Great food….great bar….great service…amazing bartender!
Very slow service. Gnocchi was over cooked and bologna served had NO flavor. I usually don’t complain but this was a let down as we had a visitor that wanted Italian food. I’m sure it was that the restaurant was understaffed.
It was understandably busy (Fathers Day). Drinks took a long time to come, entrees 90 seconds later. My entree (seafood mixed grill) was room temperature. Unacceptable. Even hot it would have been unremarkable.
We went on Fathers Day. Service was somewhat slow. Had to ask for bread. Food was prepared very well; good but a bit overpriced.
Our server was very personable and attentive. He took care of us very nicely and hope to have him on my next visit. Unfortunately I forgot his name. I love the ambience at Il Fornaio, especially in Old Town Pasadena. The food is very good.
We ordered the Calamari Appetizer. It was rubbery and the outside was not crispy. The server said that it was rubbery because it was fresh, not frozen. Baloney, we have eaten Calimari all over Southern California and it has never been like this. They replaced it with another. The same. Indedible. We also ordered the Vegan Arugula Salad. No dressing. Asked the server. She said that they minimize the dressing so the calorie count looks better. Brought more dressing. I do not like overdressed salad, but this one was bone dry. I ordered the mixed seafood grille. The Calamari was inedible. I have been eating at Il Fornaio all over Southern California, and also Monterey, Las Vegas and Corte Madera. Has been one of my favorite restaurants. This one was truly awful. They have also greatly minimized the menu. Would NEVER go back
Food was better than I expected, given this was not my first restaurant choice for Father’s Day. We went because there was a good time slot for a reservation. Pleasantly surprised,
We always enjoy Il Fornaio and are delighted to be able to eat in after the long year-plus of the Pandemic.
This visit was very enjoyable (a clean, pretty venue; a choice of eating inside or outside; a lovely range of selections on both menus; delicious food; with just-right portions; reasonable prices). The only glitches were that 1) the scrambled eggs on the steak-and-eggs order were missing (we brought it to the attention of the server who corrected the problem within five minutes); 2) the bill brought to us at the end was not our own (it was cheaper, so someone else might otherwise have gotten our more expensive bill). We brought this to the attention of our server; so, again, the matter was quickly righted.
Staff in general were very accommodating (one passing buser, going to find out for us whether there was a brunch menu; another extra taking a photo of our little group before we left.
We think, perhaps, the few glitches might have resulted from the very recent reopening of many restaurants, the staffs of which likely have newer employees (replacing some more experienced who had to leave when things were shut down). So we will continue to enjoy dining at Il Fornaio--and you should, too!
Great food and excellent service. But it was a bit hot inside.
excellent patio seating and the servers are very attentive
Great place to take the kids for a proper meal whereat the kids do not have to act too properly. Good vibe. Nice staff. Solid tasty food.
I have eaten at the Coronado location A few times as well as the Pasadena location. The quality of food & fine dining is fantastic. We enjoy our outing every time. It never disappoints
Food was good, service was terrible. Servers stood around talking to each other and ignored us. After fifteen minutes, I went to the front reception area and asked if a server could take our order.
It took a long time before we saw our food. Finally, we just decided after dinner to skip dessert and have it elsewhere.
This used to be a good restaurant. They need a manager who knows how to run a restaurant as the pandemic starts slowing down.
Very good. Delicious!!!
Long time Pasadena restaurant that consistently delivers good food in a nice setting.
The quality has gone down. Service was so bad. Took forever to get our food. Workers don't seem to be enjoying their jobs there.
We returned a plate of overcooked (almost burned calamari) and they didn't even remove it from the bill (we noticed after leaving).
Good food, good service. Table available right away (had a reservation for weeks). Appreciated willingness to accept several forms of payment. Surprised at being charged for bread now, but not that big a deal this time.
The hist seemed annoyed with our presence even though the restaurant was empty. We walked out and went somewhere else.
One of my favorite "go to" restaurants to take family and friends. Service is impeccable and food is always delicious. The Lasagna is my favorite and do not pass on the Tiramisu.
Excellent food, from the appetizers to the main course to get dessert! Service good but not great. Ambience great. Have been there previously and will gladly go again.
Food was great. Service even better. As soon as you walk in, a smiling face greets you and another friendly face seats you. Very good experience, will return.
Incredibly bad service: 15 minutes in, a single appetizer came out before even the drinks or the bread service. Our waitress vanished. I had to approach the manager just to get our entree orders taken. The food itself was mediocre. All around a very bad dining experience. Go next door to Mi Piace.
Food was great but your 2% Covid 19 surcharge REALLY left a nasty taste in my mouth!!
Everything is great as usual I’ve been going or 30 years however the vegetables were overcooked for the first time in decades the green beans in the carrots were mushy
It is always a pleasure to dine on the patio. Food is reliably very good, service is unrushed but excellent
The evening was wonderful! The food was excellent and so was the service.
Really enjoyed Italy day there. Definitely hope they do it again in the future!
love the setting...Italian day and music...only concern dishes need to be cleaner!
Everything was excellent. The waiter was very attentive and have a very good personality. Enjoyed the outside dining area. Will definitely come back
Great place to celebrate a birthday. Good food and great service. Our server knew when to come to our table, never overbearing. We definitely plan on returning.
Great pizza and excellent service!
Order the salmon! It’s amazing.
We shared a gnocchi dish, linguini dish, pizza and house white wine. They were all delicious and the service was great. Highly recommend!
Always love Il Fornaio. My only complaint is the limited brunch menu due to COVID. It is practically June already and most high quality restaurants have their acts together on this front and coming back to business as usual. This location was no less busy than pre-pandemic brunch periods so how about a return to normal, Il Fornaio?
Felt like a fast food restaurant where main objective of wait staff was to get you in and out fast. We ordered an appetizer that we hoped to enjoy over drinks- but our entrees arrived just minutes after the first course. Both were delivered by someone else besides the waitress who took our order- lack of coordination in delivering food so that we could not enjoy a leisurely meal. To top it off, yet another wait staff began clearing our table before I was 1/2 way finished with dinner. I had to ask them to stop- again, seemed as if objective was to turn over tables quickly. Would have liked to stay and enjoyed a 2nd glass of wine- instead was delivered the check-left with indigestion.
Our waitress was faboulous! Wish she did not have to wear a mask anymore!
Food was very good, and atomosphere was good, but the service should have been better.
The food was amazing. But the service was lacking.
ITS really good, an amazing Time for a really nice dinner.
Food was delicious but a little cold. Had to send back the bread to be warmed, and the black truffle pasta came out lukewarm. Flavor was terrific though. Probably better to not go towards the end of the day.
