What a disappointment. We haven't been in a few years but always experienced a good meal in the past and considered it reliable. Everything has gone downhill. Three of us went and each person had sub par food and drink.
To start the tonic water was flat and my wife's drink had to be sent back. We had beef carapace and a beet salad to start. Both had a ton of shaved cheese on them. Our dinner entrees were all bad. My son had the smallest portion of veal scallopini I have ever seen. It was drowned in sauce and tough I ordered venison which was chewy and flavorless. I did not think it possible to eliminate flavor from venison but they did it. The sauce was cold as if the stew preparation had been microwaved. There was a teaspoon splash of cold berry sauce on the side which was flavorful but not nearly enough to help out the meat. The polenta tasted like water. My wife had pasta which had to be salted and peppered Everything lacked seasoning. We ordered chocolate hazelnut cake to share for dessert. It was so dry we didn't finish it. Coffee was burnt.
The server was nice and the restaurant was full but not busy. It was a Sunday night. Overall we will not go back. Our meal was $200 and it was like cafeteria quality.

The staff here was awesome last week when we came in with my friend to celebrate him having been to 100 countries. Also, we came in with my landlord who brought his lifesize doll, and nobody was rude to us. This was his first time taking her out, and it was great since I'd been worrying all day that there may be hiccups.

The food is excellent as always. They carry my favorite varietal by the glass, so had to have that.

I used to go to Il Fornaio all the time because the quality of the food was great. My chicken was tough, the vegetables must have been cooked in rancid oil because they tasted awful, and the potatoes were so so. I cannot believe the amount of business the restaurant does with the food they serve. Kudos to them for charging a lot of money for terrible food and get away with it.

Have been here many times over the years! It is always consistent.. the ambiance is special. The structure of the actual building is unique and creates a beautiful setting. Have enjoyed it every time I have been here! Service was great tonight and food as usual great. Thanks you for such a great restaurant. It was very busy even on a Wednesday night .. very few tables open. speaks for the popularity! A friend was visiting from out of state and she loved the experience as well.

Bad service and cold mash potatoes. Waiter ignored us and host had to deliver meals. Waiter was an old guy that just couldn't keep up I'm sorry to say...

Didn’t have a great experience with our waiter. If it wasn’t for someone I knew el fornaio would have received 2 Stars.
I probably won’t be coming back anytime soon.

Delicious meal as always along with the usual great service. The char on the Regional Passport menu was wonderful.
