We enjoyed the November Regional Passport menu featuring the dishes of Piemonte region of Italy. The sea bass, chicken piccata, and the ravioli dishes were wonderful. Our server, Heather, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very efficient.
We again had a great dining experience.
Noisy madhouse, but worse of all the cost. Entrees for 35 at a restaurant that has little or no ambiance is unacceptable. It seems that a lot is taken for granted.
Heather was great! Her recommendations , friendliness, and superb service made it a great evening. Thanks!
Great atmosphere. Vibrant and fun. Service was rushed and server seemed rushed herself. Food was good not exceptional. Caesar salad was tasty, braised beef not the best I’ve had but the seafood linguine and seafood stew/soup was very good.
My go to spot on the Peninsula is Il Fornaio. Relaxing and conducive environs for conversations, biz or sharing life events.
The one area I thought was NOT a good value is the starter courses (salads, soups, appetizers). They seem SO overpriced! Entree prices aren't too bad. But the starters are way TOO high for what they are. That said, the food is very good and the ambience at the Burlingame location is quite up-lifting--lots of windows, light, airy and appropriately energetic.
Restaurant is lovely. That said, I had one of the worst meals I have had in a very long tine. Chicken breast was undercooked and tasted like rubber. Inedible. When waiter asked if I wanted to take it home, I told him that no, I didn’t like it. He just continued on his way - couldn’t care less. After we put credit card out to pay the tab, it was a solid 20 minutes before the waiter collected it. Disappointing experience. Will not bring clients there again for lunch.
Went for the Osso Bucco - wasn’t disappointed ! Excellent all around!
GREAT SERVICE, DELICIOUS FOOD AND WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! CANNOT WAIT TO RETURN.
another fabulous evening at Il Fornaio. Our favorite server Heather was there to make recommendations and provide us with her wonderful service and her beautiful smile. Looking forward to our next visit
Everything was great but the service could have been more attentive. There was about a 15 min wait before we got a chance to order. Wine glasses were empty for a while before we were asked if we wanted something else. bartender was sociable for the drinks before dinner and food was terrific.
We were pleasently surprised with the entire experience. Enjoyed the food and ambience. Will go again when in San Francisco.
After years of business lunches, it was nice to have a relaxing dinner. Service was friendly and excellent, and we enjoyed the pasta dishes. The lobster bisque was good, but not exceptional.
This is a good destination for business meetings due to the size of the restaurant, layout, and menu selections. I'd like Il Fornaio to serve more sustainable fish and organic chicken whenever possible.
the food here is solidly good. They won't be competing for any James Beard awards, however, it's well-prepared and the source ingredients are good. The service is another story. I have been here twice in the past 2-3 months. I find the service to be inattentive to the point where you want to get up and go searching for your server. Staff drops plates on the table with a thud. The guy serving the water clearly does it without much care. They could do a lot to tighten up their front of the house game.
We enjoyed another delicious Regional Passport dinner. Food was excellent, and so was our server, Heather.
We enjoyed brunch there. I had the french toast. It was like almost like my mom's 40 years ago -- excellent! My mom's was the best of course. We also enjoyed bacon - it was a little overcooked and crunchy. I will go back!
Server was EXCELLENT. I believe he is new, but level of service is SF-high-end special. An off night in the kitchen, as my tomatoes in caprese salad were overripe and the veal in my scallopini was dry. Overall, we love this restaurant and will give tonight’s off night on food a pass and are excited to come back and be pampered by this server.
Excellent service as always by David. The wild caught grilled salmon with kabocha squash and spinach was delicious as was the mushroom soup. We also had Roederer champagne which complemented our meal perfectly. Thank you! Already looking forward to our next visit
It’s wonderful service, good food, beautiful place for gathering together
Food has NO taste, seafood appetizer was microscopic... stay home
Good food and great service!
We had a great time, noice was a bit high and we weren’t expecting a bar with sports On at an Italian place.
It will be great if there was a separation between the bar and the dining area.
Always a pleasure to visit Il Fornaio Burlingame. My husband and I were entertaining long time friends and wanted it to be special. And, it was. Food was great (as always), wine selection was broad and well priced. And, the waiter was perfect -- charming, efficient, and attentive. Great choice for our luncheon.
We have gone to Il Fornaio - Burlingame many times over the years with a favorite Aunt who lives nearby. We had a lunch there in her honor after her memorial service. The food is always good and there is a favorite for everyone. The quality has been maintained over many years. We always take out of town visitors to an Il Fornaio.
Great food, great birthday for my daughter !
Wonderful food and wonderful service. The flickering light was the only downside.
Calamari appetizer was amazing. Main courses - mix. Roast chicken was very moist and appealed to my picky eater daughter. The pastas my husband and I ordered needed more than the grated cheese for taste - had to add salt and pepper. Been here a couple of times and pastas were better. It might be just my husband or my own palates.
Love the new menu
Always loving dining here. It’s our favorite. Consistently good food and service.
The food and service were excellent. The ravioli with pear & Gorgonzola was delightful and the salmon was delicious as always.
I ordered the salmon salad. Upon arrival, the salmon was over-cooked and in small, broken pieces. When I brought it to the attention of the waiter, he immediately took it back to the kitchen and they cooked a new order for me. I would never order this dish again. Also, the restaurant was quite noisy and it was hard for our party of 6 to communicate. I felt it was a little pricey for lunch.
It was great, its always great. nice healthy lunch in a very comfortable atmosphere with great service and quality food. The awesome wine selection also helps.
Good food bad service. Server never mentioned his name, but he looked like he wanted to die to say the least. I’ve never had a problem with Il Fornaios service until this last time.
The food is very consistent. On our most recent visit, the food was outstanding, as usual. However, the service was really lacking. While the noise doesn't bother me, it is quite loud in there and can be difficult for anyone with hearing problems.
When I travel to San Francisco I often stay by the airport on my first night in and on the night before my trip out. I always go to IlFornaio. It is such an excellent authentic restaurant.
The restaurant is Beautiful, Burlington game is a great town and the entire experience is perfection. The food at IlFornaio is the star of the show, every dish is prepared perfectly with the
Freshest ingredients prepared exceptionally It is also so very authentic. It is my go to
Carla, our waitress was just fantastic!
Amazing ambience. The housemade garlic bread and olive oil served is amazing, the service is a little slow, 45 mins waiting time for you to receive your dish but the dessert menu is vivid and the Dinner plates are really good.
Started with beet salad with goat cheese, great. Followed by festa regionale risotto with shrimp and artichoke hearts, highly recommend it. Husband had lasagna, which was good too. Ended with the festa dessert, chocolate torte with salted caramel gelato and chocolate sauce. So decadent. But, what made our evening perfect was the people at Il Fornaio. Our waitress Heather remembered we just got back from vacation, asked us about it. Made great food recommendations and her service is impeccable. A meal is not just about the food, but, the company and Heather always makes us feel special!
Bad service from the buzzer to the waiter a three hour tour that got worse as the eve went on
