Overall an OK experience but nothing exceptional. Food was a bit of a let down, but the service was outstanding.
I love this place. We go every year. Food is always good and they are pet friendly on the patio.
Super in every aspect, delicious food, great & friendly service y wonderful atmosphere!
we were a little disappointed to arrive at an almost empty restaurant on a Thursday evening. This place needs a buzz to fully enjoy its potential. The special seafood stew was delicious; the ceasar salad a disappointment and overprized. Main course pasta was ok but nothing culinairy. Staff was kind, bu most of them seemed a bit bored. All together not Il Fornaio at its best. Hopefully a better experience next time.
As always, we had very good service at the bar as well as our table. The chosen wine paring with my special risotto and shrimp was excellent.
The very best... and the mgmt & staff are very responsive, friendly y gracious.
I am a frequent diner!!
The service and food were very good but a bit pricey. There happy hour is highly rated but there was a large group that overflowed the bar area and were noisy and visually impacted regular diners. If you don't want to take advantage of the happy hour, try to avoid the 4-6 window.
Good Italian food, quiet, reasonably priced for the area. Charming spot, pleasant servers, nice ambiance inside. I would return.
I love Il Fornaio - the food is always good and everyone I take there loves it. They have a good menu with a lot of selections. The staff are always friendly and the service is impeccable and to me that is one of the key things I look for when dining out.
The restaurant was overpriced and down at heel. We were placed in the side annex, which was particularly bright, with zero atmosphere.
The food was overpriced and very average; we won’t be going back the next time we are back in Carmel
Everything was delicious meal in cozy beautiful set-up.
Work trip to SF extended for golf, had a reservation for 1 on a Sat night. Seated promptly and meal was paced perfectly. Had the House Salad and Margherita pizza, terrific. Robert Hall Merlot by the glass was a nice surprise. Great experience.
Il Fornaio is always a dependable choice. We needed a place that would accommodate everyones tastes and they fit the bill!
Great food and great ambiance
My favorite Il Fornaio anywhere, and one of my favorites in Carmel. Never been disappointed, and the one time the prawns were slightly undercooked, they promptly rectified the situation. My biggest problem is saving room for dessert. One day I will!
Food, as always, was good. Must have been new waiter, after serving our order, he forgot about us. Had to waive him down to remind him we were still there. Service could have been better. Poor service not normal for this place.
A little disappointed with our service . Had a reservation for eight people. Waited 15 minutes once we got there to get a table that only had seven chairs and five place settings. So it took another 15 to sort that out and then another 15/20 for a waiter to even come to the table to get our drink orders. Food was good, but also took quite awhile to come out. I’d try them again given the fact it’s Pro Am weekend so it’s busy and want to give them the benefit of the doubt
I like Il Fornio but my husband does not. Unfortunately even though it was a busy night and we were one of the first table seated, it took close to an hour for our food to arrive. My pasta was fine but my husband’s salad was water logged and chicken was overdone. It was disappointing.
Excellent food and service.
Great food, ambiance and services! Very friendly hostess & servers.
We completely enjoyed our experience at Il Fornaio. The food was amazing and the service was great. Our waiter, Salvatore, was the best! We definitely would come back.
We were the "honored table" for the night. So we were treated to breads, hors d'ourves, dessert and impeccable service. The foods and wines were awesome. A memorable evening from start to finish
We went for the Sunday brunch - wonderful food and great service. Very reasonable too!
We had high expectations but were underwhelmed by our experience. The service was OK but the food was quite ordinary. The pasta served was not the type posted in the menu and the dish was very dry. The fish dish was mediocre and the polenta accompanying it was served as a liquid pool ... almost the consistency of a thin sauce or gravy. The ambience was fine.
Fantastic food, pasta with vodka sauce dish was excellent. Great wine, friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere. Loved it!
Delicious food, super, friendly and professional staff and wonderful environment!
Love it. we try to go there every week!
I only wish they add Italian music!
The food was okay. I ordered the minestrone and cappellini with chicken- both were pretty forgettable. Ambience wasn't all that great, sitting next to the bar with a constant draft from the door. Service was okay, cordial but not attentive or friendly.
Overall average, a bit disappointing compared to our previous experience with the restaurant (both food and ambience). We were here on December 31 for New Years Eve and the place was devoid of any celebratory feel; service while courteous was a bit dull and lacking enthusiasm. Location is terrific, wine list is good, not a great selection of food for vegetarians, and the pizza was served lukewarm. Will think twice again before choosing this for a special occasion.
Had our New Year's Eve dinner there. They had very nice/fun masks, noisemakers and other party things given to each diner. The food and the staff were all great (as usual for this restaurant) and the evening a lot of fun. Great ambience.
Great food and great service.
Very good food, service and ambiance.
Nice vacation with the family demands a nice meal. They took care of us. Accommodating our early arrival. Food was fantastic. Nice and cozy place. Love it.
We had dinner there on Christmas because it's one of the few restaurants in town that is open on Christmas day. The staff did a good job of handling the over-capacity conditions. Servers were cheerful and attentive. The ambiance is holiday-nice, but the food only mediocre. Certainly not worth the price.
Not the place to go for Christmas dinner. At our 5:30 reservation they had already run out of the salmon entree. If you like your meal in red sauce, you will like this place.
Waiter and service was outstanding. Bread and salad were good.
Service very poor but will excuse because very busy Christmas day
Nice ambiance but the salad portion was tiny unlike the other franchises of the same category.
Service on a busy Christmas Eve dinner time was excellent. Attentive, but not bothersome. The meal was as expected and the portions were ample to share so that we could taste all components of the meal. It was also nice to just walk to dinner while staying at the Pine Inn. I look forward to going back.
Pricey but great food. We had the sausage pizza and it was fantastic!
Food was just ok, nothing was as good as what I remember.
This was such a disappointment. 13 of us went to celebrate my daughter who had just finished her final show of the nutcracker. We waited for OVER and hour and a half for our meal. Server was awfuk. He never even took our menus and when our appetizers were done never cleared the table. We will not return. Our guests were so frustrated. The kids were starving.
Really bad service.
