Il Fornaio - Burlingame Ratings and Reviews
The food was tasty but all our entrees were cold. The service was terrible, very unprofessional and very slow. I told the person at the reception desk that it was our friend's birthday. He said he would tell the servers but apparently he never did as I had to tell her again.
Food was average - felt it was overpriced. When clearing the table I asked waiter to box up my leftovers (I only ate half my meal). He wound up throwing away the food. When I asked him about it he apologized but I felt he should have at least offered to comp us a dessert as he threw away at least $10 of food. Such a waste.
Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was absolutely horrible. Our waitress was attentive until just after she took our order. It seemed like such a long wait time until our food arrived. I brought it to our waitress' attention that there was a was a little bug in my pizza which I was able to catch in my napkin. She just laughed and said those things happen and brought me a new napkin.
After we had our entree, we asked to see the dessert menu. Our waitress never came back and I noticed she was taking orders from a huge party. My husband and I waited patiently, but it became ridiculous so I took the menus and brought it to the attention of the manager. I informed him that we were waiting so long that we now just wanted our bill. The manager apologized and brought over our bill.
I observed during that whole time that other patrons with only a party of 2-4 were getting annoyed. Apparently, there were a lot of holiday parties. I do not recommend going there at all during this time.
It was a disappointment because it was a special occasion...our anniversary!
Lunch for four. Very noisy on this particular day, and I could hardly hear my guests in my booth. Service was at first nice and friendly, but as the meal went on this waiter just kept trying to rush us along wanting to take plates away that were not finished. The acoustics here would be difficult for a business meeting. Food is always great.
The place was dead , our waitress had no emotions. Food was bland , we were travelling from out of state and thought it was a fine italian restaurant. People were in gym shorts and hoodies. We made the reservation for out anniversary and i guess it was disregarded, noone wished us anything , was an awful experience actually.
We were there don a major holiday. The food and service was excellent--not something all restaurants can accomplish on a holiday. We really enjoyed it. Although the restaurant was full, the tables are not so close together that you cannot hear. We had a good dinner and pleasant experience.
I have been going to Il Fornaio in Burlingame for many many years and have always been pleased. I am not sure if there has been a recent change of ownership or management but my brunch yesterday was extremely disappointing. To begin with the service was appalling. As the waitress took our orders she upsold on every item, do you want to add fruit? avocado? bacon? If I want extras I will ask for them - it feels cheap and crass to have them pushed on me.
The food took 40 minutes to arrive and when it did one meal was wrong and had to go back and it took another 5 minutes for the correct meal to reappear. Once we got our food it was very average, nothing special or very flavorful. For the prices charged I would expect better quality food and better service. This will be my last trip to Il Fornaio Burlingame
Took us 47 minutes from the time we ordered until our food was served! I ordered a chicken dish and got some veal dish that was decent BUT not what I ordered!
Won't be returning there's way too many good restaurants on the peninsula to be disappointed! Thanks anyway!
We've always enjoyed Il Fornaio for consistently good, if not spectacular or authentic, Italian food and it's usually a bustling location whether we're in the city or suburbs. In this visit, however, even with a reservation, we weren't seated for almost 20 minutes, the kitchen was incredibly slow, and the food was less than mediocre. The pasta sauces were watery and flavorless, the pasta was well past al dente, at least one of our dishes wasn't brought out until we were done with our meal. Our server did her best to keep us updated with the delays and tried to make up for the delays so we don't fault her but the food was just not worth the wait. We won't be back.
