The music was a little too loud to have an easy conversation. I asked that the music be turned down a little so that the three of us could hear each other.
Love this restaurant. Great food and service. Can’t get a bad meal!!!!
The restaurant was very clean our server was excellent the food was very very good it was a beautiful night
Great restaurant! Loved the patio seating, service and food. Can’t wait to come back.
As always the experience the staff the food is outstanding. Will always be my go to spot.
Loved the outdoor option, although, i did choose for inside seating for the reservation and ended up sitting directly in the sun the rest of the time, but food was amazing, service was beautiful and loved the water constantly being refilled!
Everything was perfect. I loved it
I will return for other family and business meetings
Great Italian food and wonderful services
This was the first time at Il Culaccino and it was delicious! Our server was incredible! I put a very specific request on the reservation and they accommodated perfectly!
We go here all of the time and usually have a stellar experience, but this last time they had a large engagement party happening at the same time, so the service and food was slow and lacking. The soda tasted like seltzer water, and it took forever to get the correct items and we had to ask numerous times and wait super long to get a high chair. The outside patio is perfect though for summertime Chi.
Time and time again this is the best dinner. Every trip is better than the last. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Great place to walk to from McCormick place for a date or business lunch or dinner or just because 10/10 will be back
Great service and food. I recommend!
Our party of 3 really enjoyed Il Culaccino. Like all restaurants they are short-staffed at the moment, however their experienced servers hustled to deliver good customer service and really made an effort. We really liked the food and they have an excellent wine selection. Only our tiramisu dessert missed the mark- not awful, but just not quite right. It was nice to dine outdoors under the covered patio, it was extremely loud (beyond energetic), sometimes difficult to hear each other. Some sound dampening would probably go a long way, but not a deal-breaker. This is a fun spot and very convenient to McCormick Place and nearby hotels.
Very good food. Server was great but too busy - I think they were short staffed so she tried her best to stay afloat.
We ate on the outside covered patio and although it was nice to be out there, it was very noisy - people talking seemed to be extremely loud/noticeable - perhaps b/c no noise buffering ceiling.
Very nice. Short staffed but staff there good
Had a great time. Ambiance is beautiful. Service was great but a bit slow. We understand you are understaffed so we waited patiently.
The food and service was ok. Nothing special, will not dine there again.
The patio is spacious and well ventilated but provides adequate protection from the elements. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Each dish was delicious. Especially recommended are the veal limon and the salmon.
. Decent experience. Food was prepared well just lacked seasoning for my taste. Very inviting atmosphere with nice vibes on the patio. Service was not the best for our party of 6. Food came out timely but had to track down the waitress every time we wanted something. Didn’t feel like we were important to her at all.
Carissa was great and the food was excellent! I went for the first time 2 weeks ago and was back already. Excited to have a great restaurant when I live nearby.
Food was excellent, ambience is great, staff was courteous, and helpful.
I am a huge fan of local restaurants, and this is the best of the best. Frank and his staff are amazingly welcoming, kind, and thoughtful. The food is absolutely excellent and has something for everyone. I was worried that the pandemic would cause Frank to have to shut the doors but they pivoted from take away only, to outdoor dining, and navigated various capacity limits. Whether for a business dinner or to have a working lunch, everyone can find a place at Il Culaccino’s tables.
Great location. Really good quality food. Surprisingly - no lasagna on the menu, but all of the dishes are large, fresh and savory. You could share, but I would not call this family style dining. The staff is friendly and the wine selection is pretty good too. Two thumbs up.
Best Italian food in Chicago, hands down. My server, Ashley, was an absolute delight. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!
Made reservation for girlfriends birthday and the experience was exactly what I was looking for. Outside of noise from children near by our visit was great.
It won’t be long before word gets out about this place! Can’t complain, great food, great service, TV’s with sports, awesome large patio, trendy indoors for both family & youngsters 😜
We came to culaccinos on a whim. We were happy to learn culacinnos is the newer sister restaurant to Franco's, a local favorite in Bridgeport. We were seated in the greenhouse extension which is all glass with an epoxy floor.
1) nice space but noise is a problem.. THERE IS NO SOUND ABSORPTION AT ALL. We couldn't hear each other. Our server had to shout and couldn't hear us order.
2) Service could have been better. Water glasses were empty even after multiple requests for water.
Overall I'm happy to see the restaurant expansion in this area. I feel that Culaccinos has strong potential to be an anchor restaurant. The dishes were well prepared, quality was good, and food was hot. I feel the restaurant needs to work on the sound and better staff training.
This is by far the best dinner and lunch I’ve had since living in Chicago. The food is spectacular, the service is diligent, the atmosphere is authentic and the overall experience is top class. I’ve never had a bad experience in the dozens of times I’ve visited this great spot. Whenever I have friends or family come into town, I take them here. If I have to suggest a place to bring a client from work, I suggest here. If I ever need a good dinner, I come here. It’s never a bad decision to visit Il Culaccino.
Great Italian food! The outdoor patio is the largest and best around by far. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We had the grilled calamari and stuffed peppers to start which were both gone in seconds everything was great. We will be back soon
Fantastic food, amazing staff, all around an excellent dining experience. Will be recommending too all my friends and family.
Great food and service. Patio is beautiful and retractable roof is great for a rainy day.
I was just here with my wife last week for dinner and it was so good we came back to have lunch on the patio. It has quickly become our favorite place in the neighborhood. The portions are generous so we split the whipped ricotta appetizer, a salad and the spicy penne and everything was delicious!
The food was delicious! I live nearby and heard rave reviews from neighbors, and always saw cars getting takeout in front- and for good reason. The fettuccine is the pasta of my dreams and I can not wait to go back!
Waited half an hour for over cooked, soggy pasta. For an Italian restaurant, I have one single expectation: pasta need to be al dente. Calamari is nice and fresh.
Very loud environment, obviously understaffed. Waitress was too busy to show up most of the time.
Outdoor patio on a summer evening with a gentle breeze. Good food with good friends in a relaxed atmosphere-will go back for sure.
I had an afternoon reservation. When I arrived there were very few patrons in the restaurant, with one waitress. We were seated and brought drinks in about 10 minutes. It was then more than 15-20 minutes before we saw the waitress again. She arrives and appeared agitated that I mentioned the long wait. Our order was taken. I ordered baked clams and the linguini with clam sauce. The baked clams were covered with a bread crumb mixture. The clams were lost in the mixture. The mixture was tasty. Then the linguini arrived with half of the clamshells closed. This is just unacceptable for a restaurant with the ratings you show.
Awesome food and ambiance. Would definitely go back.
The waitress, Jacqueline, was extremely rude. Didn’t check on our table. Not once. Didn’t give us time to properly order before walking away. Stopped my friend as she was going to the restroom (weird). There was a bug in my food and she didn’t acknowledge the mistake; rudely told me she’d “talk to her manager” as if I put the bug there.. then it was taken off of the bill ; when I asked if it could be remade. Drinks were good but I wouldn’t go back bc of the service that was provided . TERRIBLE!!!
