Food was amazing view was amazing but for the first time we had terrible service here. In the past we have always had amazing service! Will definitely be back just hope we get an different server.

The waiter took very little interest in taking our order. He could care less if we were happy. He checked on us once. Same service last time at this place. The customer is inconvenient!

The most disappointing. Had been there many times Obed the years and the place has been run down to a cafeteria. Awful service. I manners. Loud with kids running around.

What was once a beautiful restaurant is now a dump.

It was nice to get back inside and sitting down. This is always a favorite place for us. I had the lasagna and my wife had the gnocchi . The food is always good but not necessarily exceptional but the service and value stand out. Kind of nice not having the place full yet. It can be noisy on a Saturday but his place is always dependable and they have not jacked their prices up like so many places. Understandable when it happens but still annoying.

The food is excellent as is the service. A bonus is the view of the beautiful Pacific Ocean. I myself am Italian and for me to say " it is as good as mama used to cook" tells you something and, my mama was a great cook. Very seriously, every thing we ordered was very tasty and we definitely will put this on our have to go again list. Make a reservation now and you will be glad you did.

We were standing at the front for about 10 minutes, and a hostess never came. A waiter seated us, but then it took about 10 more minutes to be greeted by our actual waiter. The waiter we had was very nice, however. Pizza was amazing but bolonese was underwhelming. The entire restaurant was dark and we had to use a flashlight for the menu. Would only return if it was for pizza.

The worst, food & services under intolerable level of noise. All that glass on the patio makes the sound reverberate. Then they couldn't get the bill right. Yikes!

didnt get a daily specials menu with the regular menu. after we got our water never came back for our order. so we got up and left.

Great food, wine & view..what more could you ask for? The outer patio has a great view of the sunset! The fire feature along the counter keeps you toasty & adds to the ambiance! The margarita pizza was fantastic! Perfectly done crust with fresh tomato & the punch of fresh basil. The mixed seafood grill was delicious & is also a great shareable dish. Get the cannoli & their coffee, great way to top off a memorable meal! The service was excellent, can’t wait to go back again!

Our favorite dish was the carpaccio, absolutely fantastic. The service was impeccable. Juan was our server.

We have eaten at Il Fornaio many times over the years and have never been disappointed. It is one of the best overall Italian restaurants in San Diego. and the view is usually magnificent to complement the food.

We enjoyed only our 4th outing in the past year. Well spaced and all staff was properly masked. Note that one patio is "outside" in name only as it is pretty much fully enclosed. If that concerns you, be sure to note it when making the reservation.

Disappointed - had 5:30 reservation got there on time perfect seats and couldn't get a drink, finally flagged someone down for at least an appetizer, had to get up and find forks and napkins because even after asking twice nothing to eat with. Wanted to order dinner but the waiters kept serving other tables and never got to ours, finally went to the bar paid my bill and went to PACIFICA across the way spent $130 dinners drinks deserts and way better service. Great View at Ill Fornaio but better service at (a bad) McDonalds

The best serving staff in Del Mar. Fresh pasta made in house is amazing. Don't forget to have a mojito from Jesse. I often get some extra food to take home for later.

We had a fantastic server and service from her and everyone was on point. Food came hot and very tasty. Nice wine selection. I was pleasantly surprised !!

Normally my husband and I enjoy visits to Il Fornaio and were especially excited to have the opportunity to finally dine out again after covid-related closures; unfortunately our food was horrible. I requested gluten free pasta and what I got was completely raw; my husband finished his meal before my replacement meal arrived and it was a huge disappointment for me to have to watch him eat while I had nothing.

One of best Italian restaurants in the county. Food, service, VIEW, all outstanding. Will be back.

Lovely, warm and cozy tent-like setting - we were worried about it being too cold, but with the sides down and heaters, it was very comfortable for our 6:30pm reservation. Service is always top-notch at Il Fornaio, and the amazing fish and pasta dishes were delicious. Special shout out for the heart shaped chocolate dessert- so dense and rich, and beautifully presented. Truly made our valentines dinner a special event.

My friend and I both loved having lunch there. I had been there before but it has been a long time.

The ambience is pretty good (considering Covid restrictions) and the server was very nice and attentive. Unfortunately the food was lacking this time. The Caeser salad we split was tasteless - the dressing was very watered down and instead of the thin slices of Grano Padano cheese on top as promised on the menu, there was something totally different (like Havarti maybe?). Not good! Tasted nothing like a Caeser salad. We left most of it. We didn't say anything because we know that Covid makes things so much more challenging and didn't want to complain. I ordered the special pasta which came out lukewarm. Ugh. I couldn't let that one slide, so had them reheat it (which makes me cringe to have to microwave something because they let it sit out too long before serving it). The Gnocchi Norcino, on the other hand, was steaming hot and delicious. I wish Covid would go away so our restaurants can get back to the quality we are used to!

Resided in Italy for 3 years and we have a very hard time finding Italian food that is more authentic "correcto" than at Il Fornaio! - Provi (try it).

We enjoyed our evening out so much. From our server to our wonderful meal, everything was wonderful.

Nice location but it was as if they just used Covid as an excuse not not to provide value.The pasta had very little meat. This restaurant has done much better in the past to make their space attractive and to provide a good meal.
