Good food to have with friends!
The food was good, but the kitchen had already run out of two items (one special entree and one wine special) that we wanted to order, although it was only 6 pm. The menu was limited and had very few other non-meat options, after I was unable to order my desired entree. The restaurant was very crowded on a Saturday night, the tables were very close together, and the kitchen was backed up. It took 90 minutes to receive our entrees, and we nearly missed our show nearby, although we arrived early for our reservation 2 hours before showtime. This was very disappointing, so we may not come back.
Food was delicious, as always! The shell pasta with butternut squash and crisped sage was light and filling. My daughter gave high marks to the salmon ravioli. Il Fornaio has become out go-to before theater spot.
Had to cancel entrees after waiting nearly 40 minutes after our salads.
Delicious food, great wine and wonderful services
My wife has celiac disease, and this is a very safe dinner spot so we don't have to worry about cross-contamination. The food is always excellent, top-notch service, and Thierry always is able to recommend the perfect wine to go with our meals
Great menu and delicious too. Service was outstanding. It was a lovely evening.
Valentine’s dinner-my Caesar salad was a heavy on the creamy dressing; pasta Bolognese was good, a bit bland. The waitress did recommend a nice wine for us. There were a couple of times we couldn’t catch our waitress’ attention, which detracted from the enjoyment of our dinner.
Service was awkward and it was not what we thought for the Valentine’s Day occasion. I also ended up getting sick after eating there. It was very loud as we placed right by the service window so yelling the entire meal.
Waited 15 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation. Waited 1 hour for our food to arrive! Had to eat quickly in 15 minutes to make it to our show.
Everything was great. No complaints. Bonus: Darius Rucker was on the bar TV's.
We had such a bad experience at Il Fornaio last night, despite the best efforts of a very nice hostess, manager & server who really tried to make our experience good.
To be fair, we were late for our reservation, but they told us "no problem" both on the phone and when we arrived. After 15 minutes of no table, I asked the hostess what was going on and she confessed they were struggling to find us one. She said, though, that they could seat us immediately in one of the booths behind the hostess desk, across the aisle from the kitchen, which is completely separate from the main dining area. She was so apologetic, and sweetly offered us a complimentary appetizer, so despite our having found a table for 4 at the Thai place upstairs (which we love), we let them seat us.
NEVER let them seat you in the tables by the kitchen! You're basically half in the lobby and half in the kitchen, so it's a constant stream of people by you and it's really loud. We listened to the cooks and servers yell at each other about what dishes were and weren't ready for which table the entire meal.
Our waitress was really nice and apologetic, and tried to provide good service, but we hardly ever saw her because our table was so far from the main dining room, where every other table in the restaurant was. It took over 20 minutes to get each of the 2 drinks I ordered, and it took us almost an hour from when we ordered to get our food.
And the food - it was disappointing. My 14 year old daughter really enjoyed her spaghetti with meat sauce, while my 16 year old said her angel hair pasta with marinara was just ok. My husband said his meatballs were mushy and fell apart and had little flavor, and he thought the calamari appetizer was awful (although he did eat half of it). My shell pasta with broccoli, sun dried tomato & chicken was ok, but it needed more garlic or spice - it was pretty bland.
So - we basically ate at Buca di Beppo but paid $200 for the experience. Pass.
Dinner after Hamilton. It was a good meal after a fantastic show!
The wait staff was very nice and attentive, ensuring we would make our curtain on time. The food was good. I had the salmon which was perfectly cooked for doneness, but very oily as it was basted in oil.
I replaced the potato side with a veggie side and was given three small carrots as a replacement. They were good, but maybe 4 or 5 would have been appropriate. My daughter had a very nice gourmet pizza which she very much enjoyed.
We go here a lot and have always had a wonderful experience. Tonight was different. We sat at our table for 25 minutes before our waiter came. He quickly took out order and asking if we wanted a drink at the end. Knowing how long it took just to get to our table we declined a bottle
Of wine knowing it would probably never make it to our table. When our food arrived the portions for the pasta dishes were very small compared to what we have ordered in the past and they were all cold. My fish was cold as well. Our waiter never came back to check on our food until the very end of the meal. When i said something to the manager as we left he seemed to not really care.
Excellent evening. Pre-theater dining, plus birthday celebration. Service was great. Table overlooked the street with beautiful lights and evening activities outside. Service was excellent, food was prepared quickly and exactly as expected. Excellent!
Enjoyed the grilled seafood platter. Nice preparation. Food was good, service a little slow even though we had reservations and indicated we had tics for 5th Ave at 7:30; still made show though.
All 4 of our meals were disappointing......a bland smallish pizza for the price, fish antipasta was also bland and seemed like frz food. The other shellfish entree equally bland and overpriced.
Amazing food, service was great and the views of downtown from the dining room are awesome!
