treviso-style tiramisù with ladyfingers soaked in rum & espresso, layered with mascarpone & topped with a dusting of cocoa powder
The butternut squash ravioli is exceptional every time! Service is great no matter
how busy. We went on a Saturday night and it was hopping but we were served
timely and not disappointed.
Authentic Italian food in a cozy, comfortable setting. The staff is amazing with special attention to make your dining experience a pleasure!
Everything was very good. Food and service. Very professional.
Food was great. Service was a bit slow, especially when we first arrived. They were not busy, but it seemed to take a long time for our waitress to show. We didn’t get bread or drinks for a long time. Once the appetizer arrived, service was better after that.
My 9 year old daughter and I went before a show downtown. The historic building is well kept and has a nice ambiance. The service was good and our server was friendly. My daughter and I both decided to get the beef tenderloin. I ordered rare for my daughter and blue for me. The waitress said they tend to cook the meat on the rare side and suggested we order my daughters medium rare so we did. My meat was cooked with very little char on the outside and needed salt, but it was blue inside. The balsamic sauce was ok.
My daughters meat didn’t seem like tenderloin plus it was chewy and over cooked. The outside had a nice char but still lacked in salt. We did ask for another try for her meat this
time cooked rare. The chef himself came out and questioned our complaint and at first did not agree but was nice about it and they cooked another for her. The second one was blue just like mine ( leftovers shown in picture) Ok for me but my daughter likes hers rare. I didn’t bother asking again. Then by the time her meat came the second time my food had gone cold. So after 3 drinks and 2 meals taxes and tip we walked out paying $160 for a very mediocre meal and it didn’t ruin our night but made it less special.
The picture is my daughters second
Excellent food, service and ambiance located close to the Center for Performing Arts.
Grew up coming here with my mom so decided to bring her here, the service was terrible we were being completely ignored. Sat down and waited 20 minutes before anyone came up to the table, after the waiter went to two tables that were sat after us. Was impossible to ask for anything, the food was just alright. Not worth the price we paid.
Not wanting to be too tough because they were short-handed (who isn't in these Covid times), but please do not take more reservations than you can handle. Sat at the table for 30 minutes before greeted. Appetizer took another 30. Finally said bring the meal and the check so we could make the show.
Made a reservation for 6pm. Didn’t get seated until 6:15-6:20. Had a show to go to that started at 7:30. Took a while for the waiter to come to our table as he was very busy. He was pretty good once he came.
This restaurant is woefully short staffed, and does not seem to limit or moderate the guests seating very well. Service was really inattentive and slow. Drink order was never placed, food was cold. Manager goes table to table apologizing and comping food, but did not go to Il Fornaio for free food. My expectation was for a memorable dining experience. My memory will serve me best to never go there again.
dinner was excellent. Canoli not so much. Service was very slow, poor waitress had way too many tables to manage. But I guess with Covid, that's how it goes.
It was my first time dining at Fornaio. I like that it was located at the Westin with valet parking. We got there is little early and we’re able to relax and take pictures at the Westin even though they were willing to seat us early. The staff was amazing and very nice. The food was so delicious from the pasta to the pizza. Very good choices on the menu. I will definitely be dining here again.
High end food preparation - very enjoyable but a bit more expensive than required for a weekday dinner with kids in their 30’s
The portion of pasta is too small.
Desert is also smaller than expected.
Lobster bisque is bad taste, no lobster meat inside it,
very bad choice.
The tables are nicely laid out and spaced out. The staff was attentive. The food was nicely prepared and presented. We shared the Calamaretti Fritti and Focaccia Gorgonzola. The calamari was fresh with a crispy batter. The focaccia was soft and tasty. I had the special with spaghetti, mussels, shrimp, and half lobster. The seafood was nicely presented, fresh, and flavorful. Thank you for a very pleasant evening dinner.
Very good service. We ordered the Fradiavolo pizza and salad and it was great.
Extremely nice restaurant, nice and fast service, enjoyed my second visit here when I am in San Jose. Recommend to everyone.
Our server was fabulous! On a busy night. Thank you tp him for taking care of us. So friendly & pleasant.
Salad and soup were very salty. Entrees were mixed--the beef short ribs were excellent but the lasagna was average and lacked flavor.
Overall, the food was just average.
The food was good, but the service was really slow. Our waiter was nice, but had too many tables. He explained that 2 people had called in sick. It wasn’t his fault, but I felt that management should have stepped in. It happened to tables all around us.
This was second time visiting this restaurant. The food and service was great. I will definitely be returning. The food not negative thing I can saw about my last visit is that they were not offering their buffet for the holiday. I tired their buffet once before and it was amazing.
Overall food was very good. Brussels were a little hard and food could've been hotter. Still, very enjoyable.
Food and service were outstanding. Our server was attentive throughout. We had a great time and will definitely return.
Great place to eat in Downtown San Jose. Has a great city vibe.
I’ve dined there for lunch and dinner for many years and always enjoyed the place, valet parking and particularly the food. Last night the valet parking and service were still good, but my wife and I didn’t enjoy our meals.
The service was excellent. We eat out frequently and since the pandemic the service has been so bad at multiple restaurants. It was so nice to experience good service again. The food was quick and delicious.
Wonderful service and very delicious dinner. Very accommodating chef with a special request. Greatly appreciated!
Great place and food and ambiance. Website says they validate 2hours parking across the street at the convention center parking lot but they don't validate anymore. Need to change this. You can have the hotel staff do parking valet next time.
So much potential, the restaurant is beautiful. Service was not great, very slow, forgot bread, had to ask for everything. But that is probably the individual. The food was decent, but at these prices, expected better. Overall, we will give it another try.
Very limited menu for brunch. Food lacked flavor.
Great service and food close to the show we went to see. Over all very good experience. Dinner for 8 made easy. Thank you!! Will be back soon
Do not go for breakfast. They have no skills in the service dept. Food was ok, but extremely limited memu. I Normally love this chain when I travel but they really fell short here for breakfast.
Great service....incredible meal.....never disappoint.
We went there before we saw the Nutcracker performance at the performing arts Center. Had a beautifully decorate a tree service & was amazing food was terrific. We were in a hurry to get to the show and they made it happen in a timely fashion. We will definitely go again.
A great place for birthdays and for the holidays! Great forItalian food!
Food was excellent. Unfortunately, we had an inattentive server.
Overall very nice.
Great for business meeting.
Il Fornaio salad no longer on menu. Ravioli were very rich but not a lot of flavour. Bread pudding was very strange- a bit dry but the ice cream was excellent.
I had tagliatelle bolognese and my husband had seafood linguini. Both were very good. My mini strong soup was the best. Since we are staying at the Westin I will have it again tonight. I recommend but it would be nice if Covid was behind us.
