Just okay Italian. Looks more upscale than some other places in town - but food is mediocre. Bread soggy and in general it all felt tired.

Very nice service. I was pleasantly surprised. Also the food was great: calamari, sea bass, beet salads. Don’t forget about chocolate ice Cream! Will be back for more.

Food was uniformly tasteless, disappointed. Service and presentation were nice, location was scenic. But the food all tasted the same. Even the salad dressing was bland

Worst meals ever - butternut squash pasta - was disgusting- so overbaked - tasteless. Beet salad with chicken was terrible- unbelievable how a salad can be so bad.

The service was good and friendly. The food was mediocre but plentiful. Even though the restaurant was far from full it was quite noisy as there is nothing to absorb the sound. The atmosphere of the restaurant is a bit stark but this is balanced by the hotel lobby which is over the top early french bordello.

Well we just loved our dinner experience!! We took friends there for the first time and it was so delicious! Waiter happily accommodated our request for spaghetti carbonara and it was the best we’ve had ANYWHERE!!!! We’ll go back every time we visit Carmel. BTW, bread was devine!!

Waiter and manager said food looked bad and still served it. After 2-minutes of picking through the inedible pasta, the waiter came to ask how it was. I didn’t lie and said it was horrible. He said that when he picked it up it didn’t look right. Then why serve it? The manager came to the table and apologized, took the item off the bill, and said the soup I ordered as replacement was no-charge, too. The waiter rarely came by, served my husband a drink from his left side reaching across the table forcing him to stop eating his bread. Poor experience, poor service, and inedible food.

Absolutely loved it! We will definitely go back next time we are in Carmel. The layout gives you a feeling of privacy and the flower boxes outside the windows add color. The food was delicious and the service superb!

Food was "meh." Service very good - attentive, helpful. We've been to this location several times and it seems to decline a little bit each time. We made reservations for car weekend Saturday on the early side and were surprised that it was not more crowded when we left. Prices were on the high side for average pasta. Wine was ridiculously pricy.

My wife and I have been going to II Fornaio for the past 6 years for lunch always on Thursday, after viewing the Pebble Beach Tour d'Elegance on Ocean. We have never had a bad meal or service, but this year it was different. Our friends received their order within 15 minutes, however, our pizza order came 20 minutes later after I had to make it a point to the waiter that we have yet to receive our order. Once we did receive our order, the pizza was cold and did not taste that good. This was very embarrassing since, this was the first time our friends have eaten at II Fornaio. After this, I am not sure if I will return next year.

Food was delivered cold together instead of in stages , soup Pasta and steak sent back as it was cold . When it did cm back it was satisfactory temperature but too little too late . Perhaps it was just the onset of a busy week - would not go again .

Mediocre Italian food - pizza should have been better, pasta sauce was kind of watery with the seafood. VERY slow service - took 45 minutes longer than it should have for dinner, and an inexperienced waiter. Lovely garden room did improve the experience.

I was able to get the table here on Saturday for my husband's bd at 6:30pm. Great atmosphere, good food until they made the wrong filet mignon for my husband's plate. We asked the waiter if it was medium for the steak, he answered " yes'' confidently. However, when my husband cut through the steak, it was well-done. We were gonna let it go, but since it was my husband's bd, I told him to ask the waiter to exchange for different steak. They did make it again, the steak came out perfect. We still want to recommend this place!

I wanted a nice steak. I figured for 31 dollars, the BATTUTA seemed like it would fare well. Wrong farewell!

I needed a chainsaw to cut the meat! If that weren’t bad enough, I could not chew the meat. This wasn’t fit for human consumption; In fact, I don’t think a lion would be able eat this Kevlar laced piece of meat.

The server came by and saw an incredible pile of inedible fibrous beef. I told him that this was awful, and pointed to a mound of prechewed meat exhaust. Clearly, he acknowledged that this was not a meal at all, and inappropriate to give to a long time customer.

The server comes over after we finished. I expected him to do the right thing. Amazingly, I was charged for the meal that clearly set a record for one of the worst steaks I’ve ever had served to me.

I ended up driving to McDonald’s and ate a quarter pounder, by far better than the Battuta di Jawbreaker I ordered.

This restaurant missed the boat last night. I don't know what happened to good food and great service but someone forgot to mention this to Il Fornaio. Waiter delivered incorrect plate to my wife and my lamb was RARE instead of medium. Sent back to kitchen but what came back was blackned.

We brought this up to some manager and what we received was a free house beverage or desert card.

Really, thats the best you can do Il Fornaio. We are locals and eat there at least once a month but we will not be back for some time, sorry.

We sat in the room off the bar. It was quiet and easy to talk. The food was good ; however the menu was lacking in terms of fish offerings. My husband loved the lamb chops!

We really enjoyed ourselves. Our waiter was very good. Love the atmosphere. Wished there was little more red sauce on my pasta. My husband loved the lamb lollipops. We will definitely be back when we visit Carmel again>

Had the best service ever! Devin was in training with one of the other gentleman thats was overlooking him and still did an awsome job. Food was amazing very tasty and was worth the drive. Overall everything was just perfect.

I love Il Fornaio in CORONADO, CA.
The Carmel Il Fornaio chef left something to be desired last Thursday. The Calimari was rubbery & inedible. My salmon was good, but not eventful.
We ordered Rombauer Chardonnay, which helped!
So glad that Il Fornaio exists, but maybe they need to help their chefs to be more consistent & creative.

I would not recommend this restaurant. The soup was cold & tasteless & my pasta tasted like asian food.
I don't even think they salted the water when cooking the noodles. Basic cooking 101.

Service was very quick and staff were friendly.

We both had a pasta dish and walked away happy. Would highly recommended the butternut squash pasta and the meatballs!
