Had soup (Lentil - Farro) and salad (Fornaio version of Caesar). Soup had no taste, lettuce was not crisp. Wife had butternut squash ravioli which was "pasty/grainy". Were heart shaped so perhaps left-over from a Valentine special. Top and bottom pasta were not sealed at edges which led to messy eating and I only finished the soup. The ravioli was not worth finishing. Best item was the french bread. I can't remember having a meal so disappointing. Note: we've been very pleased with the Corte Madera Il Fornaio and expected similar quality. Certainly wasn't the case. I'm kicking myself for not complaining about the quality at the time. I just won't go back to this restaurant.
Outstanding service--our waiter was Richard--and exceptional food. The restaurant made it a terrific night out. Plus a spacious, clean restroom. IL FORNAIO is top-notch; very accommodating to the table I had reserved for and gladly held the table for me being 30 mins. late. Looking forward to going back. Soon.

I proposed to my longtime girlfriend, who is now my fiancée and was met with celebrating by not only the customers in attendance, but the staff as well. The head chef, took it upon themselves to also see our dining experience was perfect. I will definitely go here again and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys authentic Italian cuisine manifested in its purest form of perfection.
Service was horrible! The restaurant wasn’t full yet we were forgotten about for an hour; our waitress disappeared and was nowhere to be seen. She kept saying it wasn’t even her section but that wasn’t our problem. She was our waitress, regardless of section, so she should have been more attentive. We had to flag down busboys and other servers to find her.
My friend and I came here for Restaurant Week. Their menu was pretty good. I chose the bruschetta, capellini al pomodoro, chicken w/ spinach & potatoes plus tiramisu. All this for $40! Not a bad deal at all. The capellini is a simple angel hair pasta with chopped tomatoes and marinara sauce. The chicken was really good and I took the leftovers home and finished it that same night. Dessert was delicious as well. I cleaned off this plate. I would say the bruschetta was my least favorite. I would definitely come back. Staff were friendly and always around when we needed something.
We enjoyed everything we ordered, as part of SF Restaurant week, we tried their set menu, though I've eaten in other locations, this is my first time here. I would say so far, for what we ordered, this is a great Il Forniao. Caprese Salad, Bruschetta, Penoni ala Vodka, short rib and salmon were all good. No complaints. Tiramisu and Bread pudding ended our evening very well. Great ambiance and service as well.
We were a group of 11 people - restaurant is very spacious and interior is very welcoming. I loved the patio seating - far away from the street ( not very common for San Francisco restaurants). Customer service was fantastic. One thing I was not impressed too much but it could be because I am more of a Napa restaurants lover - food is mediocre. I think if it was cheaper it would not leave me with expectations of a fantastic plate and I would think food is good. I had the spinach ravioli with sausage and the plate was cold and barely warm in the middle of the dish. It had a nice hint of spice and the ravioli filling was flavorful. People seemed to enjoy the pasta with Bolognese sauce. The seafood pasta plate looked pretty but I was not impressed with the smell - it needed a little more spice to it.
Overall a happy experience. The waitstaff was professional and sincere, I cleaned the plates for all my courses. Best affogato, it was thoroughly enjoyed. They do it all better than anybody.

They have such yummy and healthy salad options here. Today I had the "tonno" salad - which has seared ahi tuna. The fish was cooked to perfection and I absolutely love the zesty dressing. The salad was fresh and tasty and paired perfectly with an iced tea.
I come here often with coworkers for lunch -- we all really love it! This time I tried their Cappellinni Pomodoro pasta. The angel hair pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce has a great zesty garlic flavor. The waiter covered my plate with fresh grated cheese. It was so good I might have to come back tomorrow for the same thing!
Very nice birthday celebration for my two teenage sons. The food was delicious. I had the special Trentino menu risotto, which was perfectly cooked and had tons of umami flavor. I tried my older son's spaghetti and meatballs, which had a delicious bright tomato sauce and perfectly textured meatballs. My younger son did not seem inclined to share his pennoni alla vodka and had cleaned his plate by the end of the meal. I'm always so happy after a visit here because the food and service are always excellent.
As I have been going to il Fornaio for many years w/friends for the FESTA REGIONALE monthly dinners, I am(we are) very disappointed in the decision to eliminate this program... we were not even able to use our many points this past week... our waiter tried to make it work w/o any help f/ the manager on duty and the manager failed to even stop by our table at any time... not impressed w/his behavior or lack of! Our group has decided to try other restaurants in the future, unfortunately... I'm sure you will

This is my favorite place for pizza! It is more fancy than most, but so so good! The crust is always cooked to perfection and the toppings are super fresh. My favorite pizza has arugula and truffle oil. Yum!
I am obsessed with their Pennoni all Vodka! The sauce is creamy and delicious and has little bits of bacon in it! The pasta is big tubes -- so good! They always cook it to perfection.
The complimentary warm bread is reason enough to stop by this place! It is so fresh and amazing, especially on a cold day! I love that they have a different soup of the day every time I come in as well. Best place for a hot meal!
Came here with a group of friends on a Friday evening. Imagine my surprise when I saw that they have fresh made pasta on the menu. I had been craving fresh made pasta for months now after finding out that the place I used to frequent stopped making their pasta in house. We were greeted by a cheerful waitress, I believe her name is Carlie. I asked her many questions about the menu before deciding upon one of the pastas that was made in house. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the bolognese sauce was perfectly seasoned. Throughout the meal, Carlie was always on top of getting our drinks filled and getting our table cleared after finishing our appetizers, entrees, and dessert. I had the panna cotta for dessert and it was spectacular. Not overly sweet (just perfect!) and you get nice chunks of fruit with every bite. The atmosphere of the restaurant makes it ideal for a date night or close friends getting together to catch up at a place where you don't have to shout over everyone else. I found my new restaurant, when I travel to San Francisco, for fresh made pasta.
We enjoyed a family lunch for seven people. The food was good - maybe not outstanding. This is a really tough city to stand out in, and I feel like they did a good job but there was not a single dish that anyone had that inspired. We chose the restaurant because it was good for our group in that parking was easy, access was easy and there are lots of choices on the menu. Our sever was very kind and attentive but not overly so. The restaurant was warm and inviting. My chicken was a little dry and the salad was overdressed. It wasn't terribly busy so I can't excuse those rookie mistakes, but it was fine for the occasion. My expectations weren't all that high, sad to say. I think that for a big group it did the trick. I wouldn't go there expecting a fabulous meal.
I love Il Fornaio for their pastas and salads. The ingredients are always fresh and tasty, and the service is top notch. My favorite pasta is the Cappellacci di Zucca - a butternut squash ravioli that is smothered in butter and crispy sage. I also really like the Pennoni alla Vodka, which has little bacon bits in the sauce! Yum!
They have a great selection of gluten free options, and were very accommodating when we arrived a bit early for our reservation. Highly recommend!
This is definitely one of my favorite spots to come for coffee. The friendly bartenders make the best cappuccinos and lattes! I especially love their morning staff - Maria is the sweetest barista you could ask for. They also have delicious pastries, fruit salads, yogurt parfaits and croissant sandwiches, which are great to-go breakfast options if you are in a rush.

Came for dinner on NYE - I understand this is a busy night but service was Horrible! Waiter tried to ignore us most of the evening, restaurant ran out of bread, treated us like we would never be back and, as it turns out, they are probably right.
We live in the Bay Area and have frequented Il Fornaio restaurants in Carmel and Walnut Creek and it was on my recommendation that our group (6) came here for dinner. Needless to say it was not a pleasant experience.
We also spoke with the manager who did not seem to care much about what we had to say.
To sum it up: not a good experience. Will not return and will not recommend to others.

Great service! Took my boyfriend here for a special NYE dinner but we were in a rush to the event after, but our waitress was beyond accommodating and so friendly. Food was good; not huge servings and just fancy Italian food.
