Lovely bay view, good food, and wonderfully friendly and attentive staff. Make you feel like family from the moment you arrive. The key thing about this place is the location - what a view!
The food is always wonderful! Service is always on point! I love this place.
Good food and service - exceptional view of downtown San Diego
Llegamos y nos dijeron que la cocina cerraba en 10 minutos. Nos hicieron pedir toda la comida junta.
Nos trajeron la entrada al mismo tiempo que el plato principal
El mozo una atención pésima ! De mal humos por el horario
No tenían pan
No se para que aceptan una reserva a ala 21:30 si llegas y no te quieren atender.
Food, drinks and service were excellent! A nice atmosphere that wasn’t too loud or too quiet. Would come back again!
I have always loved IlFornaio restaurants and we used to have one in Portland where I live. It closed years ago and I miss it so. I was so excited to see there was one on Coronado. My husband and I took the ferry over and it felt like coming home to be in the ambience of the restaurant. What made it outstanding was Antonella, our waitress. She was pleasant, friendly, chatted with us and was super responsive and helpful. We really enjoyed her and felt right at home with her. The food was also delicious. As always.
Great Birthday dinner. Excellent service and excellent food!!
Great restaurant week menu and price for lunch!
My wife and I attended this restaurant in the past a couple days during regular dinner time.
However, we decided to visit this time during "Restaurant Week". We have visited other restaurants during Restaurant Week; however, this year we decided to visit II Fornaio - Coronado and so glad that we did.
The portions were normal size and for the cost - $20 per person - WHAT AN EXCEPTIONAL DEAL !!!
I hope that you offer this again. We tried each other's food and was impressed with everything...
Thank you for this offer, we'll be back again
Incredible food and view. Make sure to make a reservation!
Food taste super good, it would be good if you could make bigger portions
Enjoyable surroundings overlooking city of San Diego. Service was good. Food was good
Great food great atmosphere. I’d recommended this place
Always a Great dining experience. Can count on great food, service, and of course the view is outstanding.
Had RSVP and arrived early. 5 minute wait and got seated. Manager was interactive with guests. Made sure they were not waiting too long or asked them if they want seats if standing. After ordering food came out at a comfortable pace. Didn’t feel we had to rush. Nice leisure dinner. Staff very attentive. Noticed manager was helping as needed. A good sign of a good manager. Would definitely go back again.
Although it was Restaurant Week, it wasn’t crazy busy but we had to wait 1 hour for our order. We asked for tea after our meal and was quickly given our tea selection yet the hot water didn’t come. We had to ask another waiter for the hot water.
We love Il Fornaio, we go frequently, and we also receive their email promotions. What we've noticed though is that it seems that the staff is not fully briefed on the nature of the email promotions, so we have the embarrassing task of explaining things that were offered for free or half price while we're trying to have a nice meal.
We go to this restaurant from time to time, and it is spectacular! The views of downtown San Diego are unbelievable, and at night it is incredible to see the lights of the city.
The food is always good and the service is exceptional. Need I say more?
Was really looking forward to some good pasta. Location and views are pretty phenomenal but my pasta was a bit thick, gummy, and starchy...clearly not cooked properly. Staff seemed to visit each table but never made it to my table. Wasn’t too concerned with that, my server was kind enough and provided decent service. Overall I believe the location is overrated, you can get far better pasta in little Italy in SD. I don’t recommend and won’t be back.
Wonderful. Couldn't ask for anything more. Restaurant week menu was awesome. 3 gourses for $20. Sat on patio which was lovely. Our server was excellent. Brave young man from Italy, just arrived a couple months ago.
Excellent customer service, great view and delicious food. Went during restaurant week and it was nice to be able to try a little bit of everything. My husband and I will definitely be back.
Great Food, Great Service, Great Location, Outdoor dining overlooking San Diego Bay
Food was fabulous as usual. Great menu for Restaurant Week. Service was unusually slow and we didn't get much attention - as in water re-fills, to check on us, waiting for the check a long time.
Always great experience. Food, service, ambiance and views.
Our party of 8 had an absolutely wonderful time! Our server was outstanding - I wish I could remember his name. The food was great and fairly priced, they had a lovely wine list, and the view just can’t be beat. I am from out of town but would welcome the opportunity to dine here again someday. Well done, Il Fornaio!!!
Staff and management were very cordial. It was a birthday celebration and they could not have been more attentive. Veal was somewhat tough, but was prepared deliciously. Lasagna was just okay.
Ein sehr schönes Restaurant direkt am Wasser gelegen. Mit direktem Blick auf die Skyline von San Diego. Essen sehr gut.
Food was delicious and service was good.
The butternut squash ravioli is GONE!!! As is the dessert trolley. I'm not vegan, nor vegetarian, but the butternut squash ravioli dish was one of my favorites, and Il Fornaio was where you came to get it. It has been replaced with a lasagna bolognese, which was very good, but not what I came for.
I still really like Il Fornaio, and will come back for the good service, the views of course, and good food. But my favorite dish in San Diego is now somewhere else, and I'll have to go find it. Which isn't a bad thing :)
I'll be checking the menu occasionally in case they decide to bring it back.
Excellent food, excellent service. Special thanks to Sahil our server and Eduardo the chef. They were very gracious regarding a food allergy. They truly went above and beyond. Beef tenderloin was excellent. View from patio is amazing. Inside is also very nice, but a bit noisy. We will be back. This place really impressed us and our guests
Service and food was great. The area where we were seated smelled a bit (like a grease tap smell) but after awhile of seating in that area you get used to it. It wasn’t busy and there were other tables in front they could’ve seated us but they opted to give us a table towards the back of the restaurant.
Our meal was wonderful, service great and loved the beautiful outdoor seating. So glad we took the ferry over and spent time here! Will definitely return!
The pizza was not good. We asked for it extra crispy but it was limp and taste great. The spaghetti carbonara had no taste. Won’t be going back.
The location, the view and the service are great. Food is inconsistent to be honest.
I go there pretty often and it's a 50/50 with the food. I like the view and the prices are OK for the location you are at.
Beautiful view. Fine food and wine.
Great service. Noise level too high in large table dining area.
Food was fantastic; however, our main waiter rushed us and wasn’t very attentive initially. Service could have been better.
The wait staff is poorly organized for table assignments- Waitress was mot attentive. We had to wait a long time for someone to wait on us . We had reservations but we had wait beyond our reservation time-
The view was spectacular. The table was was nicely set. The hostess was pleasant. The wine flight special was divine and the half price glass of wine was a great deal!
The server was rude to my guests and made snarky remarks to everything they said or asked about from menu options to casual comments. He rushed us to order and he clearly had no patience or appreciation for 2 couples wanting to relax and catch up over their cocktails.
The food was the biggest letdown. We even ordered from the chef special menu thinking we couldn't go wrong there but we were disappointed. The food was bland. The ravioli looked as though half the stuffing had been taken out. The gnocchi looked like a bowl of chili (how is that even possible?!). The fresh cod and vegetables looked beautiful when it arrived it was so surprising to find that he had absolutely no taste.
The meals were so disappointing that it kind of ruined our evening. The check was ridiculously expensive for what we experienced.
My tip is to save your money. If you want Italian food and a beautiful on Coronado, go buy a pizza by the slice, a can of wine, and sit on the seawall. It will be a much better experience.
