We've been here a number of times and the food, no matter what we order, is always outstanding. My wife had the carpaccio as her main dish and I had fusilli with chicken in pesto and cream. Wonderful. When we want a great dinner we always come here.

The restaurant and outside courtyard is beautiful. Kyle was an excellent waiter, personable and attentive. Our pizza was not prepared properly so we had to wait for another one. The second pizza was not correct either. We missed half the concert we were attending due to the long wait. We still had an enjoyable experience.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Sacramento. It never disappoints! The architect lends to the old world ambience and the seating environments are lovely. The homemade pasta is a must and now they have some vegan options as well. Wonderful for cozy friend get together or a special celebration.

It would have been nice to have been seated in the nicer area with the white table cloths but instead we were seated in the outer area near the windows. Online it shows pictures with the white table cloths so I assumed that is where we would be seated. We were not even asked what area we would prefer, and since it was our first time at this restaurant we didn't realize the "casual" seating area we were given until we noticed the two different seating areas until after we had ordered our meals. For the money we paid I was expecting better ambience. The food was good.

We were in the garden area and it was lovely. The young lady who waited on us was delightful and provided us with excellent service. We were celebrating our anniversary and we couldn’t have picked a better place to have this special dinner. We have dined here many times before but usually for a late lunch and it is always a culinary delight!

This is always a great go to place if you love Italian food. I’ve been here many times over the years and it has always been excellent. I’ve never had a bad experience. The service is always great and the ambience and the location are beautiful and amazing. We were seated in the outdoor/indoor patio which was spot on. Today I had the Ravioli Locana. It was very exquisite and delicious. I had a nice local beer (Panic IPA) from Sacramento’s very own Track 7 brewery to go along with it. Even the fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to dip it in was truly amazing. I didn’t have it today but the bruschetta is also absolutely mouthwatering. And then I had the Affogato Al Caffe for desert - vanilla gelato and whip cream with a shot of espresso slowly drizzled over the top. Mmmmm Mmm, SO fabulous 💯 What a perfect dinner tonight……Thanks 🤩

Great small group get together. Wait staff was attentive, and perfect dinner. Plates were great, ravioli pasta, seafood platter, and dessert. Lots of fun and safe social distance from other tables. We all had a great time.

I usually am very happy at Il Fornaio, but not unlike many establishments these days, I believe they were understaffed last night. It took a very long time to order and have all of our dishes delivered to the table. Our waiter was great, well-masked and very kind. However, the bus girl and boy who were delivering things and taking things from the table throughout our meal were unmasked; it seemed odd to mask one server and not the others. Our chicken dishes were somewhat tough and did not arrive at the table very warm. Lukewarm mashed potatoes are somewhat underwhelming. We did love our beet salad, and the carpaccio was delicious. We will return again as we have usually had a good experience. Last night might have been a difficult one for the staff which could be why things were a bit off-kilter.

Good food overall, although i was very disappointed with the special that we were told was a “sausage and shrimp” spaghetti. In fact, it was Shrimp and Salmon spaghetti. It just wasn’t good. The rest of our table enjoyed their meal. Service was good, friendly and pretty spot on throughout.

We enjoyed all dishes from appetizers to dessert. Pasta was very fresh, although would have liked more sauce on it. Salmon was cooked to perfection. We would definitely go back when in the area again.

There was a long wait for the food which we were not warned about. When it finally came it was very underwhelming. The pizza was recommended to us but had a disappointing flavor. The pastas we ordered were lacking in flavor as well. Overall, it was a nice ambiance but mediocre food.

Food is very good. Pastas are a bargain. Seating in "foyer type area--kind of a hallway between main room and patio is not that attractive and a big noisy. Seems like an odd place to seat guests unless restaurant is croweded.

Our first visit here but it won’t be our last. We ordered all the popular dishes we saw on Yelp and they did not disappoint. We were sad that they no longer served the black truffle shells but they more than made up for it with the other dishes. The only thing that was disappointing to me, though, was that we weren’t seated near the windows even though they had seating available. Next time I’ll definitely request to sit out there to take I. The full ambience. Definitely will return.

Nice dinner - homemade pasta is excellent. Fewer menu choices than pre-pandemic. Prices are also about $7-$10 per item than pre-pandemic. Restaurant seems a bit shot-handed on wait staff like everywhere else. Still good food, though!

If they email you about a special, call first to see if they are offering it. We did not. When we ordered the special for two we were told they did not know anything about an advertised special. When the wait staff asked a manager, which took some time, we were told this store is not offering this special. Our pasta dishes sat on the counter to long. One was room temperature on top and hot in the middle. The other had pasta stuck together in a ball with sauce on top. We have been to this restaurant many times in the past and have never experienced this type of service.

Their pastas are really delicious. The service was terrible, our server wouldn’t come to us and she was running around looking busy when there were only like three other tables. We waited 15 minutes for our check.
