Il Fornaio - Burlingame Ratings and Reviews
Took us 47 minutes from the time we ordered until our food was served! I ordered a chicken dish and got some veal dish that was decent BUT not what I ordered!
Won't be returning there's way too many good restaurants on the peninsula to be disappointed! Thanks anyway!
We've always enjoyed Il Fornaio for consistently good, if not spectacular or authentic, Italian food and it's usually a bustling location whether we're in the city or suburbs. In this visit, however, even with a reservation, we weren't seated for almost 20 minutes, the kitchen was incredibly slow, and the food was less than mediocre. The pasta sauces were watery and flavorless, the pasta was well past al dente, at least one of our dishes wasn't brought out until we were done with our meal. Our server did her best to keep us updated with the delays and tried to make up for the delays so we don't fault her but the food was just not worth the wait. We won't be back.
my husband and I had a great meal, we shared the regional special salad with endive and pear, it was delicious. I had the regional special risotto with shrimp, mushroom and spinach, very, very good and my husband had the fradiavola pizza, our favorite pizza at il fornaio. Our food came out hot, and timely. Our server Heather was wonderful. Heather was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Good food and great service.
Il Fornaio never disappoints; it's not the most exciting restaurant, but the food is always good, the menu changes often enough to stay interesting and service is smooth, friendly and professional. I like the remodel - where the bar has moved to a separate area. It works for a quiet dinner for 2, a large group celebration or family meal. We have been coming here for years and it's still a reliable choice in downtown Burlingame. I noted on my reservation on my latest visit that it was my friends birthday and our dessert came out with Happy Birthday in sauce on the plate and a candle. Really nice, unexpected touch!
Il Foraio never disappoints. We go to the Carmel and the Burlingame restaurant alot. Love it. We travel all over italy and always compare to Il Fornaio as the closets restaurant to being in Italy. Every chance we get we make our reservations to Il Fornaio.
I love the place so much, that my wife had Il fornaio cater my 60 th birthday . All my friends couldn't believe how good the food was.
Mixed service review. Front desk was awful. OpenTable reservation didn't matter and had to wait 20 minutes. Front desk was being run by a bunch of kids. Didn't offer a free drink or dessert which would have gone a long way. Our server was great and food was top notch - once we got a table.
I ordered the raviolis from the special menu and it was delicious, the asparagus pieces balanced the creaminess of the dish. Everyone on our table was happy with their orders. This is really more a shout out to the host that evening, it was busy and crowded and there was waiting which means unhappy customers, but he kept his composure and took care of each party. Probably it helped that we have reservation through Open Table as our wait was minimal.
