Il Fornaio - Seattle Ratings and Reviews
Showed up at 5:25pm for a 5:30pm reservation because we had show tickets at 7pm. The host disappeared Bseemed to be available for a long time dWhen I asked to talk to manager at 5:50 asked several times what was taking so long but no explanation. When I asked to talk to manager at 5:50
Our reservation for dinner turned out to be meaningless; 45 minutes after we arrived we were still waiting in the bar. Several items on the fresh sheet we sold out by the time we got waited on. Food, when it finally arrived was bland and not hot. Under staffed, unprepared and underwhelming. Been there several times before but probably won't go there again.
This is our go to restaurant for our annual girls weekend in the city. We always start off with dinner at Il Fornaio. Can’t beat the food, holiday atmosphere, and their wonderful friendly service. Make sure you have a reservation😉 Already looking forward to next years dinner!
We have dined several times here and had nice experiences. This time wasn't. It was a busy Saturday night during the holiday season. We had a reservation. Two of us were initially seated at a table at the intersection of two walkways with tables immediately behind and across from us. When seated we could not pull out our chairs because they were up against chairs immediately behind. We did slide in and were hit in the arms and one of us in the head by the backside of waiters serving the tables across. We asked to be reseated and were. After being seated in the new location 12-15 minutes passed before our waiter made contact. We got water and waited another 10 minutes to order a drink. 40 minutes after our reservation our drinks arrived. One of our meals was good the other bland with the tenderloin overcooked. The waiter apologized for our wait and did comp us on a dessert. We couldn't tell if the restaurant was understaffed or unusually busy. In any event, it was disappointing as there are many other Seattle options in the same price range.
I’ve dined at Il Fornaio many times but this time it was a total disappointment.
We ordered the calamari which was nothing special with a very thin red sauce. Our Caesar salad had very little flavor, it was topped by large pieces of Parmesan cheese and hard boiled eggs. We were not offered fresh ground pepper for it. They brought our entrée right after we had received our salads so we had to have them hold it for us while we ate our second course. The seafood pasta I ordered which promised shrimp, clams, lobster, and scallops came with two small baby shrimp and half of a clam.
The restaurant was very busy so I am hoping that the meal we had was the exception rather than the norm.
The food was great but our service was very poor - we definitely were not important to our waiter or other servers walking by our table with water pitchers - we had to ask for refills for our empty glasses. It took quite awhile to take our orders - and then awhile more to get our orders. We kept seeing our waiter thinking here he comes finally , then he disappeared. I hope this was just an off day ( they were not full ) because I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.
I took my 17 year old grandson there for his birthday. He had pizza, of course, but said it was great. I had the butternut squash ravioli and it is fabulous. I would order it just for the sage leaves as they are excellent. They may look like garnish, so don't pass them up. Great coffee there, too, and I am particular.
We have dinned here multiple times, at least a dozen over the last 8 years. In fact we dinned here three weeks ago and had a great experience with wonderful food. However this past Friday (12 /8/17) was very disappointing. The food was extremely slow in getting to the table, our table was located right next to the wait station to the back room, one of the dinners steak (the special) was not warm when it arrived and very tough for a tenderloin. I guess it just goes to show you that any restaurant can have a bad night. I was wondering if we had made the reservation directly with the restaurant if the table would have been better?
We come here every year for a xmas shopping day lunch. This year the timing was all off. The restaurant was never completely full throughout lunch. The main course arrived while my wife was still working on her starter. Wines were late after the main arrived so we had to stop eating and wait. Then the cappuccinos arrived well before the dessert arrived. Normally good but this day they just didn't get it right.
Celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary was made extra special by the staff at
Il Fornaio. They went out of their way to make sure we were treated like royalty! I can't talk enough about how wonderful the entire evening was. From the moment I walked in the door until we left, the staff was terrific. The food was delish. Hubby had the ravioli while I had shell pasta w/chicken, sundried tomatoes (the dishes name was unpronounceable by me). They upgraded our bottle of wine and brought us a mouth-watering dessert all at no charge!
Thank you Il Fornaio!!!
Food was very good, service was very poor. Our server knew we had a theatre performance timeline, and didn’t get our food out in a timely manner. Everyone around us was his focus apparently, as they were all served right away. When I meantioned that we were worried about our food getting there in time for us to enjoy it, he blamed the kitchen staff. I’ve eaten here many times and have never experienced this. I was disappointed. 😔
A group of friends and I have a tradition to eat here prior to the Nordstrom event every year. This year, the service was exceptional and the food fabulous. We enjoyed it very much. Terrific for a special occasion or even when you simply want to treat yourself to a delicious meal.
Always a favorite, due to great, efficient service and food, this dining experience proved to be an exception. Food was ordered and took over 1.5 hours to be served. With theater tickets and limited time, we asked for periodic updates only to hear ‘just five minutes more’. When escalated to the manager, we received no apologies, just ‘five minutes more’. The food was not to the usual standards which added insult to injury. In the end, we received a discount which was appreciated. Another miss by the staff and management is not mentioning that a discount was being offered. A simple apology would have been welcomed. Hopefully this is not an indication of a new standard or trend with this location. Definitely put a damper on the evening.
Il Fornaio Seattle provides a decent selection of Italian menu items. One thing missing that I wanted and consider a Italian staple is Chicken Piccata. I opted for the salmon dinner, a good-sized portion but a bit overcooked on the outside. The dessert offerings are exceptional with a variety of choices that are sure to please everyone.
We’ve been sited right away the server came after 5-10 min. We place the order. The bread that should come right away as promised didn’t come. When finally I talked to manager they gave us bread almost after being sitting 25 min. Appetizer came like in 20 min and main course came in 1 hour. Food was ok service needs to be improved
I understand today is a thanksgiving but it wasn’t that busy and other people got their food faster then we came
Our family ate Thanksgiving dinner here and it was excellent. My husband and I are pretty picky about restaurants, and it exceeded our expectations. All of the people who served us that evening were friendly and on the ball. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
