.
Our server took over 5 minutes to bring us water and take drink orders. Then he completely skipped my beverage. So after finally he returned we requested my drink(a Diet Coke, really really tough to make) and waited again for him to pass us 3 times before my drink arrived.
Our food was served promptly the salmon was great, my daughters spaghetti was tasty, unfortunately my wife’s dinner special, ravioli with salmon and pesto cream sauce tasted funny and was hard to cut. She flipped the raviolis to find the burnt on the bottom. When we finally got someone to help her. She had to physically point and try to cut one in front of the manager. They cooked a fresh serving for, it was much better.
This night was so unlike our previous visits it was shocking.
Alas the damage was done and it will be along time, if ever before we return.
The service was slow, food poor and the gluten free pasta still caused an IBS reaction which I have never suffered before with a gluten free option. We had to wait 10 minutes before our waiter brought our second round of drinks. The last time we were in the states the tip % was 10-15 the waiter extremely upset about his 10% tip and even came back to the table and said he had expected a 15-20% tip. We were shocked specially as the bill was extremely high for the standard of food we received. We could had the same at Boston Pizza for the same price.
Price was a bit higher than I expected. The gluten free menu did not list prices. Also, it was not made clear to me that all options on the GF menu were not available. Waiter did recommend a nice wine that was not the most expensive option. Good place for special occasions but there are places that have better value around for "usual" days.
Service was just ok. Food was good. Atmosphere was impressive.
Arrived on time and immediately let our sever know we were in a hurry to make Hamilton and she assured us we did not need to worry and she could get us out in an hour. 47 minutes later after several check ins to see what the status of our food was, we walked out hungry so we wouldn’t miss our show. My kids had a packet of nuts and gummy bears for dinner at the theater because of the terrible service. Disorganized and inefficient. What was supposed to be a nice dinner out for a special evening was ruined. Will never go here again.
Very nice downtown dining with a sit back and relax feel. Service was attentive and there to meet your every need. Entrees were well priced with a good selection of wines.
I was not too impressed with this restaurant. This was the first time at this restaurant and I probably won't be back. The waiter came back and asked again what I ordered and then my daughter received the wrong dinner. I had some Brechetta which was very soggy, I also had a ceasar salad which was good. I would much rather go to Mama Sortini's for Italian food, there's is great! Sorry for the bad review but this is how I felt.
Love, love, love Il Fornaio! Look forward to next time.
Excellent food, service, wine, ambiance. What else is there?
Drinks were never refilled.
Good food to have with friends!
Food took forever to arrive. I ordered a seafood platter that was so over cooked it was almost burned. I cold only stomach a few bites. My daughter’s calamari came out cold and soggy. We had show tickets so I didn’t want to complain for fear of slowing us down even more. They sat us next to chefs cooking who yelled angrily during our entire meal. Expensive food that was not worth it.
The food was good, but the kitchen had already run out of two items (one special entree and one wine special) that we wanted to order, although it was only 6 pm. The menu was limited and had very few other non-meat options, after I was unable to order my desired entree. The restaurant was very crowded on a Saturday night, the tables were very close together, and the kitchen was backed up. It took 90 minutes to receive our entrees, and we nearly missed our show nearby, although we arrived early for our reservation 2 hours before showtime. This was very disappointing, so we may not come back.
Special evening with my daughter before Hamilton.
Food was delicious, as always! The shell pasta with butternut squash and crisped sage was light and filling. My daughter gave high marks to the salmon ravioli. Il Fornaio has become out go-to before theater spot.
Had to cancel entrees after waiting nearly 40 minutes after our salads.
Delicious food, great wine and wonderful services
My wife has celiac disease, and this is a very safe dinner spot so we don't have to worry about cross-contamination. The food is always excellent, top-notch service, and Thierry always is able to recommend the perfect wine to go with our meals
Great menu and delicious too. Service was outstanding. It was a lovely evening.
My husband and I go to Il Fornaio for Valentine's Day. This was our first year at the Seattle location. The service wasn't that great (slow at checking on us, candles on table weren't lit), the bread on the appetizer was over cooked, and we were seated in a different area than we had requested. I understand that it was crazy being a holiday, so we will be back but I was slightly disappointed.
Valentine’s dinner-my Caesar salad was a heavy on the creamy dressing; pasta Bolognese was good, a bit bland. The waitress did recommend a nice wine for us. There were a couple of times we couldn’t catch our waitress’ attention, which detracted from the enjoyment of our dinner.
Service was awkward and it was not what we thought for the Valentine’s Day occasion. I also ended up getting sick after eating there. It was very loud as we placed right by the service window so yelling the entire meal.
Went with a group from work. We had one Vegan and one Gluten free and everyone was pleased with the food It was a weekday and early so they were not busy. Service was great
Everything was great. No complaints. Bonus: Darius Rucker was on the bar TV's.
Waited 15 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation. Waited 1 hour for our food to arrive! Had to eat quickly in 15 minutes to make it to our show.
We had such a bad experience at Il Fornaio last night, despite the best efforts of a very nice hostess, manager & server who really tried to make our experience good.
To be fair, we were late for our reservation, but they told us "no problem" both on the phone and when we arrived. After 15 minutes of no table, I asked the hostess what was going on and she confessed they were struggling to find us one. She said, though, that they could seat us immediately in one of the booths behind the hostess desk, across the aisle from the kitchen, which is completely separate from the main dining area. She was so apologetic, and sweetly offered us a complimentary appetizer, so despite our having found a table for 4 at the Thai place upstairs (which we love), we let them seat us.
NEVER let them seat you in the tables by the kitchen! You're basically half in the lobby and half in the kitchen, so it's a constant stream of people by you and it's really loud. We listened to the cooks and servers yell at each other about what dishes were and weren't ready for which table the entire meal.
Our waitress was really nice and apologetic, and tried to provide good service, but we hardly ever saw her because our table was so far from the main dining room, where every other table in the restaurant was. It took over 20 minutes to get each of the 2 drinks I ordered, and it took us almost an hour from when we ordered to get our food.
And the food - it was disappointing. My 14 year old daughter really enjoyed her spaghetti with meat sauce, while my 16 year old said her angel hair pasta with marinara was just ok. My husband said his meatballs were mushy and fell apart and had little flavor, and he thought the calamari appetizer was awful (although he did eat half of it). My shell pasta with broccoli, sun dried tomato & chicken was ok, but it needed more garlic or spice - it was pretty bland.
So - we basically ate at Buca di Beppo but paid $200 for the experience. Pass.
Dinner after Hamilton. It was a good meal after a fantastic show!
The wait staff was very nice and attentive, ensuring we would make our curtain on time. The food was good. I had the salmon which was perfectly cooked for doneness, but very oily as it was basted in oil.
I replaced the potato side with a veggie side and was given three small carrots as a replacement. They were good, but maybe 4 or 5 would have been appropriate. My daughter had a very nice gourmet pizza which she very much enjoyed.
