The food was excellent and our server was most helpful. I had a great experience.
We were pleasantly surprised! My 1st time going & enjoyed ourselves! Really cute ambience & the food was DELICIOUS! I'll be going back there.
Great experience! Food was delicious, service was excellent, ambience is really nice, the owner is friendly, walking around and visiting with patrons.
Good food Lovely dinner with friends. Staff was very attentive and meet all our needs
Food was amazing. Very impressed. Will be back to visit...it's in the neighborhood!
Food was delicious, as always, and our server, Mellanie, was knowledgeable, provided wonderful suggestions and was attentive and cordial. Excellent dining experience.
A couple brought in their 2 dogs and were sitting at the bar. I did not find that appealing at all. It didn’t leave a good impression on my family either which is sad. Their other restaurant, Franco’s, is top-notch! Sadly they weren’t open for lunch so we came here. I think the wait staff needs to be trained on how to pour wine. Example, when you pour the first glass, you’re always supposed to let the person who ordered it, usually, a taste of the small sample, to gage whether or not they like it. She did not. She poured the wine in all 3 glasses. Many of the wines we asked about were also unavailable unfortunately so we settled on a lesser expensive bottle. The area, the lack of street parking, and the patrons bringing in their 2 small goods left me with not returning. Franco’s is much better.
Our server was great, the staff was great when finding a table that I liked and the food was great.
Very disappointed with this outing at IL Culaccino. Usually the food is excellent, but tonight's meal was overcooked and dry. I was embarrassed, because I bragged on how great the food was, but my date was very disappointed with her meal.
Celebrated my sons birthday. After dinner they gave us Canoli dip. Nice touch!
Service is usually quite good, but Anelle was the best server we've had. The specials were really good last night
It's always good. The calamari on a bed of lettuce is a 10 as is the eggplant
The food, ambience and service was great. We will definitely return.
The atmosphere was great. Staff very friendly. I ordered the chicken Vesuvio it was dry and cold potatoes cold peas undercooked not enough oil. I think the chicken was prepared days before and barely warm before serving. I didn’t return the meal because all my friends really enjoyed their dishes so I figured I selected the wrong item.
The food and wait staff will keep us coming back. The noise level sometimes made conversation challenging but overall the ambience is good.
We were in town for Family Weekend at our son’s college. We picked the restaurant for its proximity to our hotel (and its very strong reviews). The restaurant and meal exceeded expectations. We would definitely return.
We were seated in the enclosed patio - don’t hesitate; it is enclosed and heated, etc. Our server was tremendous (great pace, attentive, solid recommendations).
My favorite part: the pastas arrived piping hot and perfectly cooked. (Perhaps the hottest-from-the-kitchen pasta I have ever been served — really great; the only way to serve pasta but so few do)
The ambience was fun, family, a bit noisy, casual - all good.
For my birthday I really wanted something special but was kind of disappointed with the meal: ribeye was bit chewy, diced potatoes overdone slightly, spinach mediocre… salvation was linguine in white clam sauce was superb… we understand that it was busy but for the price point?…
Was on business trip and did some investigation prior to trip and this was near our hotel. Facility is very nice and service was great. When looking at the menu was concerned with limitation of choices at first, but they clearly are masters at the selection. I had the veal marsala, which I have had all over the country and this was in my top 3. Also had the bruschetta, which was perfect. Overall great experience and when back in Chicago, I will return.
It was great and food was good!
Great. They were able to accommodate my mistake of reserving the wrong date. Was still able to eat wonderful food and make planned event on time. Thank you.
Time and time again I am impressed with how amazing the food, service and atmosphere. I cannot think of a time where my expectations were exceeded. I raise my expectations for this fabulous restaurant every visit and I’m consistently blown way. The wine selection is amazing and the staff was extremely helpful in helping me pick a bottle. The food (as always) was delicious, but the gnocchi was so good I added a second order just so I could eat it again for dinner the next night. And, to top everything off, the dessert was phenomenal. You can really tell the great care and attention to detail the staff brings to every aspect of the experience. If you’re in Chicago this is a MUST STOP.
Dinner was amazing. We went here the night before the Chicago Marathon. It is very close to the expo. Great food and ambience. Because it was during COVID, we reserved a seat outside and they have a very nice patio area with ample seating. Service was great as well. I would highly recommend.
Incredible ambiance and delicious food. Highly recommended!
We were disappointed in the food. We were really looking forward to the meal. The calamari was tough and rubbery, the pasta sauce wasn’t what I considered good. The carrot cake and tiramisu were the only things that lived up to the expectation.
Perfect place for my boyfriends pre-marathon pasta carb-oload
Delicious food and great outdoor dining
My family and I loved everything about our experience. Our waiter Ben was very attentive. The grilled calamari was really good. The outdoor seating was a little too loud, but it was a really nice area. Would definitely go again.
Marathon! Great experience, food and service !
Nice place for a pre-game meal. Their "outdoor" space is completely closed in, however, when the roof is closed, so it is not a viable outdoor alternative during cooler weather.
Food was extremely mediocre for the price. Asked for sautéed spinach and it came out tasteless and dry. I had a pasta dish and it was OK. My waitress was prompt and pleasant. Service time was a tad slow. Would I recommend this place vs all the other Italian place in Chicago I could have gone. Absolutely not.
Food? As always VERY good.
Ambiance? The noise level on the patio was off the charts; it was so difficult to carry on a conversation with my family - after about 45 minutes, it finally toned down due to the number of people leaving.
Service? The waitress did not ask us if it was a special occasion as it was actually my husband‘s birthday. When my daughter’s soup was delivered, the spoon was submerged in the soup and the soup was all over the rim. At the end of the meal, we were not asked if we would like dessert, nor did our server offer to box up my meal to take home. It was all a bit lack luster this time. We were there last fall and it was absolutely a wonderful experience. I’m not sure what changed since that time.
Seemed like a jumped up chain restaurant. The food was nothing special. The whole restaurant was too loud to have a conversation in.
Made a reservation for patio, only to be told upon arrival that there’s a wait of 30-40 minutes. Kind of defeats the purpose of making a reservation. Service is understandably affected by COVID shortages, but we didn’t get our main course until nearly an hour and 15 mins after being seated. The empty bottle of wine wasn’t cleared from the table. Not to mention we were finished with that long before entrees arrived. Food was adequate but the patio wait despite having a reservation was a dealbreaker. That can’t be blamed on COVID.
Great menu, service!
We had an wonderful evening at Il Culaccino! The food was amazing, the best risotto I've had and the Nonna's meatball salad was delicious. The service, on a very busy Wednesday evening, was perfect, very attentive but allowed us to have conversation time. A really fantastic night! Thank you to the Ruffalo Family!
Excellent service (Nancy was on top of her game).
Great location if you are at McCormick Place.
In a town known for its Italian food this place holds there own with the competition.
Got rained on when the bussers opened the rooftop when I specifically warned them that a storm was in the area. They seemed really eager to open it, so once the storm had passed I informed the server that I’d be ok with them opening it again and he just laughed. We always enjoy this place but we will probably think twice about going next time if there’s rain in the forecast.
My second time visiting. Everything was wonderful. I don't recall our waiters name, but he was fabulous!
We'll be back.
I chose to try Culaccino because the menu looked good there was easy parking. The service was excellent. We let the waiter know that we were in no hurry and wanted to visit and he honored that very well, while being attentive for when we needed him. The food was very good. Yes, we would come back here as well as recommend this place to friends. Very nice!
