Everything was top notch, especially for a Second Avenue restaurant. The service was perfect, even Michelin star restaurants have bus staff trying to remove plates from the table before all guests are finished. Not here. Charming atmosphere, Neo-Camp with class. My dining partner wanted more of everything he ate. My melanzane parmagiana was superb. One reason I couldn’t give 5 stars to the food - the cod I ordered was very fresh but entirely bland. Entirely. So with Madison Avenue prices I expected the cod dish to be delicious. It was full stop boring. But the wait staff and management were so highly professional it was a pleasure anyway. May I repeat, even Michelin star restaurants do not have wait staff as properly trained as Il Divo.

The service was not great. My sister had to pour wine to my mom and i every time we wanted a refill from our bottle. Our server did not check to see if everything was okay. They switched servers in the middle of our meal. And the portions of food was small. Left us hungrier

Truly European experience, lovely furniture, and they use real crystal for cocktails which was very elegant and also appreciated. The pasta was cooked perfect..I mean perfect. The staff was amazing and I think that we had the best mother / daughter lunch I can remember.

We will be back and thank you to the team at Il Divo!

Ambiance is nice. Service was not good.
Our table was for two at 6pm last Friday.
We arrived on time but then felt rushed the entire meal.
We finally had to ask our waiter to please not keep sending people to take our food away when we had obviously not yet finished the course. We wanted to savor our food and and catch up with each other. Otherwise we would have gone to a diner.
Also after I had to waive down staff to mention that I lacked utensils for the pasta course I was served, a staff member put a fork right in my pasta bowl not on the table. I would say that’s is quite crass

Everything wonderful. Chicken was a bit boring but the presentation (and onions) were wonderful.
Eggplant parmigiana was. one of the best ever. Overall - we absolutely our first experience.

The food is good but falls well short of the price tag. The presentation of the food was austere. The risotto osso bucco presentation is visually offensive, but pleasant on the palate.

It is a BEAUTIUFL restaurant - you can have a real conversation - very good food - but expensive. I would definitely go back again because of the ambience and general feeling of the restaurant.

Il Divo is, hands down, the best restaurant in the neighborhood in many years. We have eaten there about 8 times since they opened, mostly dinner but also for lunch, and they knock it out of the park every time. The food is divine! I love their burrata appetizer, fettuccine bolognese, halibut ravioli, scallops, lamb chops, cod fish, and their pizza is also incredible. Great wine selection. Their general manager, Christian, is a consummate professional, and excellent at his job. He makes sure everything flows smooth throughout the restaurant, visits nearly every table to make sure they are happy, and keeps the peace up front when the restaurant is packed and people are waiting for their table. Every time we go to Il Divo, we can’t wait to go back!

I was looking forward to try this new resturant first of all no chairs by the bar to have a cocktail before dine or waiting for the table, second the Opera music was so loud that I couldn’t hear the conversation all the background music was Opera and it was kind of annoying and couldn’t wait to leave the resturant; the waiter was constantly next to us and wanted to take our unfinished food plate and it made us very uncomfortable. The food was good and tasty but I won’t go back there no ambiance at all just some chairs and table and opera music.

We were looking forward to our reservation at IL Divo for a long time, and we were very sorely disappointed.

The food was sloppily prepared and served. While pouring put wine, the server split quite a bit on the table cloth and bread basket. That’s ok, mistakes happen! However, neither the server nor the manager who came to check on us afterward offered to bring us a new bottle or table setting. Shortly thereafter, a different server came to apologize once again because we had given the wrong type of wine glass and transferred the wine from one glass to another. The whole operation was frenetic and haphazard, and we had a bad taste in our mouth before we even tried the food.

When it arrived, the food was consistently mediocre. Everything was good, and nothing was great. The eggplant was oily and was unevenly cooked. The pasta was oily too, though that is far from my biggest complaint with the meal.

At the end of the meal, our server ran our credit card for the wrong check! The check amount was far less than what ours should have been, so for a split second, we were tempted to say nothing and pay the lower amount. Our conscious kicked in though, and we told our server, that once again, he had made a mistake. Begrudgingly, we paid a very high price for a very disappointedly experience.

Needless to say, the wait staff and kitchen have a lot to figure out before they can hold a candle to sister restaurant, Al Valentino, in Milan.

I live in the neighborhood and we celebrated my girlfriends 30th birthday at Il Divo. The restaurant is very attractive with an equally attractive crowd. Service was still slightly awkward and made worse by the maitre d' asking repeatedly if we wanted to sit at the bar instead of our table? I made the reservation a month in advance and said it was for a 30th birthday. Maybe his ascott/ scarf combo was cutting off circulation.

Anyways it is a great restaurant. Even better people watching. We will be back.

Being in the restaurant business { louandco.net }, I am not easily impressed, but I read about Il Divo and it sounded intriguing. In a town where restaurants open and close as fast as Democrats announce a new candidate, I called for a Friday reservation. Booked solid. Called again during the month, same story. What the hell was it about this new place? Finally, I got in. The space is beautiful. No attention to detail was spared. The light, the lighting, the glassware, the music, the menu and the staff are exceptional. Very European. No evidence of a red sauce joint here. My thanks to Christian, the gracious maitre d. This wasn't just another dinner. This was an experience.

Food is fine- like every other upscale Italian place in the city- 30% more expensive than most places— which is fine if you don’t care about money. OK interior. Noisy. For the same price you could go to Sette Mezzo or San Ambroeus which have better fare, or Serafina which is much cheaper, a bit loud, and has food that, like Il Divo, reliably just “fine”.

The place itself was very nice and the staff was great but my ravioli had fish bones in it. They brought me a lobster dish instead which also had shell in it and I just gave up and wanted to leave. They were very apologetic but I still ended up having to pay about $200 for not a very good meal. It was disappointing because I love il Mulino I thought this would be good too.

Went tonight for a birthday dinner, and the staff couldn’t have been better. They greeted us with a “happy birthday “ when we entered and made us feel at home. The food was spectacular. We had the Bolognese and the risotto and both were delicious. Then we had the almond dessert which was addicting to say the least. Christian, the manager checked on us after every course, and really took care of us the entire evening. Everything was as we hoped, delectable, friendly, delicious and just a fun new experience. Definitely get the old fashioned as a drink.
Will definitely come back soon.

Lovely place, upscale. Be prepared to spend money. Portions were a bit small. A glass of wine was a quarter filled up glass. Food was very good....not fantastic. Appetizers way too expensive for this neighborhood. Eggplant parmesan was too oily. At the bottom of dish, instead of red sauce, you saw oil. But basically, food was very good, portions small and a bit to expensive .
