Il Fornaio - Roseville Ratings and Reviews
Brought my wife here for Valentine’s Day dinner. The soup was OK very little flavor. Ask for the house Cab wine, turns out it was $16 per glass (it was good) not the $10 I was expecting. The Veal was very good! The dessert was so rich and good!
I will come back.
We had such a wonderful time on Tuesday. We celebrate valentine day as a family, a party of four, and Il Fornaio is the best. We used some points and paid cash for balance. Umbria lamb chops were the best, as were the manhattans. Laurie, our waitress, got everything right. Ambiance perfect as we were able to talk easily. Sorry to see tasting menu go and points alas will be no more. However still like little presents like the Umbria soup. I love Il Fornaio. We will be back.
The server Alex was outstanding, best we’ve had anywhere. Took an hour a and twenty minutes after ordering to get food and then was cooked wrong. Diffently the kitchens fault and not the servers or the managers. Other then kitchen issues would certainly return for same server.
Everyone Should have a favorite restaurant to celebrate those very special occasions. Birthdays, anniversary, graduation, and those very special days we all have in our busy lives. Il Fornaio is my place. The quiet seating locations, or a table by the warm fireplace. The ambience of the overall restaurant. High ceilings, beautiful furnishings. Great bar location away from where you are eating.
The tables with their white starched linen, glassware, silver properly placed. This is elegant at its best. The service puts it over the top. Impeccable. Fast, polite, courteous, knowledgeable.
And so respectful of how you wish your dining experience to progress during the evening. You never have to worry about being pressured to eat your meal and get out so they can use the table for another seating. Our dining experience usually takes about 2 hours at a very leisurely pace.
This is our go to restaurant for a night out that is always memorable.
Calamari oily and undercooked. Manager comped the dish, but it was so visually bad why didnt the server catch it before bringing it to our table. My wife’s dish was a medley of grilled seafood and was also very oily.
Service was good. Waiter and busboy kept the drinks full and were attentive. Unfortunately their professionalism is usurped by a poor kitchen.
Three people in our group ordered the seafood platter, it was awful. The scallops smelled which indicated they had been there a while, the calamari was rubbery and tasteless, the Ahi was also old and had a greenish tinge. The service was slow, not helpful and when three people complained about the platter, the waiter said he would let the kitchen know.
We have frequented Il Fornaio, at least 10 times a year for 10 years. Not only was all the above an issue, the prices increased substantially since last time. We are not going back, there are many better restaurants in the area.
We were completely surprised and happy with food choices, the service staff were helpful, friendly and quick to fill our water glass or get whatever we needed. I highly recommend the restaurant t anyone looking for a delicious meal and wonderful service staff.
This is one of our favorite family special occasion places to celebrate. We figured Tuesday night would be perfect, but so did many more people. The restaurant seemed understaffed and our server did her best. I had made the reservation with a birthday being celebrated, but it was not recognized and I had to mention it to the staff.
Overall, still a very wonderful dining experience, just not as stellar as previous visits this one time.
Just wanted to add that our server was polite, friendly and kept checking to make sure glasses were filled with water—but not overly checking.
The special ‘birthday dessert ’ was an added treat and was very delicious.
I had not been here for 5 years and hope it is not long before I go again.
The butternut squash entree was absolutely delicious!
We are very frequent customers., but this evening was not quite as we imagined. The kitchen were making a lot of noise - the server was nice but obviously new at it. No wine taste after corking, didn’t refill our glasses ( we did). After coffee served we err basically forgotten. A bit of a disappointing evening especially for celebrating NYE ! Food was delicious as always - but almost everyone working seemed pre - occupied. Perhaps anticipating the celebration for their evening - oh well. Most visits are very good.
We have dined at Il Fornaio many times and on New Years Eve on several occasions and have always had a great meal. A small group of us dined this year on New Years Eve and were greeted with a very uninspired server and not very friendly. The server did not even offer to pour our wine. When our meals finally arrived, most all of them were "very cold"! We don't usually complain, but even the plates were cold to the touch. The manager had to be summoned and he did comp our meals, which was very commendable, but instead of just apologizing, he made excuses and with an attitude! It is doubtful if we will return anytime soon and especially for a special occasion.
