Il Fornaio - Roseville Ratings and Reviews
On our short trip to Roseville, CA, we ate at Il Fornaio twice because it was so good. The first night we had a wonderful waiter who gave us suggestions on the food and options on portions. He was very attentive and the food was outstanding. The next night we took friends with us who were familiar with Il Fornaio in their home town of San Jose, CA. The four of us had a wonderful meal. None of us had any complaints at all. Excellent choice for dinner.
Food was pretty bland and overpriced for the quality. Thought it might just be what we ordered but then overhead the table next to us discussing the poor quality seafood dish they ordered. Too bad as the restaurant is elegant and pleasing to the eye. Service was good.
Overall it was great again, but when you request to be seated at a certain table that isn't occupied on a Monday night it should happen. It didn't, so we had to ask for it. Then fortunately we were almost done with dinner, but the host sat a couple right next to us when there were probably 40 other tables in the restaurant available and another fireplace they could have turned off it that is what the other folks requested. That was extremely frustrating since it was our anniversary.
My wife and I are frequent visitors at both the Roseville and Sacramento locations. The atmosphere is fantastic and the staff warm and friendly. The quality and taste of the cuisine is always consistent. I would highly recommend Il Fornaio for any occasion. They never fail to satisfy my taste buds.
Checked in on time, waited at the bar for 35 minutes. We were never called for a table. We decided to eat at the bar. We waited for 10 minutes for water, another 10 minutes for wine. Very slow and poor service. Our salad was good, but our meal was virtually tasteless. Very disappointed. We have had good experiences here before, but not this one.
I’ve been here a number of time before but this time was not good. The food was average at best, the service was terrible (over 1:30 wait for food). Other table who sat after us were served before us. Most likely my last time here. Drive to sacramento and go to biba instead.
Il Fornaio is our most popular Roseville Restaurant - we have enjoyed numerous meals over the years and have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh, tasty and the service first class.
It is our go-to restaurant for Anniversaries, birthdays and all special occasions.
I wish I could eat there every night!
My husband and I shared a INSALATA DEL FORNAIO which was fresh and a good start. I ordered the PETTO DI POLLO AL PEPERONCINO from the Gluten Free Menu. This was the second time I had ordred this item and it was just as yummy as the first time I consumed this specialty. My husband ordered the GRIGLIATA DI PESCE MISTO from the regular menu. This was his second time ordering this specialty as well. He too indicated it was just as good as he had the last visit. Service was warm and timely. Two thumbs up for consistency in flavors and service. We both thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. We will be back again.
The food is delicious and I'm thrilled that they offer gluten free options, but the service needs some work. Our server was inattentive, forgot to bring a gluten free menu when requested and forgot to serve one of our guests his glass of wine. He never came back to check on us to see how we were doing or to see whether we needed anything else (which we did). The busboy, on the other hand, was very attentive, refilling our water, getting us boxes for our leftovers, etc. I've been there a few other times when the service was great, so it seems hit or miss, depending on how busy it is or how short handed they are. Prices are on the high side so will only go there for special occasions. In spite of the hit or miss service, I would still recommend this restaurant based on the delicious food alone.
Ever since they appeared on the scene, I have loved Il Fornaio. Fine breads, activity everywhere, people waiting to be seated, others just waiting hoping to get a seat...vibrant feeling all around. Great food...and I love the Bread!, yes, I mentioned that earlier but enough cannot be said. I haven't been to the one in Palo Alto in a long time and that one is still my favorite, I just hope its just as elegant as I remember. As you enter the restaurant you are ALWAYS greeted nicely/sincerely/welcoming. All in all, if you can't think of a place to eat for the evening, you can always rely on the one in Roseville.
I have to say we were very disappointed. My husband and I both ordered the smaller portion of our respective meals. Mine was okay; not very much chicken and heavy on the pasta..my husband's was ridiculous. He had three tiny tiny meatballs and very little pasta...you could actually not even see it from across the table, whereas my bowl was pretty full. Everyone at the table was really shocked at his portion....very disappointing even though he expected the small portion...it was actually about 1/2 the size of our granddaughter's children's macaroni and cheese.
I had the pasta/chicken/broccoli combination. The "sauce" was pretty unremarkable and unidentifiable. Our adult childrens' meals were also pretty unremarkable and we all agreed the only good meal was our granddaughter's mac and cheese. We asked our server if she knew the kind of cheese that was used in it; she said she would check for us but she never actually did get back to us on it.
Overall it was a pretty lackluster meal and we most likely won't go back for a very long time. I'm sorry to have to report this, I very rarely report bad news but honestly, the meal was really pretty terrible.
I took my wife to Il Fornaio for our 26th wedding anniversary. It was a fabulous experience. The service was exceptional. Our waiter, Cody, was so friendly and helpful. And his assistant server kept our table clean and kept filling our glasses. FANTASTiC service!! The food was beyond wonderful - so tasty and with beautiful presentation. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion.
The restaurant is very nice and comfortable. The service was very good. No problems there. The men ordered the veal scallopine which they really enjoyed. My friend ordered the ravioli she shared with me Andy they were very tasty. I ordered a chicken pasta dish which had no flavor And no sauce. The chicken was scant and lacking any substantial flavor. Very disappointed. A green salad with lettuce and tomatoes was $11.95. They did provide tiramisu for my birthday which was great. Nice place. I ordered the wrong thing.
