   We’ve been twice now and I cannot recommend the restaurant enough!! Wonderful staff, amazing food and an absolute gem of a restaurant!!!

   My wife and I have enjoyed Italian cuisine in Il Fiore, but when we visited this Sunday lunchtime we decided to try the English Roast Lunch. There was a menu from which you could choose 2 or 3 courses. The main courses were Beef, Turkey, Vegetarian or Pork. My wife and I opted for turkey. Wow, when the meals were served, we saw a really generous portion of thickly cut turkey slices, crispy roast potatoes, huge Yorkshire puddings, broccoli, carrots, beans and a wonderful dish of cauliflower cheese. It was top class and sooooo enjoyable, but it did leave us very happily completely stuffed and unable to sample a tempting dessert. The efficient, cheerful, capable and speedy serving staff offered to box of the desserts as a takeaway! We enjoyed those at home several hours later. One cheesecake and one Grandmother's Cake (Torta Della Nonna) - also really excellent. A real eating delight in this restaurant. A pleasant environment, great staff and marvellous food. What more could you possibly need?

   Arrived well before our booking time (5.45 instead of 6.30) which wasn’t an issue for them as it was very quiet still so was happily accommodated. Promptness of service started fine, but slowly decreased. No real introduction of who our server was or someone assigned a section as we were served by 3 different staff. Getting drinks and order was perfectly fine within a decent time.. but then slowed. We had our starters - our family enjoyed , though I personally noticed the flavour of the fryer oil over the mozzarella and spinach rice balls.. so seemed to taste of nothing. Before our mains arrived a group of 7/8 ppl sat nearby, and noticed how ‘fast’ they were being served. Mains overall were ok, well cooked pasta but cooking calamari is delicate and quick process but unfortunately the chef failed here, although it didn’t spoil the overall dish I just picked out rings of essentially rubber bands.. We had finished our mains and just seemed to take an age to clear the plates, my son was getting restless. I did have to ask for another drink for our elder son , although we had 1 check back per course and no point were we asked for any more drinks. Whilst we had our dessert menu, I had gone outside twice, gone to the toilet, and we still waited and noticed the large group had got to the same point and were presented with their dessert menu.. and we still waited. Eventually server came over again , there was a quick ‘sorry for the wait’ but that point just asked for the bill at same time we ordered dessert. There was no flavour of “limoncello” in the cheesecake I had ordered, although nice it seemed plain and just over powered by their decorative raspberry coulis..quality ice cream for the kids however. The bill came half way through desserts, but to pay more wait. overall the experience & food was fair but just need to organise staff and assign sections they are responsible for as it was a muddle of multiple servers & behind the scenes communication that lacked.

   We had a good meal but unfortunately our order was messed up twice, including bringing us the wrong pizzas. The staff did put things right and we were given our drinks for free to compensate for this. The food was nice but some items on the menu like the salad we had was very expensive for what it was.

   Although there was an error over one of the dishes, this was corrected immediately and without fuss. The Server was helpful and pleasant. The presentation of the food on the plate could have been better, however the food quality was good to very good. Overall we enjoyed the experience. I'm sure we will go again.

   Outstanding food, wine and service. The best Italian restaurant in Chepstow at the moment. Thoroughly recommended.
