Located in the historic Fulton Market district of Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood, il Carciofo is a Roman Italian restaurant drawing inspiration from the restaurants and markets in one of Chef Joe's favorite cities, Rome. The restaurant offers a seasonal menu of elevated yet familiar Italian fare with traditional antipasti, Roman-style pizzas, hand-rolled pastas produced daily in a dedicated pasta lab and market-driven mains that highlight the season's bounty.

Another excellent experience. We were there two months ago and were pleased to see new entries on the menu. We love to go and try new dishes even as old ones are great. We sat by the chef station and had a lot of good conversations with the folks working the oven. Food and service very good as always !!

il Carciofo goes above and beyond in every way. Food is sensational and the team will guide through the menu if you cannot decide on what to order. Speaking of the team, they’re great! Everyone’s warm, welcoming and always smiling! Can’t help but notice that they’re happy to be there and strive to provide an excellent experience. This is, in my opinion, the best place to eat in Chicago.

Our server Reina was very patient with a group of seven Italian speaking women Oliver recommendations were fabulous especially the Baby gem salad the Gnochetti the caci e peppe and the carbonara it was a wonderful dinner with great friends, and the food was superb. I’ve already recommended the restaurant to three of my friends

The artichoke was the best! Loved everything we had. I do hope they will get Gluten Free pasta at some point so I can try the carbonara and amatriciana. My guests said they were outstanding.

My wife and I tried Rosemary first and loved it and decided for our one year wedding anniversary we’d try il carciofo. It did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the service was spectacular. Out favorite dish (especially my wife’s) was the Ravioli Triangoli. We loved it so much we asked for a second order on top of the rest of our order. 100% will be coming back to this place.

Food was excellent and well prepared. Drinks were good. Service was helpful. Loved the asparagus and caramalized balsamic onion pizza. Steak and veal also good, along with the carbonara and amaraciano. Wonderful to share so many things. But also pasta servings wouldn’t overwhelm if you chose that as a main and enjoyed several apps/pizzas in a small group.

Joe Flamm knocked it out the park with yet another incredible restaurant. This was our first time to il Caciofo. I realized that what I really loved about our experience was the people. From the minute we entered the door the staff made us feel like family. Not the real kind of family but the kind you would choose if you could! Our server was one of the best we've ever had. Hope Lynn made our evening. She got to know us and what we liked before she suggested items. Everything we had was absolutely amazing. She also had that special talent of knowing when to check in and when to allow us some space. We sat at the chefs table and were impressed by how focused each person in the kitchen was. You could see the love and passion that was put into each dish. As you can tell, this had been one of the favorite dining experiences we've had in the last couple of years. I can see why every one raves about Joe's restaurants. He has outstanding dishes and has staffed his restaurants with the very best people.

Sat at the kitchen counter..never seen so much pre-cooking of items..sanitation was not great..everything brushed off cutting boards onto the floor..stainless pizza peels stored in a milk crate on the floor..bread service never offered..cacio Pepe had seized and was just a dried clump of noodles..server asked if we wanted a new one..should have cleared it and automatically cooked a fresh one..asked if we wanted fresh plates and silverware after appetizers..like asking if we wanted more water..was told I could not keep the menu to reference throughout the meal and to order additional cocktails or wine..overheard the expediter/Chef telling a story where he said “I almost sh*t my pants..the pastry cream/custard in the dessert was grainy..Front door employees were excellent both coming and going..Sorry but just had high expectations based on reviews..
