    Host was incredibly rude to us and made us want to leave before we sat down. This is not a baby friendly restaurant apparently. Our waiter was fantastic and helped make up for the rude host. Food was just ok, nothing outstanding.

    We took my brother and sister-in-law for dinner...they simply loved the food, ambiance and unbelievably superb service. We have been dining there for over 20 years. . It is still our favorite restaurant on the Peninsula

    Good food and also good service… the menu has some good varieties of entrees and there is also a daily of special entrees that changes everyday.

    I was very disappointed in the quality of the food. My pear salad had only a few pieces of mushy pear. The shrimp were underdone and stringy. The Burlingame restaurant used to be a good one but I won't be back there.

    As always, with Lee, the service is always outstanding. He is a gem. Food was very meh. It used to be fab. What happened? Teensy tiny shrimp and scallops in the grigliata, barely any sauce on the penne all vodka. Vegetables that came with grigliata were quite overdone (carrots and broccolini). Drinks were fab. Overall, with such a bustling food town of Burlingame, Il Fornaio needs to up their game with their regular menu.

    Inanginative cocktails. Great eine selection. I had the pea soup special. Delicious. We all enjoyed our entrees. Perfect pasta. Great service and staff. Attentive. Available. We live diniing here.

    We celebrated our family member's birthday with dinner at Il Fornaio, Burlingame and we are so glad we did. The beautiful flower boxes outside that adorned the exterior really set the mood and the hostess who sat our party of 9 was friendly and welcoming. Our wonderful server, Bella, was attentive, professional and friendly. She, along with other staff members, made sure we had everything we needed, and our glasses were always filled. Water, adult beverages, wine, appetizers, table bread and main courses were all served with precise timing. We ordered multiple dishes so that we can share our meals family style. Our compliments to the Chef as every dish was delicious. Seafood Misto, Pizzas, Pastas, Lasagna, Calamari, Bruschetta, all wonderfully prepared. Bella brought out the cake that we had brought with us along with the candles lit and ready for celebration. Topped off the evening with several coffees, cappuccinos and affogatos. Thank you Bella, and all the staff who worked extremely hard, to make our family celebration special.

    So disappointed. We used to love Il Fornaio. Our waitress, Aurora, was awful. She seemed overwhelmed when serving us. She insisted on taking our order her way. She literally could not take the entire order at once and said she would bring us the drinks first after she was already halfway thru taking the dinner order. She brought the food and made us wait until she brought everyone's food to bring the parmesan cheese or utensils that were missing. Meanwhile the food was getting cold as we waited for the cheese and extra utensils. When Aurora came to pick up our plates at the end, my Dad told her he could not eat the salmon because it was so dry. It really was dry. Instead of her taking it off the receipt, she brought him a "new piece of salmon" even though we had all finished eating, including my Dad. What we we supposed to do with this "new piece of salmon?" Terrible terrible service. My Mom and sister ordered the scallops with risotto. Instead of the traditional creamy risotto, it was like a black rice with no flavor. Needless to say, my Mom and sister were disappointed. Very surprising as we always like this restaurant. Does not seem to be the same as it was before. Also, why no polenta? Why no veal scallopini?
