The restaurant was overpriced and down at heel. We were placed in the side annex, which was particularly bright, with zero atmosphere.

The food was overpriced and very average; we won’t be going back the next time we are back in Carmel

Work trip to SF extended for golf, had a reservation for 1 on a Sat night. Seated promptly and meal was paced perfectly. Had the House Salad and Margherita pizza, terrific. Robert Hall Merlot by the glass was a nice surprise. Great experience.

My favorite Il Fornaio anywhere, and one of my favorites in Carmel. Never been disappointed, and the one time the prawns were slightly undercooked, they promptly rectified the situation. My biggest problem is saving room for dessert. One day I will!

Food, as always, was good. Must have been new waiter, after serving our order, he forgot about us. Had to waive him down to remind him we were still there. Service could have been better. Poor service not normal for this place.

A little disappointed with our service . Had a reservation for eight people. Waited 15 minutes once we got there to get a table that only had seven chairs and five place settings. So it took another 15 to sort that out and then another 15/20 for a waiter to even come to the table to get our drink orders. Food was good, but also took quite awhile to come out. I’d try them again given the fact it’s Pro Am weekend so it’s busy and want to give them the benefit of the doubt

I like Il Fornio but my husband does not. Unfortunately even though it was a busy night and we were one of the first table seated, it took close to an hour for our food to arrive. My pasta was fine but my husband’s salad was water logged and chicken was overdone. It was disappointing.

We completely enjoyed our experience at Il Fornaio. The food was amazing and the service was great. Our waiter, Salvatore, was the best! We definitely would come back.

We had high expectations but were underwhelmed by our experience. The service was OK but the food was quite ordinary. The pasta served was not the type posted in the menu and the dish was very dry. The fish dish was mediocre and the polenta accompanying it was served as a liquid pool ... almost the consistency of a thin sauce or gravy. The ambience was fine.

The food was okay. I ordered the minestrone and cappellini with chicken- both were pretty forgettable. Ambience wasn't all that great, sitting next to the bar with a constant draft from the door. Service was okay, cordial but not attentive or friendly.

Overall average, a bit disappointing compared to our previous experience with the restaurant (both food and ambience). We were here on December 31 for New Years Eve and the place was devoid of any celebratory feel; service while courteous was a bit dull and lacking enthusiasm. Location is terrific, wine list is good, not a great selection of food for vegetarians, and the pizza was served lukewarm. Will think twice again before choosing this for a special occasion.

Had our New Year's Eve dinner there. They had very nice/fun masks, noisemakers and other party things given to each diner. The food and the staff were all great (as usual for this restaurant) and the evening a lot of fun. Great ambience.
