Great dining , a little disappointed as I did indicate on my reservation with Open Table this is an anniversary celebration, so thought we would be served a complimentary dessert , but we were charged for our spumoni , which BTW was THE best I’ve had !
For some reason, all four of had lukewarm drinks—tea, nearly cold, coffee, tepid, and two lattes, also tepid. Food was not very warm either. The waiter was attentive at first, but then not around later when he was needed.
Love this restaurant although the service was extremely slow the night we dined. Our order was very simple so should not have taken a long time to come out from the kitchen.
My previous experience with the hostess and manager had been very bad. However this time was the opposite. The food was delicious and the service excellent. The server was very attentive to our needs. Very nice overall experience.
We waited 30 min even having our reservation. The staff was not communicating with us properly while we waited. Our pizzas were not properly baked.
On a very cold night, our party of four was seated at a table ridiculously close to the server door to the outside patio, thus enabling FREQUENT blasts of cold air to wash over us every 60 seconds or so. To be blunt, there is no justification for deploying this table in this location on winter nights. We should never have been offered this table in the first place. In discussing this situation with the restaurant manager, he first laughed at my wife's comments and concerns, which she rightfully found disdainful and unprofessional. As we persisted, he shifted to acknowledging that we might have a point but didn't know what he would do because they needed that seating on a busy night. And finally, when my wife suggested that they take that table out of service altogether on such cold nights, he laughed at her once again, dismissing this suggestion as unworkable. Frankly, any meal that requires you to blow on your hands to keep warm because of the restaurant's greedy decision to use a table in a super cold location is not a meal worth eating. Nor is it a restaurant worth visiting again.
We were a group of 8. Out waiter was most receptive to using more than 2 credit cards and took drink orders and then food orders. Food was very good but we waited a good 40 minutes for its arrival.
Great experience with wonderful friends. Food was delicious and our server was extraordinary!
The service, the food and the warm hospitality are so wonderful at this Il Fornaio restaurant. Everyone at the restaurant, including the GM Mr. Morassi and the server Rosa, is so wonderful and so dedicated to customer service and customer happiness. It is always a great dining experience. We are grateful to have this terrific neighborhood gem. Thank you!
I booked and arrived 10 minutes before my chosen time. However, we waited for more than 30 minutes until I decided to ask why the delay. “Just 5-10 minutes “, was the answer. No apologies. After 10 minutes we were able to be sat. My doubt is if it’s worth it to have a reservation in this restaurant???
We had made a reswr
The food was okay. Nothing spectacular. My risotto special was average. My son order filet mignon done medium. It came very well done . My wife ordered Fettuccine Bolognese which was average. Good atmosphere, but the food was not great.
Christmas Eve dinner was PERFECT! From the hostel to our waitress to every single bite.... just perfection! I am can hardly wait to return.
The restaurant ambiance is very good. The food is good, but not great.
The food was quite tasty but expensive for the portion size, especially a pasta dish within meat. Also this time the service was not very good, no water refills and slow overall.
However a few months earlier we had excellent service, so it likely depends on your server
Always a treat to visit this location. Great food, wonderful waitstaff. Been there many times, will return soon
Service was terrible, waitress was slow, didn’t attend to our table of 7, no personality. Put cheese on my pasta when I asked her not to. Restaurant is starting show it’s age. No ambiance.
Great time service and food were excellent!
We had a wonderful dinner. The food was delicious, the service impeccable, and nothing short of what a perfect dining experience should be. A big thanks to our wonderful waitress who made the experience the best it could be.
Service was only average.
The oil and vinegar got refilled upon request, yet sat next to a barren bread basket for the rest of the meal.
My drink took 15 minutes to arrive because the server had forgotten to retrieve it from the bar.
The food was served haphazardly- We had to direct the delivering server where to place the food.
Water wasn’t refilled initially and we waited a long time to get the check, which I had to hunt the server down to request.
This was my first experience at Il Fornaio Pasadena, and what a disappointment compared to the Del Mar location.
Il Fornaio is very elegant with delicious food, yet the service was sadly lacking.
Chose Il Fornaio Pasadena for a company year end lunch. Fantastic service, ambience, and delicious cuisine. Everyone in the party was pleased with their selection. I look forward to my next visit.
Thanks to the attentive staff for making our holiday lunch such a pleasant experience.
Great location in Old Town, but our pasta entrees were very disappointing. We had lunch here a year or so ago and thought it was very good, but this dinner was not. Good gelato, though!
We had Thanksgiving dinner with my family! Everything was pleasant from the food and the service. Might be our yearly tradition!
Always a pleasure to dine here. Good food, attentive service and a lovely setting.
Thanksgiving dinner, best I’ve EVER HAD!!
This was our first time. We decided on this restaurant for Thanksgiving. Food was great and we really enjoyed ourselves. Staff was super friendly.
Very nice atmosphere, pretty surroundings, attentive staff, professional operation. Thanksgiving dinner was good, attractively arranged. But their so-called pumpkin pie tasted of nothing at all.
The best of both worlds: delicious turkey dinner (generous portion of turkey) combined with an amazing Caprese salad. My server gets ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Very nice dining experience.
Service a little slow. And prices seem a bit high. I was so hoping for some decorations but I guess too early. Still love it. And appreciate the gluten free menu. And the difference sizes of wine by the glass
The service was exceptionally great. The food are delicious. I like their deserts menu. Tiramisu must try.
All was fine - except our waitress never smiled or seemed at all engaged- just blah.
We felt bad asking to order another drink, or a napkin.
Great food, attentive service, tasty wines. Hard to beat, even on a busy night at the 'rush hour' for diners.
Great neighborhood spot
Dined on the outside patio, so quieter than inside.
There was an issue with the card payment. Card appears to have been swiped at least three times, as indicated on my pending credit card snapshot.
Eating at Il Fornaio is one of my favorite things to do. Service was attentive and the food was excellent! Enjoy the focus on regional dining.
Excellent food and service! Very pleased.
Had a reservation at 8 specifically for the patio. Arrived asked us if we still wanted to sit on the patio we said yes and they said just a moment. 10 minutes later they seat us but at a table inside so I told the hostess that we required a table at the patio, she said sorry then we waited another 6 minutes and they finally seated us. We ordered, got bread and our app finished both and had 3 different busboys walk by and physically look down at the plates that we put on the edge of table and they didn’t grab them. Finally our server who was nice picked them up. We then waited an additional 35 minutes to get our main course while tables of 4 and 6 around us were getting there food way before us and we seated before them. The server was nice but the hostess and hosts mess up in the beginning was the start of a downhill experience leading to horrible service from busboys to waiting over 30 minutes for our food, probably won’t be coming back and I’ll advise my family and friends not to go here because it was overpriced for the quality of service that we received, the food was great but the service was absolutely terrible.
What a gem of a restaurant!
Great food, service and cocktails! Thank you!
