Amazing location that satisfies everything I ever wanted to provide in a romantic date!
Il Fornaio is one of our favorites! We love the waterfront location in Coronado and the Del Mar location! Food is always wonderful and our kids have always loved it since they were little! The service is superb and the servers are always friendly and polite.
We went for my husbands 60th birthday. It was the perfect place. We had a view of the water, the sunset was beautiful. The service was amazing. The food, outstanding.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Coronado. The service is always attentive and focused.
The kitchen is aways very accommodating with any special requests or dietary needs. They have months long regional Italian food specials that are wonderful along with everything on
their regular menu. Very good!
Excelente ubicación y preciosa vista.
Comida deliciosa y buen servicio.
Great overall. Only feedback is that the female hosts at the il fornaio Coronado location need to be more friendly towards customers.
Great location and beautiful view of the city. Service was excellent. Noise level moderate. Food very good. Not a traditional Italian restaurant; a blend between northern and southern Italian cuisine. Moderately priced considering location and view. We would go back.
Spur of the moment dinner with my honey and good friend.
Il Fornaio never disappoints. Dining on the patio overlooking the bay and downtown San Diego is the quintessential feel good experience. Excellent service and food is a bonus. One of my favorite San Diego dining experiences. Love to bring out of town guests here.
Great experience—good service, food and outstanding view. I’d highly recommend.
We love this place. Brought our niece in for her birthday. The food and service were superb as usual. Our server was attentive and I loved her quirky sense of humor.
We have been eating at Il Fornaio for many years. It is our date night spot overlooking the beautiful San Diego sky line and bay from Coronado. It is a great place to enjoy cocktails, appetizers or desert on the patio with friends for birthday celebrations, or inside for a romantic dinner. They have a private room that I have been to for baby showers, that is fabulous for group lunches, etc. The staff are wonderful but not always in your face. On romantic date nights I appreciate their noticing our desire for privacy and quiet conversation. Remember to ask how the pasta sauce is made because the menu changes frequently. Entree descriptions list ingredients but do not describe if there is fresh tomatoes or if the recipe uses a tomato sauce base. Just be sure to ask if it matters to you. The wait staff are very knowledgeable. The bread pudding desert is one of my favorites with a great selection of specialty coffees and after dinner drinks.
How can you go wrong for a Sunday brunch with a spectacular view facing the San Diego Harbor! Excellent meal.. great service.. outstanding Bloody Mary's.. Keep up the great work Il Fornaio!
Great Food, all the dishes we taste were delicious. And for our anniversary we received a surprise cake slide. The service was very good also.
From the morning meet we arrived our night was made special by our greeting, the great view of downtown San Diego and the warmth of our enthusiastic server. A fantastic meal and night.
Great dining experience! Superior service and amazing food. Waterfront location with extraordinary views. Service was excellent and staff was welcoming and friendly.
Il Fornaio is tastefully decorated with soft lighting, gorgeous water views and the open kitchen which is entertaining to watch while waiting for your meal. Our service was adequate but, not outstanding. After an initial cocktail was delivered we only saw our waiter when we flagged him down to request the bill. We would have ordered wine & desserts given the chance. Other ppl. delivered our food & refilled water glasses periodically. Our antipasto appetizer was tasty, but, entrees were just okay - spinach and sausage ravioli had a grainy texture, spaghetti and meatballs were mushy.
Great as always but a little noisy as expected in a big restaurant
We dined there for Easter dinner. Sat out on the back patio and had a wonderful view. Waiter was less than enthusiastic. Definitely got the feel he’d rather not be working that night. Food was mediocre. Pasta was over cooked. Thankfully the ambiance and view balanced out the poor service and borderline food.
Food was delicious and the view was phenomenal. The waiter was a little pretentious though lol
Never lets me down, great food great view. Our waiter was very polite and friendly, bilingual which is always great.
Excellent view, excellent food, excellent service. AS USUAL! Our favorite place to celebrate holidays and birthdays.
Easter, great menu beautiful restaurant
Excellent food
Noisy party behind us but everything else was excellent.
Excelente servicio, solicite mesa en la terraza y nos asignaron ahí.
El servicio muy cordial, la comida excelente, como la sugerencia del dia; Penne con camarones y una buena compa de vino tinto.
Asked twice for olive oil and vinegar, never brought. Asked for high chair in reservation but had to ask again. Only filled our water glasses the first time
The setting is fantastic! Service was great. Food delicious!
We had reservations through Open Table, but weren't seated until 30 minutes after our reservation. The waitress was very friendly and provided great service. Salmon, Pasta, and Chicken dishes were average at best. The waitress offered a glass of Chardonnay with the Salmon - the cost was $20! Overall the value for the amount paid was not worth it.
Was very convenient and easy for online reservation. Great, classy place to dine with friends and special occasions if money is not a problem with you as they are really pricey even with appetizers is like paying a high price when dining in other restaurants.
The view and service was great!
I loved the beet salad it was actually amazing but nothing else “wowed “me. I just wanted to try it to since I’m a native San Diegan and love to walk in Coronado.
The service was ok and ambiance ok. The employees looked like they were hustling. The manager even went to each table to make sure things were good.
Took awhile to get the sugar for the coffee and I wasn’t asked if I wanted another glass of wine (which I did) before my glass was taken away, so I had the rest of my water (which was always full) :)!
Amazing and spectacular! Love this wonderful place
Great food with spectacular views. Restaurant has a great feel to it, helpful staff and the bread they served when you first arrived was delicious!!
It took way too long to get sparkling water to our table we literally had to wait 10 to 15 minutes to get water. I specifically made a reservation for lunch at 1 and ask for a table outside I didn't get it and there was no explanation as to why.
Giuseppe was a humorous efficient and engaging waiter.Had a great time celebrating with friends. Will return real soon.👌🤗🙏
Very good meal we enjoyed our visit and will go back next time in Coronado
I was given the window seat that I requested through OpenTable, so the dinner event started well.
As the same as my last visit, the food was stellar, the service was exceptional, and the ambiance was warm and inviting.
Remains my favorite restaurant in SD.
Great experience from start to end. Table was ready the moment we walked in. We had made the reservation. Host was extremely friendly and staff was very efficient and friendly. Food tasted really good. Good beers on tap too along with elaborate wine list. Slightly on the expensive side, but really an experience.
Food was fair. There was no flexibility in substituting vegetables for pasta with the scallopini entree.
Server brought wrong dish to our table and tried to insist we ordered it. Once again you pay for the view and everything else is subordinate to that.
