Met some friends visiting from Montana and had a nice meal here. It was VERY loud and crowded, could do with a few less tables in each section to make the experience better. Food was very good as was the service.
I have been a customer almost from the day Il Fornaio opened.
The only quibble I have is that the restaurant is extremely noisy,
which unfortunately is the case with many restaurants.
This location is the original Il Fornaio. If it were privately owned
there might be fewer tables and not so noisy, but that's just
wishful thinking. In any case , the food is great.
Never disappoints....a favorite spot....great sekection....healthy, delicious.
Always nice to go to Il Fornaio. Asked for and sat near the fireplace on a cold rainy night. Our server was excellent. Very accommodating and friendly. It was a group of gals so can be more work. Food was good, drinks were good and enjoyed the evening.
We enjoy the passport special every month. A great way to get together with friends or family
And maybe win a trip to Italy.

We often eat lunch at that location of Il Fornio and are very happy with it. We were very disappointed in our dinner experience, particularly our waiter who seemed like he didn't want to serve us. The food at lunch seems to be better than what we had for dinner. We will return for lunch but it will be along time before we return there for dinner.
Tis always predictably very good and a lively place for a meal off the kitchen counter or for two or more people at tables inside or on the porch. Diners have enjoyed this restaurant now for many years and rarely if ever have I walked out without feeling well fed and pleasantly served.
The food is fresh with many choices. I also appreciate the portion sizes. The presentation also contributed to a lovely meal... the chocolate gelato is exceptional. We had a wonderland waiter who was knowledgeable & had a great sense of humor.
After quite a long time we returned here for an early dinner before the theater, and we were not disappointed! And a good think we had reservations, even for our early 530pm arrival, because they were packed when we got our entrees. Loved it.
Disappointed in the Petto Pollo; the bird was simply not well cooked; perhaps overcooked. The spinach and potatoes were great. The wine - Zinfandel - superb. The service; especially good.
Excellent location, parking, excellent staff. Very clean restaurant.
Suggest the olive oil not be poured from high, as the oil splattered.

Although they were packed and busy the service was beyond slow and terrible. An Italian hasn’t walked in the kitchen in 20 years.

Il Fornaio never disappoints. From the welcome at the door to the placement of the tables the restaurant is warm . The service is very efficient and the servers very pleasant and helpful.
The food is delicious and there are many choices.
Consistently good on all fronts. Even on Valentine's Day (our last visit). Meals did come out at a slower pace but nothing was compromised.
JFood was very good but service to begin with was very slow. Short on staff and our waiter had too many tables to cover.
Five of us stopped in for salads, some robust Italian red and to share a couple of pizze. Salad and wine did not disappoint. But the superb, erstwhile pizzaiolo, Davide, has moved on to greener pastures, and the pizza was mediocre — thick, doughy crust (like east coast or Chicago interlopers like it), and sparse toppings. Far from la vera pizza italiana. Too bad. We offer incantations for improvement in the weeks and months ahead.
By the way, it seems like W was President when this Il Fornaio last had an executive Chef. How can it improve without skill and leadership on the inside?
Food is always good. They jammed lots of extra tables in for that evening. Value was fair perhaps the prices were reflected by the high demand for Valentine's day.
Service & food delivery were prompt & efficient; waitress was anxious to please & gracious.
When I called to advise my uber was running 10 min late the hostess advised I didn’t have a reservation. Thank goodness I had a screen shot of my open table reservation. Was embarrassing for me as I was with my boss.
My friends enjoyed their carpaccio and angel hair pasta with fresh tomato sauce. My ravioli was tepid and kind of gluey.
Great service and great place for Sunday brunch. The French toast was wonderful!!

Great food and service
Il Fornaio is kind of a funky place. The decor is very nice, the people are mostly cool, and the food is very good. The pizza is excellent and so are many of the dishes. They have a happy hour Monday through Friday which is outstanding. If you want a good meal at a good price, do the happy hour.
We have been to Il Fornaio in Corte Madera several times with another couple who live in Marin County.
The food is always delicious and well prepared. The service is cordial and efficient, and we have never felt either rushed or ignored.
We will continue to dine there because it has always been a pleasant place for us.
Seafood salad: Mostly great, flavors, freshness, but the beans in the salad were undercooked, almost crunchy.
Two of the dinners needed to be returned twice and then replaced by fresh plates. Not the servers fault but ruined meal as dinner experienced wasn’t shared. Ironically I had lunch there same day and meal was over cooked and poor service including forgetting to bring espresso that got cold. Just not my day!
I'll Fornaio provides consistently fine food and service. It is pleasure to dine there.
I have dined at Il Fornaio for many years and the one thing you can depend on is the food, especially their bread and soups. This time when I found out bread soup was on the menu, I eagerly ordered it, because it is delicious. Unfortunately, they forgot to bring it. So when they served the entrees, I asked about the soup and it was delivered in a few minutes (thankfully very hot and as good as always). That glitch was the start of our waiter's forgetfulness. He didn't come around to ask how our meal was, if we wanted more water (no one ever filled our water glasses), and we had to flag him down to get the check. I have to say, though, this is par for the course with Il Fornaio - the service is almost always appalling. This was for lunch during the week - you can imagine what kind of non-service is provided during a weekend dinner.
