Il Fornaio - Burlingame Ratings and Reviews
Happy valentines. Wow wow wow. I love this place so much. The decorations were so charming and so nice. It was so welcoming.
Today I had heart shaped ravioli filled with chicken that was to die for. My date had the salmon with black truffle which was outstanding.
The server Gerardo was so awesome. Just no mistakes and so nice.
I’m coming back soon. Thank you Il Fornaio Burlingame.
My mom, who does not know much about online reservations so asked me to get her a table for her and a friend at Il Fornaio in Burlingame since the last time she was there she had a wonderful experience. I was happy to oblige. Again, she shared with me that she thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the service and loves how open and airy the restaurant is. She can't wait to go back!
Well what can I say. Again Il Fornaio Burlingame has done it again. Fantastic fantastic fantastic. The food the service the ambiance wow. I’m speechless. I can’t recommend this place more. This time I got to meet the chef and the manager they are both incredibly awesome. This will be on my list to come to very often. The food is so so good. The consistency the presentation the taste. Yum yum yum. Until next time. Thank you.
We always have good food served to us by friendly waiters.
The only suggestion is that the Regional Tasting menu no longer offers the Prix Fix price for three courses. This was a very compelling treat. I recommend that corporate management of Il Fornaio reinstate this.
I can only say good things about this restaurant. I have gone to many Il fornaios and this one in particular is my favorite. The food the service the quality is amazing.
I ate the special which was so delicious. So perfectly cooked and very well presented. My date had a pasta which was amazing and so tasty.
We will be coming back very often. Thank you to all the staff especially the chef.
My sister and I recently had a fabulous dinner at Il Fornaio in Burlingame. We sat at the counter because we love watching the cooks work their magic and seeing all the wonderful dishes on their way out to the tables. The head chef, Gustavo, was running the show, creating amazing meals. He and his crew were working non-stop.
We started with the Carpaccio, which was very fresh and delicious, and then Gustavo cooked us a beautiful veal special that melted in our mouths. The veal was so tender and it was covered in a lovely sauce made with prosecco and mushrooms. It was very light and went well with the roasted potatoes. It was fantastic!
Our food was served by a very spunky and attentive server, who was assisted by Great support staff， he said has been part of the Il Fornaio Family for twenty years. They are always warm
We had a wonderful evening and appreciate how special the crew there makes us feel. It's great!
I made reservations for my mom and aunt who were in the Bay Area and they absolutely loved it! They called me asking me for recommendations and I immediately thought of “Il Fornaio” in Burlingame. The food is always delicious, the service is on point and I love that after a meal you can take a walk around the neighborhood with plenty of cute shops. Definitely a must try if you’re in Burlingame.
We know you can do better, Il Fornaio! We generally love coming here when we don't feel like cooking as you generally do really well. But Friday night was not showing your best game when it came to the Caesar salad and salmon. For the salad, the lettuce was wilted and overdressed. There was a very generous amount of sliced (not really shaved) cheese on top. It almost went back to the kitchen but we decided not to make a fuss. But that was before the salmon. My husband thought the chef would know how to prepare or the server would have asked, but the fish came out overdone. We understand that not everyone likes their salmon somewhat "rare" but we didn't expect it to be overcooked. On the flip side, I had the Sole which was perfectly prepared and what I would have expected. I think going forward it's good to ask how we foodies like our fish prepared, and we will be back on good terms!
By the way, the spumoni is out of this world, completely delicious!
It’s a lovely restaurant visually. My main course was just okay — it was the seafood grill. Nothing was outstanding and the calamari was super tough. The beet salad was very good. Our server was just okay. She didn’t do anything wrong except for failing to bring our companion’s wine in a timely manner, but she wasn’t really engaged with us or seemed to enjoy her job. I would go back but order something else and hopefully get a more lively server.
I personally love Il Fornaio restaurants, but am particularly fond of this one. It does not close after lunch, so you can eat a late lunch. Sophisticated, and very nice.
I used to fly into San Francisco from the East coast, so was starving! Around 2pm and it was great going there for lunch before going home to Cupertino.
Parking is a challenge in Burlingame, but they have Valet parking at certain times.
Hope you try it.
The food consistency fluctuates. I use to think this was a decent Italian restaurant. I had dessert here back in December and it was a great tiramisu and so I wanted to come back for some real dinner again, but everything was just a little lacking in flavor. The service was pretty good. Our server kept coming back and checking in on us. I ordered risotto and it wasn't so creamy and I think it seemed not as hot as freshly cooked. So I'm guessing it might have waited till my friend's pizza was ready. Which when I tried seemed okay, but to her, it wasn't as crunchy and crispy as it could be, and we did ask for extra crispy. I thought the tiramisu will save it all, but even that was lacking in flavor. I write this review in hoping they will be more mindful of the consistency of their food when it comes out. I just ate in Il Forniao on Battery St, and the tiramisu was as great as I remembered. I was still come back here and give it a try. I do love the ambiance and atmosphere.
